Babylon 5 - An Apology

First season is definitely it's weakest, and can seem a bit of a chore to some to get through, but it's absolutely essential. Nearly every episode pays off in some way later.

Ah good to know. I think I watched the first six or seven episodes and was wondering why the series was so highly recommended. It was just so cheesy and the standalone stories in the beginning weren't at all interesting.

Will give it another try sometime.

The Political Future of Nuclear Fusion

This should be what Obama's Manhattan Project/man on the moon project should be. I think is doable in less than ten years if people wanted to make it happen.

Not going to happen. The US is already involved in the ITER project and the earliest prediction for ITER is a commercial reactor by 2050. And that's IF nothing goes wrong.

Current research is still working towards achieving net gain, which is a far cry from practical fusion power. People have been promising fusion power "soon" since the 70s. The fact is we're not even close to starting research on commercial fusion, and we don't know if a practical fusion plant is even possible.

Our energy needs grows exponentially, and when and IF fusion power becomes available, it will already be too late. We NEED research on renewable fuels and alternative energy such as solar power to bridge that gap, and putting our hopes on a hail mary like fusion is only an invitation to disaster.

Obama overturns ban on abortion funding

good job Obama, let more millions of innocents die, that's the liberal way

Yes, lets do everything we can to protect the sanctity of life of a collection of undifferentiated cells, yet start needless wars which costs the lives of millions of innocents. Because Jesus forgives us when we murder Muslims, but not when it's Christian embryos. That's the conservative way.

Oh I see, the same liberals that oppose killing terrorists overseas heartily approve of paying for irresponsible foreigners' abortions.

Oh I see, Iraqis = terrorists, and family planning and giving out condoms = paying for irresponsible foreigner's abortions.

Zero Punctuation: Farcry 2

if you like like linear, go watch a movie. I have a brain of my own, and like to develop my own story in the world that a game provides me.

It has nothing to do with enjoying linear storytelling. The developers have more control over the pacing in linear games, letting them craft deeper, richer, more immersive and exciting experiences. I would love to play an open ended game with the same quality, but unfortunately, open-ended games spread resources too thin and ends up diluting the whole experience.

Developing your own story in Farcry 2 is all well and good, but it gets boring and repetitive, and ironically, becomes quite mindless.

there surely must have been a moment where they were just floating, about 20 days in. and muttered "well, this sucks."

I'm sure they enjoyed their boat capsizing and floating in an icebox for the first 19 days. It's usually on day 20 that things start getting hairy.

Farcry 2 got boring quick.

I liked Yahtzee's point about open ended games; I've always prefered more linear games with better pacing like Bioshock and COD4.

Also, Farcry 2 is not a Cry project; that would be Crysis.

The Biggest Star Known to Man

I understand the primary point of this video is to play badass industrial techno and show the enormity of space and all but it is scientifically misleading. These stars are point sources of light and can not be photometrically resolved. All those pretty pictures of marbles in this video are images of the sun, our sun, taken in different wavelengths (e.g. uv, x-ray, etc.), and then digitally shaded in visible colors. Upvote for giant stars with crazy names though.

that neubla on Eta Carinae is pretty sweet though.
