Why Home Schooling is corrupting kids

Christian Science books.

"Home-school mom Susan Mule wishes she hadn't taken a friend's advice and tried a textbook from a popular Christian publisher for her 10-year-old's biology lessons.

Mule's precocious daughter Elizabeth excels at science and has been studying tarantulas since she was 5. But she watched Elizabeth's excitement turn to confusion when they reached the evolution section of the book from Apologia Educational Ministries, which disputed Charles Darwin's theory.

"I thought she was going to have a coronary," Mule said of her daughter, who is now 16 and taking college courses in Houston. "She's like, 'This is not true!'""

Religion is subversive, viral and utterly destroyed by knowledge, but if it keeps convincing stupid people to teach their kids stupid things it will keep humanity stupid for a long time.

^ You know, Crake? I used to think the same thing until you said that.

EDIT: I read your posts and I can't figure out where you stand!

Perhaps an Aussie bounder. Not infuriated enough to be a Yank. Still a bit rough to be a European.

But that's just me.

You know what pisses me off about my country, America? Kids being labeled sex offenders for "sexting" each other.

I mean, really, how much harder can we try to fuck up somebody's hormone-enraged life?

Hell no, hard-line creationism all the way.

"I am your father, that means I am the voice of GOD!"

Don't blame homeschooling, blame the parent. If you were homeschooling your child, you'd probably teach them evolution over creationism.

organized religion... is about control. being able to keep the people in line and distracted. an important facet of this control is enforced ignorance. don't get me wrong... everyone is entitled to believe what they will, and I will respect anyone else's beliefs unless they are forced upon me. I believe some crazy sh*t, myself. but... from what I've seen... it's a system that is very old and is still at work, long after it was meant to be.

gwiz665...The title of your rant, leading-Like most disinformation, your journalistic approach is subjective, slanted-Not unlike most atheists, true to form, a 'baby out with bathwater' approach-

There are many folks in the U.S.who home school who have no religion but that of wanting to give their children what the public schools have systematically and successfully undermined for decades: Teaching the skills needed to gather information and think critically-

Schools in the states are not cranking out morons because of their curriculum, they are doing it by teaching them not to think or to glean information from the written word, scientific method, etc.-Remember the messages one was only able to see with special glasses in the film, "They Live?" "Obey, Consume, Reproduce, Buy More Useless Bullshit"....this is what is being done to nation(s) of children here/everywhere-

You ever meet a child home-schooled there whizzy?? I fucking can't stand most atheists as much as I fucking can't stand most Cristains.....They can't seem to keep their religions in their fucking pants.

Well of course it's slanted.. I'm not objective on this subject at all, nor do I claim to be.

I'm sure there are some parents that are good teachers, but teaching, like other professions, is not something you can just do, you have to know how. The sad level of education in the states notwithstanding, I have serious doubt that parents are always the best teachers.

If kids are taught to think for themselves, then the rest is just gravy. Parents teach what they believe, not necessarily what's right.

Atheism is not a religion, no matter how much some people want it to be. And the reason it's being used so much is because IT'S FUCKING IMPORTANT. It's about the fundamental stance on how to perceive the universe and the world around us. Religion is a mental plague and the people saying "it's not so bad" are as much causing it as the fundamentalists.

There is no baby in this particularly murky bathwater.
