Sifting the Sifted

Will VideoSift's content reach a certain point to where we'll be re-sifting it? Maybe just to purify it down to the best of the best or sift again just to catagorize everything?

Do the sifts keep growing indefinitely?

Just a thought

That was what we were tying to go for with the classic page. We aren't convinced it was the best way to handle it, but it seemed like it added a way to "sift the sift." If anyone else has any other ideas about how to handle it we would love to hear them.

Perhaps the “classic” videos should be “Goldie Favorites” or just “Faves.” I’m thinking of Blockbuster and Barnes and Noble sometimes have picks by their staffs. That was the original idea – to highlight older videos and maybe give them a chance to be seen by more folks.

On GVOD, Michael Martine had “Hall of Fame” and “Most Popular”. Both lists were based on videos that received a lot of comments. His “Hall of Fame” included the more controversial videos. All of them are now lumped together under “Hall of Fame.”

Maybe for “Hall of Fame”, a video would have to continue to draw interest and/or generate comments.

My two cents . . .

Getting back to swampgirl’s original thought . . . . It occurred to me that we vote on the videos one at a time. Maybe we need to have voting to choose between some nominated videos for higher recognition. The videos would have to meet certain criteria to be considered. Then the group would vote on the best of the best. And this could be a periodic thing – quarterly, semi-annually, annually, whateva.

Two more cents . . . *reaching for my Tylenol PM*
