Republican YouTube Debate

Of the 4-5 Republican debates I have seen this year this one was the worst. The whole "YouTube" gimmick is just that...a gimmick. CNN wants to represent it as these are the "questions" the people want you to answer. But if CNN gets to pick and choose which questions are asked how is that any different then CNN just asking the question themselves?

Also there was some douche bag in the back of the auditorium that kept booing loudly when certain candidates were talking. Why he was allowed to stay the whole time makes no sense to me...it sounded like I was watching the Jerry Springer Show.

As usual certain candidates got more airtime then others. Here is the breakdown...see if you can guess who CNN favors most.

Final speaking times

Giuliani -- 16:38, during 20 times
Romney -- 13:18, during 19 times
Thompson -- 12:16, during 12 times
McCain -- 11:00, during 12 times
Huckabee -- 10:00, during 11 times
Paul -- 7:43, during 9 times
Hunter -- 5:06, during 7 times
Tancredo -- 3:49, during 7 times

I was not a fan of this debate either. I don't like the whole, "smartass in front of a webcam" thing. But what was up with Giuliani? The man was like a rabid wolverine in a pit full of guinea pigs. I think Romney did a nice job and I garnered a bit more respect for Thompson. McCain is a nice guy, but I don't think he would make a good president. I'm between Romney, Thompson, and Paul right now.

I'm not a big fan of Thompson to start with so my opinion could be biased. But to me he really blew it with his own video that they showed. Instead of using the 30 seconds to tell us what he will do for this country he went for the "attack ad" approach and told us why we shouldn't vote for Romney and Huckabee.

Also another thing I noticed about what made this debate suck was that at least in the Dems YouTube debate that had many of the people who's videos were used in the audience and allowed them to follow up or at least say if they think their question was answered or not. I believe they only did that once in the Rep debate.

And what is with the stupid "I am not smarter then a 5th grader" questions they keep using to end these debates? The last one for the last dems debate was for Hillary "Do you prefer pearls or diamonds?" and the last for the Rep debate was for Giuliani about "Yankees vs. Red Sox". WTF? I mean literally WTF?! This is supposed to be a big joke to us?

I think Thompson is a terrible orator and when it comes to the politics game, I think he failed that course. But he sticks to his guns and knows when to compromise. But I admit he's not my first choice, or my second.

I was doing some research on Huckabee earlier today and I actually think he's a decent guy for the job.

But yeah I don't get the elementary questions either. It's like they have to insult their intelligence at the end of the debate. I'm still waiting for Romney to make the Kennedy speech.
