Delete or Edit Our Own Comments

Why does this option not exist? I don't know about anyone else, but I've been known to drink and surftheweb on occasion. I don't believe this has yet been made illegal although it probably should be at times. However, drinking or not, we all say some dumb stuff online at times that we wish we could either delete or rephrase. Also, misspellings and typos come to mind as well.

Why is there no option to delete or edit our own comments anymore? I know their used to be. I comment and contribute to the site much less than I used to since this option was taken away. Please bring it back. Follow Reddit's example.

Is anyone in agreement with me? Are there any good reasons to not allow people to edit or delete their own comments?

Speaking of comments, why does our comment history not go back as far as it used to either?

The sift is starting to remind me of my place of employment; slowing taking away all the perks we once had.

Don't sift drunk, or face your drunken consequences.

We have sacrificed our ability to edit our comments after 24 hours, because some people have abused the system, thus necessitating said sacrifice. It may suck, but there it is.

how exactly is it "abuse" to alter or take away my OWN comments? I didn't even have to make them in the first place if i didn't want to. they're my thoughts, they belong to me. so the sift is implying that everything I say is OWNED by them the minute i hit submit? ok then, i guess that's my cue to find a new site to join.

WE are the reason this site is successful. each and every one of us. we are making them plenty of money in ad revenue. i guess i was wrong to assume the sift wouldn't turn into digg and think they can do whatever they want now that they're popular enough.

Comment hidden because you are ignoring dag. (show it anyway)

Necro comment spamming allows someone to leave an innocuous comment and then come back a week later and change it to a link to filthyfatties.com. It's happened more than we would like.

You are absolutely right though - Sifters are the reason why we are as successful as we are - though you sound quite sure that we are making "plenty of money" my bank account disagrees.

Actually, you sound quite sure of your opinions all-around. As much as you malign Digg, I can't help but feel you would be more comfortable there.
