Avoiding Duplicate Posts
Lately I've been seeing a lot of reposts of older videos that aren't caught and end up being published to the front page. This isn't really anyone's fault, as duplicates aren't always caught during the "duplicate links" part of the video submission process. However, in order to avoid filling VS up with dupe posts, I recommend that before posting a VS member would do a couple of quick searches to see if their video is already on VS. For example, if you have a video of a classic Donald Duck cartoon where he's out hunting bears, a quick search of "donald duck" and "bears" will likely catch the dupe before it's posted.
On a related note, I think a feature that we might want to look into for a future iteration of VS is to have a section of the submission page that would list off dead or discarded videos that might match the submission as well. This would allow the poster to save or undead a video instead of reposting it, thus keeping VS clean of more dupes.
I don't know all the planned features for VS 3, so perhaps this issue has been addressed already . . .
