For a long time we have awarded sift talk posts a "published video count of 1." The reasoning being that a sift talk post is a contribution to the community, however in recent months it has become clear that not all sift talk posts are fantastic. We have debated about how to reward those that are excellent, and discourage those that aren't and have come up with a new invocation for gold star members.

With this new power you can reward those who have put together truly excellent sift talk posts by awarding them one published post, what might these look like? A link to a news article about video on the interwebs with interesting rhetorical devices, a thorough debunking of a persistent sift violator, or maybe just a sift meet up round up.


So what happens if your post is not quality? Well nothing, you won't be awarded a published post, but nothing bad either. The hope is that this new system will discourage people who are merely flooding sift talk to reach that next promotion.


One more house keeping note, would gold star members please try to be more vigilant about unchanneling videos that are placed into lots of channels without much reason. The new channels will quickly become useless if they are flooded with content from people just seeking a couple more votes.
