RedundantAgain says...

Hey chicchorea,

You're a high-quality Sifter and you do a lot for the community, so if you think I'm harming VideoSift, you don't have to try to ban me, I'll go away willingly. If you don't mind, please tell me how I can delete my account and I'll do so ASAP.

As for having the same username as the guy in the videos on the Angry Birds boards, I tend to get obsessive over things and I have a lot of social anxiety, so I frequently will use the usernames of people I like on other sites (I don't know why, but it makes me feel less anxious about posting). When I started getting into his videos, I probably saw a post of his somewhere else and took his name. I don't know for sure, it's hard to remember three years ago, but posting his videos has been an obsessive tendency of mine for a while now, so it's likely.

I'm not telling you this as an excuse. I'm not trying to get out of anything and I definitely won't be posting on VideoSift anymore, but I just want you to know where I'm coming from since you're a good Sifter.

So, yeah, please tell me how to delete my account (or feel free to pursue banning me with the mods if you prefer - I won't fight it) and I'll take care of that today.

Thanks for all of your contributions to VideoSift and I'm sorry that I've upset you.

viewed, can't vote, YT desc isn't very descriptive. YT username doesn't sound trustworthy either.

Do we have anyone who truly knows their stuff to chime in on this?

The bobcat didn't know I was there... For almost a minute.

oritteropo says...

Oops! My mistake... I did mean to come back and fix those up, but forgot. I was trying to find out more info, like where it was, but didn't find anything specific. The yt username in the tags was just a placeholder to get the vid to post (at least one tag is required).

Fixed now.

Tags: AirportKate44? Not bobcat, or nature, or stillness, or anything actually relevant. There's not even an airport in the video(!). Sifters are getting lazy, and it detracts from the website imo.

Darth Lily meets L3-G0 (r2d2 in lego)

ChaosEngine says...

Just for the record, the reason you couldn't post the URL is because you have only just joined videosift. It's an anti-spam measure.

Now, I'm guessing this is actually your blog, and possibly video too, since you just joined and you're using the same avatar and username as the blog writer. That's cool, I really like what you've done, and if you'd just asked me to link to your blog, I would have. There's no conspiracy here to stop you getting credit for your work, in fact, I posted it on here so that you would get more exposure.

Maybe in future don't get so defensive...

kresty said:

Ah, videosift seems to like to copy content and not let the owners get credit for it. That's kinda lame, and violates YouTubes terms of service. Search for working Lego R2D2 to find his blog and stuff.

Makes sense. I kinda figured that right after I commented. Can one also do an @username thing?

FYI- if you are responding to a particular comment in the thread of a video and you want the person you're responding to to know that you have posted a response you need to hit the " which is in the top right corner of the comment you want to respond to. It will quote the comment and respondent will receive a notice you have responded. Hope that makes sense.

i just happened to see your response to my question as i scan all comments in recent comments constantly.

Also can't wait to see your film

Hello Dag, I'm not sure how to privately message you from mobile so ill just leave this here. Apparently my home IP was just blacklisted from Videosift. Any time I visit I just get the Classic Rick Roll. This is what I get for trying to join the community I guess. I've been a lurker to this site for, eh, I'd say about 6 years when it was first shown to me. Always like to read the comments and the top 10 list. Anyway, I figured if make an account to post, Vygorous is the username. I just viewed that pixel stick video and wanted to know how much some shitty LED stick would set us back so I looked it up, saw that is was $350.00 and posted it as a comment with the specs they provided on their site, hit submit and bam, Instantly blacklisted. Any logic or reason to this? Sucks leaving this site behind but non sense like this would keep anyone away.
See you around.

Attacking my username??? Really???

chingalera said:

I disagree. His manner seems as foreign to myself as perhaps assisting a single EMT with a sucking-chest wound would seem, if you sir were asked to.....'flowers-in-his-hair'??? Really??? Sounds like your power-animal might be a cute little penguin or fluffy bunny, kinna like the guy behind the wheel of this 'film it for court purposes' offering and oh, upload it to the internet to show how calm, cool, and superior I am to this mentally divergent enlisted type (who is CLEARLY insane) by become a living statue of "DUH."
Loook how we handled ourselves, while being completely oblivious to our lack of driving skills and how they affect people who pay attention to the road when they share it with everyone.

Believe me sir, I KNOW this type all too well, and I'm not even a mental health professional....

Xbox One Trolling

Orz says...

Actually what I mean is, they made a console that responds to voice commands but didn't think that there should be words or names to be blacklisted. I realize that the voice command capabilities have to do with Kinect, but considering nearly every vocal command starts with "Xbox", any usernames starting with the same word or letters (it is voice recognition software after all) should have been unable to be registered as a valid profile name. It is a major over site by either the programmers of the software or by the people who tested the product to 'work the bugs out'.

Thanks for the link, but it has no bearing on the video because the car wasn't attempting to pass.

Maintaining your position while travelling in the right lane cannot be deemed a passing maneuver by sole virtue of the fact that the vehicle is in the right lane.

I'm at a loss as to why passing is even part of any discussion on that video because there is no passing happening whatsoever.

(P.S. I like your username, DrThunderbutt. )

Slam Poetry - 'Friend Zone' - Loser To Hero in 3 Minutes

Procrastinatron says...

@alien_concept

Thanks! I was struggling to come up with a username, and then I just decided to accept my true nature.

And this is a timeless issue that I think we've all run into at times. A woman comes to a man to talk about her emotions. The man sees that she has a problem, and tries to help her solve it. This frustrates the woman - she only wanted to share her troubles with him, and she feels insulted that he would assume she is incapable of solving her own problems. This, in turn, frustrates the man; after all, why would she come to him if she won't accept his help? He's sincerely doing his best, and he feels that she is being unfair and overly emotional.

A fight ensues, and neither party understands how it even happened, or how to find a way out of it.

And as I have a VERY emotional mother and VERY rational father, I've been on both sides, as well as in the middle, of this conflict many times.

As for Assange, he once said that Sweden is the "Saudi Arabia of feminism," and having grown up here, I can vouch for the veracity of that statement.

It has gotten to the point here that most guys are just too afraid to stand up to even the most obvious acts of bigotry because the one-way sexism has become so widely accepted. We're only left with three choices; we either accept the abuse and join in it ourselves, or we simply give up and take it with a sort of hopeless resignation.

Since I can't stand to be victimized, I favour the third option; pointing out the bullshit and then riposting with facts, logic and righteous anger.

But I've had some utterly INSANE examples of sexism happen in the classroom, including a teacher derailing a lecture right at the beginning of it and instead spending her entire hour to essentially claim that all men are either rapists or potential rapists, and as a guy, it's just difficult to know what to do in that situation.

It's also very hurtful, as I find rape to be one of the most despicable acts imaginable.

And... that's why my reaction to this guy's poem was so strong. It's like he's been abused for so long that he's begun to think that it's actually true.

You gave your son a very good answer! Men and women are different from one another (though this isn't entirely set in stone), and I think that anybody who claims otherwise simply prefers ideology or fantasy (same thing, really) over reality.

And for what it's worth, I think those differences are pretty freaking valuable. I love women, and part of the reason for that is the fact that they aren't men.

Hence, your username. I was going to ask how you came up with it - it's a good one! Mine was named after my cats. I had a youtube channel for them and signed up here at that time which is why I went with that one...but if I could go back, I would definitely have gone with something MUCH cooler.

Procrastinatron said:

Haha, possibly, but I don't think so! Honestly, I'm just currently using VS to furiously procrastinate. Also, it's a lot more fun than I ever expected it to be, and that is pretty motivating.
