It's obvious even thought the comments have been redacted they are affecting the sift. Any page with the 'redacted' comments are loading slow if at all. We got seriously sabotaged.

Forgive me if i happen to be repeating myself. I get easily excited.

I can confirm I can't get to that Roger Waters comments, nor on https://videosift.com/video/Purple-Mattress-Sues-Over-These-4-Safety-Questions where I wanted to edit and fix/clarify my one comment as I made it while late to work and just fubared the last paragraph all together.

I love the far side and I just came across this old thread but My take on this cartoon is it is a serial killer like "Silence of the lambs " he has human arms in the bowl and his lamp shades look like skin shades, and furniture hand made. Normal day for a psychopath. That's my take, I'm usually not such s ghoul

"The other day I saw a film called The Edge, which I regarded as the best thing to come out of Hollywood since The Silence of the Lambs. Perhaps not coincidentally, this flick also starred Anthony Hopkins. In one scene, Hopkins and his co-star, Alec Baldwin, seem in an absolutely hopeless situation, lost in the Arctic, stalked by a hungry bear, without weapons, seemingly doomed. Baldwin collapses, and Hopkins has a magnificent monologue, talking Baldwin out of his despair. The speech runs, roughly, like this: "Did you know you can make fire out of ice? You can, you know. Fire out of ice. Think about it. Fire out of ice. Think. Think."

This riddle has both a pragmatic and symbolic (alchemical) answer. The pragmatic answer you can find in the film, explicitly; and it might prove useful if you ever get lost in the north woods; and the alchemical, or Zen Buddhist, answer is also in the film, implicitly, and only perceptible to those who understand the dense character Hopkins plays in the story. It might prove useful whenever despair seems to overwhelm you. So, to those who at the end of this book still can't understand or sympathize with my Nietzschean yea-saying, I quote again: "Fire out of ice. Think. Think."

Wow, if he stayed in character all the time, I bet he'd be chewing on Jodie Foster's ribs before the end of the movie. That's how amazing this actor is.


Yeah, fair enough but I still prefer Brian Cox's take on "Hannibal Lecktor" in Manhunter. Hopkins likens his performance to a children's monster tale and he's right- his lecter has the characteristics of a classic movie monster. Cox on the other hand was chillingly real.

I've always wondered why Brian Cox didn's reprise the role in Silence of the Lambs, he refuses to comment on it.
