Five Biggest LIES About Christianity

10317 says...

i was totally suckered in until the "santa clause for adults",
and hollywood bob is correct.i live in the bible belt and what you see in this video in not as uncommon as you may think.
right now i am awaiting my court date due to a summons i received recently from a small town north of orlando called sanford.every other sunday i would do a lecture on early creationist myths.nothing big,maybe 20-30 people would attend,very informal at a small unitarian church.seems "focus on the family" thinks there is only ONE creation myth *cough* i mean historically accurate description of creation.(there are over 7000 for those of you interested)
now,to be frank,i have encountered fundamentalist christians all over the southeast,where i live,and i dont even attempt to engage them in a discussion of any type.not because i hate them,nor even because i disagree,but rather due to their incredible self-righteousness.the bible is the written word of god to them,i teach comparative religions and cultural religious history,so my
profession is in direct conflict with their entire belief system.
basically they view me as an enemy of god.
which is ironic to me considering i am an ordained minister.
think i would get in trouble if i sent this video to their website?

Ha, nice analogy.

mormonism = ripple

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ripple_(wine)

AN old tv sitcom here in the states was Sanford and Son. Fred Sanford's favorite drink was Ripple. Fred would often combine Ripple with other drinks, for example, Beaujolais Ripple = "Beaujolipple" or Cream soda Ripple = "Cripple" or Champagne Ripple = "Champipple."

scientology = night train = yuck !

I agree with the point that the only thing that separates a cult from an established religion is time. It's like a wine that matures- it tastes harsh when it's young but gets more palatable with time.

Mormonism is like the $10 bottle that you wouldn't be embarrassed to bring to a dinner- but it might have screw-on top.

Scientology is a $2 bottle of Night Train.

Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra: Some Velvet Morning

maudlin says...

From Wikipedia:

Barton Lee Hazlewood (born July 9, 1929 in Mannford, Oklahoma) is an American country singer, songwriter, and record producer....

Following discharge from the military, Hazlewood worked as a disc jockey whilst honing his songwriting skills. Among his early hits was The Fool recorded by rockabilly artist Sanford Clark. Hazlewood also worked with pioneering rock guitarist Duane Eddy.

Hazlewood is perhaps most famous for writing the Nancy Sinatra hit, "These Boots Are Made for Walkin'". However, his own output has also achieved a cult status in the underground rock scene, with songs covered by artists such as Lydia Lunch, Primal Scream, Einstürzende Neubauten, Nick Cave and Boyd Rice.

Hazlewood has a distinctive baritone voice that adds an ominous resonance to his music. Hazlewood's collaborations with Nancy Sinatra as well as his solo output in the late 1960s and early 1970s have been praised as an essential contribution to a sound often described as 'Cowboy Psychedelia' or 'Saccharine Underground'. In 2006 Lee sung for Bela B's first solo album "Bingo" the song "Lee Hazlewood und das erste Lied des Tages" ("Lee Hazlewood and the first song of the day").

In 2006 he was diagnosed with terminal renal cancer with a life expectancy of less than one year.
