I can't upvote this purely because of how lowest common denominator the discourse was.

It's time for some adult conversations here and while I may agree with Piers, he did NOT contribute to the discourse in this instance.

I think Piers can be sometimes arrogant, but this guy (Prat) doesn't seem to have an argument to stand on.
These gun supporters won't be happy until every person in America needs to carry a gun at all times. This is a philosophy toted and supported by gun manufacturers and retailers at each level, as well people with low intelligence that don't like to be told what to do because they still believe that might makes right.

There is a direct link between people who have low intelligence who choose violence solutions. Those that could not posibly win an argument, who would just as soon pull out thier gun (or large club) and shoot you - there argument solved.

And I believe that's what the gun industry feeds on.

You seem passionately opposed to most Americans owning guns more so than simply harboring a beef with firearms in general-It seems from these determined comments on the subject running from a crack in the spillway that guns are just bad (m'kay), that you are opposed to peeps having guns please let us in on the cogent distillation of your consternation because I am clueless as to how someone can hope to brave a hike through the tundra without proper gear, and you seem like an educated and thoughtful fellow!

I created an account years ago when I was curious about the buzz and experienced an odd glitch. The first thing I did was walk off a pier and the I was standing underwater with no way to get back to the surface that I could find. My character was fine, and I got bored quick and logged off......Logged on about 2 years later out of curiosity again, and my character was still underwater standing beside that same pier!!

Oh and look man, don't feel offed because no one on the site will seem to respond to your character: Online paranoia, cliquish rules, etc. make any chat scenario unlike one in the world of flesh and blood...Call it human-interface nature or cyber-rules, I tend to label it developmental disability anymore
and trudge along my merry way. If people can't feel comfortable striking up a conversation with a stranger online from the comfort of their computer, well, they are probably equally as bad at it in the world of matter-manifest flesh.

The word does not mean stupid - it means "To move slowly" and may be used in reference to someone who responds slowly. A very intelligent person can retard the process to get a clear perspective on the situation or to stonewall.
I use retardant in my paint so it drys slower.
Even used as a derogatory term, the word at best, means one is slow. I don't agree with her using the term in the way she did and she was clearly lashing out like a child having a temper tantrum but to the meaning of the word itself, I see so issues here.
Piers needs to let this one go and move on.
