Cybertruck Bullet Test

newtboy says...

Funny, this only reminds me of the exact same claims about the windows including staged demonstrations like this, but when demonstrated in front of an audience they instead shattered when Musk hit them lightly. Don’t be surprised if a real world test shows this claim is just as dishonest.

Even if it’s not, what they don’t mention is how impossible it is to fix a dent. Get a dent, get a scratch, send it to Tesla to replace the panel, body shops won’t touch them.

If his claims are true, expect cybertruck to become the most carjacked/stolen vehicle and the stolen vehicle used most often to commit violent crimes.

Looked like a failed ambush carjacking.
Driving away fast without stopping until he was well clear of the incident seems like a very smart thing for him to have done.

Bill Maher: New Rule – Capitalism Eats Everything

I thought he missed the point that it's in the best interests of those at the top for the bottom to be higher. They don't want to be carjacked, robbed, kidnapped, etc by people who have no other option to survive, so it behooves them to pay workers enough that that is not the foreseeable outcome.

Also, he forgot to mention the late 1700's uprising/revolution in France where the working class DID rise up and attack the upper class violently, killing many. THAT is some history that needs to be mentioned time and time again, both as a warning if "fairness" isn't returned to the system at least enough to allow full time workers to survive without resorting to crime or working tirelessly over 100 hours per week, and as a reminder of what has worked to solve that inequality problem in the past.
It wouldn't take too many 1%ers being murdered in front of their families and force fed to them before things changed....hopefully for the better, but certainly change of some kind would happen. I hope it doesn't come to that....unless there's no other option, then a few 1%ers murdered is much better than thousands of poor starving or otherwise being indigent to death.

Protecting and serving by automobile

Ahh, I see, the police CLAIMED he pointed it at them during the moment the camera wasn't pointed at him, eh? I'm not sure I can take the word of an officer as fact these days....sadly.
You call it robbery, he was only charged with theft. He had a metal object in his hand, but didn't try to use it on anyone. You call it breaking and entering, but there's no indication the home was closed or that he broke anything, he did enter (trespassing), and did steal a car (not carjacked, so still GTA?), and later a gun (again, only petty theft). My point was it was not reported he threatened or injured anyone (beyond himself) during any of these crimes, so they may not have been violent at all. He was certainly having mental issues. You seem to be saying ANY crime is violent, which you're free to believe, but I'm free to disagree.
No one was seen in danger at the time they ran him over, certainly not in the camera range. In America we aren't supposed to try to kill people for what they MIGHT do sometime in the future, right?
True, they could have handled it worse in many ways, that doesn't mean I can't still see, and exclaim, that they handled it terribly.

I think you said it all in your last paragraph. Deadly force was authorized IF NEEDED, the officer saw an OPPORTUNITY (not a necessity) and took it.

If he truly pointed the gun at someone, it changes my opinion, but unfortunately I can't take a cop's word on that...."he grabbed my taser" (and the hundreds of other lies caught on camera) blows it for every claim they make. Now, if it's not on camera, it didn't happen. Their word is worth less than nothing at this point. They better buy those body cameras quick, because I don't think I'm alone thinking that way.

Someone stole naked pictures of me. This is what I did about

Mordhaus says...

I think what he meant is that by driving a cool expensive car the guy was asking for it, it being carjacked. I am not sure why he felt the need to elaborate on the race of the man driving, but I 'assume' that he said it because white people apparently never jack cars.

Although he could have been saying that non-white people can't afford corvettes, but that would be racist.

I already did read through your straw man arguments and classic feminist dogma, but I must admit that one bit caught me up. I get the feeling, from your posts in this thread, that you don't even know what you meant by that either. So keep deflecting...

You should learn a little respect... Officer says

newtboy says...

Well, I appreciate the thought, even if you didn't follow through.

No, perhaps there's the misunderstanding. He did not FLEE as I see it. The officer pulled up behind him, he pulled away. He was not being stopped, no flashing lights on, no loudspeaker telling him to pull over or stay there, only a spot light. That is not an indicator that you must stop, or even an indicator that it's a cop, so there was nothing to flee from. In fact, as I see it, it's the prudent, intelligent thing to do if you are on the side of the road, alone, in the dark and a strange car pulls up behind you and shines a light at you. Drive away, don't wait to be carjacked. When the flashing lights came on, he pulled over right away, did not flee.

No this is not abuse or misconduct. It is a cop being rude because a citizen asserted his rights, calmly and respectfully in my eyes. It also seems to be a cop being angry someone didn't 'respect his authoritah' by waiting to see what he might want, but he could have been far worse about it.
Not all cop videos must be either of abusive misconduct or PR videos of them being nice.

When I'm stopped, I do the same thing, refuse to answer questions, but I realize the cops are humans and I calmly and clearly explain that I can't answer their questions without a lawyer present, nor will I without blanket immunity in writing from the DA. Then I produce ID (if asked) and sit quietly with my hands in view. I've never had a problem, when it's explained the cops always understand (even if they don't like it).

EDIT: I hope you will go back and re-read my first reply to your comment. It was not condescending in the least, IMO. I don't know at all what you mean. Sincerely.

I originally came back to this thread to apologize to you for being so harsh last night, but reading your response I just have to say...

The fucking guy FLED after the cop pulled up to help. What part of that do you not understand? YOU are the one having a problem with logic and reason and maybe just a basic understanding of reality.

There is no shortage of actual police abuse/misconduct videos out there! This is not one of them!

On a side note, you might think of yourself as being polite and reasonable but you have been condescending from the get go. And that's fucking funny to me. Good luck fighting with cops on the side of the road.

Insurance scam doesn't go as planned

Lawdeedaw says...

I bicycle around, and the one thing I note about it is that I put myself in a situation to get run over every day. See, I live in Florida, so that goes without saying. Here, people don't give the right away to shit. Red light on turn, when I have the crosswalk sigh? Well fuck me.

I find this whole thing funny because I pay attention to people walking so freaking close to my car. I mean the guy could have carjacked her because of this inattention. The guy was pretty brass about it since he made sure to flag someone before falling. Lastly, if you're the van, you don't poke your fucking van out in the middle of the street without a view of both ways. It DOES NOT MATTER if traffic is stopped one way, you don't do it. By her constant need to turn this way and that, she could not obviously, or safely, see both ways.

Ironically I thought he fell in front of the Van, but then noticed he fell to the side of it. Bad day that it turned I myself would have noticed the turn signal... But as I said, I would have also noticed someone blatantly waving and approaching my vehicle...

Another point; some would say that identity theft is the fault of most victims. You leave something if your trash with information, don't regularly clear out your mailbox, pay with a debit card, etc...not sure if you have ever done those things but if you have you definitely opened yourself up for the fraud.

As Clint Eastwood said as William Munny:

Deserve's got nothing to do with it.

I feel like I've tried to make this rather fine point a lot over the years on the Sift: I'm not saying he *should* or *deserves to* be run over by a car for trying to pull a con.

What I'm saying is he put himself into a situation where he could get run over by a car and did so of his own volition with blatant malicious intent. The fact that his pretending to get run over by a car actually resulted in him getting run over by a car yields zero sympathy with me.

Plus, I'm not sure what country you're in or if you're automotively insured, but if you are at fault of hitting someone with your car, you'll be screwed with insurance and paying a significantly higher rater for several years to come. It's not like a bank where your money is insured by the federal government and a robbery of the vault wouldn't affect you; the victim of an insurance scam is directly, immediately, and significantly fucked.

(Someone used my name when they were apparently at fault in an accident before I'd ever gotten my first insurance policy, and when I did first try to get insured, my premium was something like triple what it would've cost me otherwise.)

Again, not saying that ^that means he deserves to be crushed by a car, but he did it to himself. (Likewise, if he was playing Russian roulette and shot himself in the head, I wouldn't feel bad for him.)

You reap what you sow.

Mother keeps her cool in the middle of a Detroit car-jacking

BicycleRepairMan says...

Ok, on second viewing , you might be referring to the way she sort of grabbed him and shoved him into the car before the carjacking, but then again, she might have sensed that something was up and wanting to get out of there asap, also she has balloons, it is likely they were at some fun-for kids event and he wasnt to eager to leave. Parenting can be hard, and perhaps this was after a long persuation thing to get him to the car.. Anyway, sorry about the quick downvote, but I just think criticizing her parenting here was REALLY off the mark.
