Wait…you know I don’t follow the trials?
You know this because I send you a half dozen Trump courtroom failures a day that you pretended you didn’t read (despite referencing) because the facts presented contradict your ridiculous narrative? Silly boy. Because you can’t comprehend what’s happening doesn’t mean others aren’t following along. 😂 I can only explain it to you, I can’t understand it for you.

Trump insiders are beginning to publicly wonder what they’ll do when Trump isn’t their candidate, admitting that his mental state is not at all well and deteriorating rapidly under the pressure of trial(s), his court cases are hurting badly (despite claims they would help) and he’s refusing to campaign even in his 3 free days a week out of court (he needs that money, can’t waste it on rallies).

Meanwhile Biden speaks off the cuff at events like the correspondent dinner (that Trump avoided like a coward knowing he couldn’t tell jokes or be funny even with the teleprompter) where he once again killed it on stage, being sharp, witty, and with great timing. Sleepy Joe sure is bright eyed and bushy tailed, rational and intelligent, vibrant and focused whenever you see him unedited, must be adrenochrome, right?

The RNC has a maximum of 6 months to dump Trump, but he knew that was coming and nepatized the RNC 100% so now it’s nothing but a cash cow for his personal legal bills and won’t drop him if he’s in prison. He decimated the entire party. So much for “I won’t take a dime, I’m going to self fund my campaign”, right? Now he takes every dime and doesn’t spend any of his money at all, he even pays himself to stay at his own properties. 😂 Just another blatant lie you ignore in a never ending string of lies.

When do you think the DNC will SWAP him and the useless VP? The DNC got 4 months to dump sleepy Joe.

I know that’s his excuse for such horrific performance, but it’s more nonsense. He won’t get an appeal, there’s no misconduct, the judge is more than fair, the jury remains to be seen but if there’s a single maggot empaneled who would have lied to be on it it’s absolutely not, so far the judge has been giving defendant Trump far more leeway and second and third chances without repercussions than any other defendant has ever enjoyed. 😂
The only actual biased judge handling his cases (besides the Supreme Court) is Cannon who is clearly and undeniably bending and breaking the law in Trump’s favor, and using her court calendar to shield him from any other prosecutions before the election, and trying multiple methods to throw the case that have been reversed. The other judges YOU say are biased have not been reversed because they aren’t biased, in fact they were investigated based on Trump’s suggestion they are biased and found to be impartial and fair by a panel of judges including Trump appointees.

Buddy, my IQ is double yours. You can’t read or write at a third grade level, I read and wrote at college level in 6th grade, took AP chemistry in 7th, and AP B-C Calculus in high school. You struggled through trade school, I went to college for 10 years for fun. Don’t ever compare your complete lack of intellect with my intelligence and intellectual curiosity.

Joe only looks impaired when edited to look that way, every time you have actually watched him speak you admitted he spoke surprisingly well and logically, so you stopped watching him and now just repeat what liars say he said, because you are an idiotic tool afraid of reality. If you apply the same measure of cognitive ability to Trump, Trump is exponentially worse at every turn every time, any clip for clip. Trump can’t complete sentences, or even words often, and is in fact incapable of staying awake for an even just few hours a day during a trial he absolutely should be deeply involved in defending. Biden misspeaks every now and then. Trump is always incomprehensible. Biden embellishes, Trump is deathly allergic to the truth.

Joe is wiping the floor with disgraced Donald again, who can’t stay awake in his own trial. Unlike Joe, his designation of “sleepy” has been proven daily and is visibly getting worse daily, Joe is out there walking Pickett lines, giving hours long speeches in the pouring rain, and running the country all bright eyed and bushy tailed while decrepit Don cries at home and cancels rallies because of minor rain (the same rain Biden held his rally in) and after weeks of begging supporters to show up for him there are still none, and not even his family shows up for him.

Sucker. You fell in love with a self absorbed asshole who hates you, and only wants you for your money and vote, then you should die. Yes, he has said exactly that…” Even if you vote and then pass away, it's worth it”.

But your rectal shield protects your tiny little brain from these realities.

Joe beat Trump, and he will again. Perhaps you haven’t noticed the polls since trial started and testimony published and since people finally recognized the economy is (and has been) doing great. Not to mention the biggest vote driver in our lifetime, women’s health care rights (women’s rights in general if you listen to the honest righties that admit they plan to remove the vote from women shortly). It’s swinging the wrong way for you, hard. The RNC has 4 months to find a candidate that won’t be in prison and isn’t universally reviled, but the cult refuses to consider it.

STILL WAITING BABY BOY. I’m capable of answering all your idiotic loaded questions with verifiable facts, you absolutely refuse to answer a single question because you are not capable of rational thought and have no answers.

Star Trek: Discovery - First Look Trailer

MilkmanDan says...

Hmm. I don't like the temporal setting, pre-TOS. As forward-thinking as TOS was for the 60s, bridge officers and brass clearly tended to be male. Now, pre-TOS, we've got a female Captain and 1st Officer on the same ship. Plus, Enterprise already tried the whole prequel thing and was generally not as warmly received as the other series.

Don't like the look of the Klingons. The whole Levodian flu thing was clearly a retcon to distinguish them from humans beyond bushy eyebrows and bronze makeup, but it was a definite improvement and set the standard going forward. Why mess with that?

The bit about "never being able to learn Vulcan" (language) made me jump to the conclusion that Sonequa Martin-Green's character was going to be a young Uhura. Guess that is wrong. She's looking foxy as hell though -- probably the best thing about the trailer in my opinion!

I guess I agree with a lot here that seem to have some doubts about this. Willing and hopeful to be proven wrong though!

Tame squirrel, man's best friend.

RFlagg says...

@lantern53, basically what @enoch said.

EDIT: Warning.... very long post ahead... I'm sure there will be many TLDRs.

Let me be clear. I have no objection to businesses making a profit, or the people who run and operate those businesses to make more income than their workers... where I have a problem is when a bushiness fires 350 people, then tells the rest of the employees the company can't afford to give them raises then the owner goes out and buys a jet on the companies dime, the next year he fired 250+ people, and last year 450+ people, and no raises to anyone but the executives all those years, because the company couldn't afford it. How many jobs did that jet cost? Apparently 1,000 jobs so far, and many more who've made minimum wage for 4 years now so that one man can have a jet? Unrepentant greed is my issue. Where I have a problem is where the 6 Walmart heirs have a net worth over the bottom 30 some percent of the American population, meanwhile they pay their workers minimum wage and give few benefits... All of that would be somewhat acceptable, but for the fact that those on the right get mad at those 1,000 people that guy fired to have his jet for having lost their jobs, they are mad at the employees still there and working jobs like Walmart, Target, McDonalds and the like for not being paid a living wage. People on the right are mad at the people stuck at the bottom rather than saying those at the top should be held mildly accountable. It's like that cartoon where a rich guy, a middle class guy and a low wage worker are all at a table with 100 cookies, the rich guy takes 99 of them, the middle class guy gets 1, and the rich guy points to the poor guy with crumbs and warns the middle class guy that the poor guy wants his cookie... and rather than be mad at the rich guy for taking everything from everyone, the middle class guy (read those on the right, or at least those who vote that way, as those in control know what's going on) gets upset at the poor guy who was left with crumbs. The right are angry at the victim rather than the person doing the crime.

And like Enoch pointed out, it isn't Democrat vs Republican. They are very much the same, especially nowadays. The ideological differences are greatly exaggerated by the media... [And no, there isn't a "liberal media", at least not mainstream. Over 90% of the news is controlled by like 6 companies, none of whom have an interest in making American's aware of just how big the wealth distribution divide is, how fast it's growing, how the income gap is growing at an alarming rate... The fact that if minimum wage kept up with inflation since 1968, it would be over $10.50 by now, and if it kept pace with worker productivity it would be over $21.72 and a bit higher (I can't find the exact figure at the moment, but it was around $24) if it kept pace with executive/CEO pay... but I'm getting way off topic.] The truth is, they are far more alike then the media makes it out to be, especially right wing media. The reason it seems so vast is because that drives ratings, making people angry and distracted. Making mountains out of molehills, keeping people up with the Kardashians, Honey Boo Boo, Miley Cyrus, and other people that don't matter rather than focusing on the stuff that matters... rather than just report the news, they now feed you how to think about it (especially used by those on the right when they go "if you really think about it" then make some logical leap that isn't there, but makes their listeners/viewers think they are being smarter than they are... mainstream media does the same though, so...)

I am ultimately an anarchist. I'd love to see an end to government, but until such point that humanity can grow up, get past the evils of greed, lack of education, lack of empathy, and superstitions, then government is a necessary force to maintain those with greedy motives that want to take advantage of those lacking education, who are superstitious. We need a government of people of empathy who can understand those people, and help those people free themselves of the greedy elite are are pulling way too many strings... sadly they are using government to do so, but that is the thing about democracy, representative or not, we can change the outcome, we can make things better for all, not just a select few.

I get it. I used to be a hardcore Republican. I used to hate the poor, and thought that "teach a man to fish" type stuff, and thought the best way to help them was to kick them in the water and let them sink or swim essentially, some may drown, but many would swim and rise above it all. Then I started to have issues with how the Republican party wanted to control what people did on their own, that wasn't hurting anyone else, and I became a hardcore Libertarian, still belittling the poor (funny as I was poor myself). I stopped watching and defending Fox and Rush and the like, but I held to the Libertarian ideals of free markets being the best solution. Then as I studied God's Word, I started having issues with how the Republican right and Libertarians were sort of contrary to His teachings that I already commented on in my earlier post. At the same time I was learning critical thinking to analyze not just what was said, but who's saying it, and vetting their sources, and I started to see that not only did it conflict with my faith, it conflicted with logic, at least with how man is now... that critical thinking would soon be applied to faith as well, already shaken by the fact that so many people were clearly voting for a party that proclaimed Christianity but was so vastly opposed to the teaching of Christ I had to ask why wasn't God screaming at His people that they were wrong (some liberal Christians would agree that perhaps God was saying something, but making sure the right lost the Presidency, as God is in control, and appoints all leaders, but I was too far off faith by that point). I came to question other aspects of faith, and eventually lost it fully. [I think the Christian Right has been taken over by Christian Reconstructionist who don't admit they are Reconstructionist or even Calvinist, but they clearly are. They try to slightly distance themselves from Rousas John Rushdoony and his ilk, but they are all the same, and they will turn more and more people off Christianity than anything else in this world... save perhaps education and learning to think critically... and ultimately is the true power behind the Tea Party movement... Reconstructionist mixed with a healthy dose of Millennialism...] Anyhow, again getting way off topic, I get it, I was there once myself. I have an old account here on the Sift (I could never resurrect as Hotmail kept losing the password reset requests) where I defended Fox News, where I said something stupid and ignorant about evolution... heck, one look at the old political or religious posts on my blog (personal blog, not a videosift blog) and one would see how far to the right I used to be. I learned though that everyone is closer to one another than the media and politicians and the elite that are pulling the strings would have you believe.

RFlagg says...

Hey Republicans. Don't forget, you invented the individual mandate. You tried to pass it into Federal law many times yourself. Don't be all ticked off just because some black guy finally did what you couldn't. Typical move the goal post behavior. What's changed since the Republican version that was endorsed by the insurance industry? Let's see... they now need to cover pre-existing conditions, yeah, that's horrible, making insurance companies cover sick people and not charge them more, how horrible... and they changed it from catastrophic coverage to comprehensive coverage, so now the insurance companies have to pay for far more services... hmm... I wonder why Republicans suddenly oppose their own idea? Perhaps because suddenly there is less profit in the suffering of millions of people? That is all that matters to Republicans, profit over people. To undue the damage caused by unions in giving people 40 hour work weeks and make people work 80+ hours a week again so that the fat rich cats can keep more and more of the limited resource called money... so that nice little income gap can continue to grow. Hey, perhaps someday soon the US will be like the old Soviet Union with long bread lines, the Republicans clearly want to see that. After all hundreds of them chanted "Let them die!" at the Republican debate... that was the moment that I decided even if I got my faith in god back, I'd rather be in hell then in heaven with people like that, apparently they forgot all the teachings of Jesus about how the rich can't get into heaven, how to help the needy and the poor, how to be lovers of peace and not war, how love was the greatest commandment, and everything else that the Republican party is opposed to.

I don't get why people get upset at the keep the insurance plan. It isn't the government shutting it down, it is greedy insurance companies shutting it down. It's like jobs going to China, people get mad at the government rather than the rich ass hole who sent the jobs oversees so his own personal profits could be higher. I seem to recall the people who are complaining, defended oil company profits by pointing out that per dollar earned/gross profit margin oil was down at 17 or so, while banks were number one followed by a small gap, pharmaceuticals were number two and insurance number three with a nice gap to number 4 and on to the rest of the list. So yeah, if changes in how they have to cover people means they might fall off that list of top 3 most profitable bushiness, then I would expect them to drop the less profitable plans to maintain their multi-billion dollar profit off the suffering of others so a few rich people can have a nice cozy life while millions suffer for their greedy gains.

Health insurance shouldn't be about huge profits. It should be about getting people the health coverage they need... of course I could also argue that the health care industry as a whole shouldn't be so profit driven... nor should the education required to train our healthcare workforce (nor education at all really)... We should have gotten what Obama promised in the first place, a single payer system, or at the very least a Government Option, rather than caving into the Republican Right and turning the money over to a multi-billion dollar industry... and now look, they still oppose it even though it was their idea... If they were going to oppose it no matter what, he should have made it worth everyone's while and given actual reform.

And hey, if you oppose it, come up with something better. Something that will help the millions of people working at places like retail and fast food that can't get employer sponsored coverage. Make sure every American is covered and can afford health care, not emergency treatment, but going to see a doctor for preventative care and affording any medication that the doctor may prescribe.

How Germans Say "Squirrel."

coffeejerk says...

According to http://www.princeton.edu/~achaney/tmve/wiki100k/docs/Squirrel.html The word squirrel, first attested in 1327, comes via Anglo-Norman esquirel from the Old French escurel, the reflex of a Latin word sciurus. This Latin word was itself borrowed from Ancient Greek word σκίουρος, skiouros, which means shadow-tailed, referring to the bushy appendage possessed by many of its members.

Seems fine if correct.

I fully defend the i in i-um in aluminium though. You wouldn't call helium helum or uranium uranum.

I'm guessing it only got bent into 'aluminum' because it became a popular and cheap element to manufacture with, so it entered the pop lexicon of America and got softened up.

"Stuff Twirling in my head"-5 min of Herman Cain on Libya

bareboards2 says...

You're right. That would have been a great response. But he didn't do that, did he? He did exactly what Henning said he did -- knee jerk rejection of anything Obama does or did, without using critical thinking or judgment.

And Cain didn't answer the reporter's follow up question -- there wasn't anybody in charge of the opposition. That is known. So what would you have done then, different than Obama?

As someone who has hung around business people some, I hear "business speak" -- what do managers do in business? They gather information and make decisions. Good managers gather good information. Herman Cain was talking boiler plate biz talk, with attempts at sounding In Charge and Manly. POTUS is not a fricking fracking business manager. He/she has a much bigger job than that.

Cain hasn't a clue. And he doesn't even know he doesn't have a clue.

>> ^My_design:

I don't see it that way at all. He is merely stating that he doesn't feel Obama spent enough time assessing Qaddafi's opposition. However he also states that he is not privy to what assessment Obama may have done, if any. Especially since Obama is getting the praise for it all when it was supposed to be a United Nations operation. But that is a whole different thread...
I think it's a pretty fair answer in all. You ask a question about how someone may do something differently, knowing full well there is no way they could have all the information about it. He's not in the government...yet.
The response I would have liked to have seen would have been:
"How the hell can I question what the President did or didn't do? I don't have top secret clearance yet. But I would have hoped that he spent plenty of time researching and understanding Qaddafi's opposition so we don't wind up with some puppet government like all the other failed puppet governments we've put in place before. Only time will tell if the United Nations and Obama screwed the pooch on this or not."

At least he knew where Libya is and who was in charge. Better than some of the politicians we've had in the past. Looking your way there Bushy boy...
>> ^HenningKO:
"Even tho I know nothing of the situation now or how it was assessed by Obama at the time and I approve of the results, I would have done a better job."
Pure obstructionist stream of consciousness.
