Girl tries to convert audience during graduation speech

Awesomo says...

I lived in Texas my whole life. While I always wanted to tell people like this to go fuck themselves, I could not. You see, good Christians get mighty upset when you do blasphemous things and you're likely to have an entire stadium of pissed off people that want to "fight" (beat the shit out of) you. That's why I left.

Hot Romanian Girl goes second round with Islam

enoch says...

so you guys are saying that people with religious beliefs may take scripture and conflate it to mean whatever they wish it to mean to rationalize their behavior?
and that they may attempt to conscript others to believe as they do?
using the very same scripture?
possibly taking scripture out of context to fascillitate their own agenda?
BLASPHEMERS!
i now go to beg forgiveness from my lord and savior gilgamesh and may he have mercy on your souls.

Sinead O'Connor shuts-up a crowd booing her anti-popeness

silvercord says...

Her most powerful quote in the article:

. . . many of us in Ireland recognized the idea that we needed the church to get closer to Jesus as blasphemy.

To Irish Catholics, Benedict's implication -- Irish sexual abuse is an Irish problem -- is both arrogant and blasphemous. The Vatican is acting as though it doesn't believe in a God who watches. The very people who say they are the keepers of the Holy Spirit are stamping all over everything the Holy Spirit truly is. Benedict criminally misrepresents the God we adore. We all know in our bones that the Holy Spirit is truth. That's how we can tell that Christ is not with these people who so frequently invoke Him.

INCREDIBLE video of space shuttle ascent

Disclaimer: I recognize that I know jack-shit about space technology, and that I don't understand how exactly we get information direct from from outerspace installations and etc... but seriously, come on. 30 years and no improvement?

30 years? How about 3000 years of God slacking off. (Forgive me, Lord.) He incites chaos at the Tower of Babel, yet NASA continues to send these blasphemous vehicles into space. This is like a million times closer to Heaven than the tower those heathens built.

But at least It Was Written. If it wasn't written and the authors weren't authenticated within a 0 percent fail rate (because it's 100% Truth, as proven by its existence), our modern minds might not believe a story about a tower made out of pre-industrial material reaching God's palace in the sky. Aha! But our Lord God is much more wise and clever than we puny mortals: He moved Heaven.

So that's like 2 things to be thankful for, in spite of this monstrous affront to our Creator.

Japanese Hentai video game "Real Kanojo" benchmark and demo

GeeSussFreeK says...

If this is objectification, then I don't even what to know what other games like GTA4 are in your mind. It isn't real, they are pixels. There are no real people like this simulated thing, just as Vice city isn't a real place and you didn't really kill those school children. Game over man, game over.

Simulations can not, by their very nature, be objectified because they are themselves actual objects, not complex figures of which we are denying their autonomy (because they don't have any!), or denying their subjectivity (as they don't have a subjective mind!). While we may comment on the type of person that plays this game, the game itself is not objectification, there are simply no real figures to objectify.

In short Fantasizing != Objectifying. If so, then people who play GTA4 are fucking murdering lunatics and people who play Black and White are blasphemous. You tread a slippy slope because you find the content objectionable to your tastes, but your inability to separate out fantastic from reality smacks of Jack Thompson.

Kirk Cameron is on a Crusade to Debunk Evolution

rosekat says...

I went to Kansas State. One day, there were people around the campus handing out pocket-sized versions of either the old or new testament, I can't remember which. I couldn't see what exactly the books were, but being a college student on a budget I assumed: woohoo, coupon book!
I rather eagerly accepted the book from one of them, said thank you, and started walking away. After a few yards of walking, I noticed that instead of a practical coupon book, I had been given a half-bible small enough to make the claim that the least damaging feature of it was eyestrain-inducing print size.
I loudly said "Dammit, this isn't a coupon book!" and chucked it over my shoulder. Out of the other students around me, about half gave me icy how-dare-you-blaspheme stares, and the other half chuckled and grinned. So it goes.

Maybe the 'how-dare-you' stares were because you were LITTERING (and on your own Campus no less!)

OH I would of loved to be one of the recipients of that "gift". I am strong like sea otter and would of immediately known what was going on and went to page 50 and Yanked it out. Politely saying thank you for the book.

How To Be A Real Man

bcglorf says...

I'm a christian. This video does not represent my faith. If it's a parody by some group I'm really not offended by this. If it's not though, I am horrifically offended and would like to speak with the nuts in charge.

From the overall style though I'd say it's gotta be a parody, mostly because even amongst the most extreme fundamentalists punching out your friends to 'let your light shine' borders on blasphemous. But then there are those Westboro Baptists out there so nothing's impossible.

There need to be a lot more Christians openly standing up and openly condemning groups like them. The fact that protests over abortion and gay marriage out rank the protests against false fronts like Westboro is a sad commentary on self-identified 'Christians'. From were I sit it seems that Christ like people wanting to follow christ are the minority in the 'christian' community.

sadness.

bibles instead of bullets...nice ring.but it is false.
this is what i referred to as the deplorable tactic of twisting scripture to justify horror.on one hand it eases the conscience of a religious soldier, and on the other has the facade of preaching the gospel.
ill call it what it is...bullshit.
what if,lets say hypothetically, your town of devout christians was invaded by muslims.and those muslims sought to save your soul by preaching the one true god..allah..and gave everybody in town english versions of the qu'ran.would you embrace this action?deem it true and holy?
or would you view it as blasphemous and maybe even heretical?
how would you view these things as you watched your neighbors die and their houses burned?
how would you feel about these muslims then?
how would you feel if these muslim soldiers called themselves warriors of allah?
and how would that be different if they called themselves warriors in christ?

truth is a relative perception, and when christians start to call themselves warriors in christ, and that this is a "crusade" against the muslim heathens and that fact alone justifies whole-sale slaughter.when young men are convinced that they are killing in the name of GOD.
well.....we should all stand up and take notice.
because religious rhetoric is just that..rhetoric.
be it muslim or christian.
and i defy anyone to find me a passage where jesus spoke of whole-sale slaughter as being righteous or divinely inspired by god.
those young men are being deceived by those who would exploit their faith to enact atrocities by twisting scripture.be they muslim, christian or jew.
they are false.

for most of human history wars were fought using religion, but it was always the same goal.dominance of resources to perpetuate the powerful,by using the poor,ill-educated and "disposable".religion is a powerful tool to ignite the masses into a war spirit.
in the past 100 years that has shifted to nationalism, but still the same goals, using the same people.and always with the same results...death.
not for those who engineered these wars,be they the papacy, the crown or germany,US..oh heavens no.
it is the highest form of blaspheme..to murder in the name of god.

you seem a decent sort JF,dont fall into the trap those who speak falsely would lay for you.
there is never a holy reason to kill, maim, murder or go to war...never.
there is only greed.

I'd just like to say i installed this just now and searched for "pink floyd - comfortably numb" and various alternatives.
This program failed the litmus test. That's a pretty staple song really, by a huge band. It only had covers and versions done by individual members of the band and no original full-band version.
That's a pet peeve for me - any search return that doesn't have the original right at the top is an absolute shambles and an insult, if you ask me. Scissor sister's terrible cover version smiling at me from the top and no original.
So i did another search for "pink floyd" and got absolutely nothing. No music by pink floyd. Lots of covers though!!!!!!!!
Uninstalled

Blame Pink Floyd's record company, not the program itself.

*edit* added the mac link for you mac users (god have mercy on your souls you blasphemers)

The Epitome of Censorship (Blog Entry by rottenseed)

spoco2 says...

This is NOT in any way the 'epitome of censorship'... it's not EVEN censorship for crying out loud.

It's people who spend WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY too long watching a movie and noting down EVERY DAMN thing that happens that may in anyone's book be slightly construed as rude or blasphemous.

But they're not censoring anything, in no way is anyone being stopped watching the movie by this (other than parents stopping their kids watching it).

The mindset of someone who would spend this long doing this to the degree they have is scary, but a couple of paragraph version of this... something a bit over and above the 'mild language and nudity' is a good thing to have for the sake of knowing if it's ok for your kids without having to see it first yourself.

Although I think you could glean from the trailer what sort of movie this would be.

Pat Condell: Apologists for Evil

enoch says...

im glad pat condell put this rant out there.he clarifies many points i took issue with in his last, namely islam.also someone i respect on the sift who happens to hail from britain helped give me a deeper contextual understanding of what is going on in that region and how it is affecting the citizens.

since i live in the deep south and therefore am surrounded by a majority of christian fundamentalists, using that scale of parameters i guess i can relate to mr condell.there is no anxiety of where i live ever becoming "invaded" by muslim fundamentalists.they would just end up "disappearing".

i totally agree with him in the context of religiousity becoming so prevalent as to stifle actual personal freedom.fundamentalism has actually become MORE stringent and more concentrated, when logic should dictate that it would lessen.religious fundamentalism is the stagnation of not only mind but imagination and leaves no room for error.strict adherence to biblical scripture is followed, any deviation is considered blasphemous and an affront to god.talk about a recipe for disaster.
welcome to bizzarro world.
