shinyblurry plays his musical saw for Jesus

shinyblurry says...

This is just sour grapes for Fusionauts failed attempt to ban me. That being said, I enjoyed it so I will upvote. I have no problem being identified with someone who obviously loves the Lord.

I will also take this opportunity to say that I do love Jesus, with all that I am, and that I am grateful beyond words for his mercy and love. That he saved me, an insignificant sinner, though I most certainly didn't deserve it. That He loved me before I even knew Him, and even that little things in my life concern Him.

He is the way the truth and life, and the only way to eternal life. This world is perishing and nothing here will last..but His words will never pass away, and He is there for all that are in need, all who are suffering and downcast and degraded by this world. He is the light of the world, who gave His life as a ransom for many, so you and I could be forgiven and receive life eternal with Him in paradise. May His kingdom come soon!

1 Timothy 1:17

Now to the King eternal, immortal, invisible, the only God, be honor and glory for ever and ever. Amen.

I actually can't think of any other time in over two years when I've *unreservedly* agreed with something you've said. Can we have an argument to settle my confused head?

In reply to this comment by Winstonfield_Pennypacker:
Hate is hate, no matter who is doing it. The past suffering of women does not justify current women jumping on a hate bandwagon in the name of 'retribution'. The past suffering of minorities does not justify current minorities jumping on a hate bandwagon in the name of 'retribution'. The past suffering of Palestinians (or Jews) does not justify current people jumping on a hate bandwagon in the name of retribution & fairness.

See the pattern here? We have all these groups who point to past injustices, and use it as justification to make THEIR OWN evils sound somehow more acceptable. I reject all such self-excuses as evil. Pure, 100%, unadulterated evil.

It isn't funny to tell a racial joke just because it is about whites. Racism is racism. It isn't funny to joke about mutilating a man. Sexism is sexism. It isn't funny to lump all the Tea Party into one bucket and pretend they are all Timothy McVeigh. Prejudice is prejudice. Anyone who practices it is an evil person, and needs to take a good hard look in the mirror at themselves. These are all different manifestations of the same disease. Hatred. And it isn't funny.

I would not say that one action, or even multiple makes an evil man.

Additionally, I will say that if one group tolerates a growing corruption, a festering if you will, within, then they are the ones propagating "racism" or "sexism" within their group. Not those who "prejudice" against them. And besides, prejudice is a natural instinct, a safety mechanism of sorts. Without it, we would all be dead.

Hatred, however, is counter intuitive...

But, upvote your comment because despite the trivial distinctions in definitions I make, you are on point.

being an idiot is not a good way to change people's attitude towards bears.
Didn't Timothy Treadwell and Werner Herzog teach us anything?
..and don't give me some crap about grizzlies being dangerous and black bears being harmless. That logic would imply that it's fine to taunt a grizzly because it's not as bad-ass as a polar bear. Bears are dangerous. Accept it.. treat them with the respect the deserve.

Well, no, it would imply that black bears are behaviourally different than grizzlies in a way that makes them less of a threat. These assessments are done species-by-species, according to the facts, not with an arbitrarily imposed system of logic.

well, no. Saying that black bears are "less of a threat than Grizzlies" is both true and a good message to get out there. Saying that "black bears are harmless" is will get people killed and is criminally negligent.

St. Mark 8.38 For he that shall be ashamed of me and of my words, in this adulterous and sinful generation: the Son of man also will be ashamed of him, when he shall come in the glory of his Father with the holy angels.

2 Timothy 1:8 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord or of me His prisoner, but join with me in suffering for the gospel according to the power of God,

Matthew 5:15 Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.

Matthew 5:10 Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness, for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

Paul and his cohorts had to face lions; you can't even take a little ribbing on an anonymous thread that few people are even paying attention to. Now what does that say about your convictions?

I guess that if Nostradamus wrote it more would probably give it more credit.

What's interesting is that people don't realize or don't admit to themselves that they were always like this. Even in Rome. If you love history so much then I'm surprised you would fool yourself into thinking that there was some better time in the past when people were more moral. It just so happens that the people who are allowed to write everyone's history tend to think very highly of themselves. But more and more, as technology allows individuals access to the ability to write their own history and have it preserved, then we learn what truly goes on in the world and are forced to reconcile.

Way more people still give credence to the Bible than to the writings of Nostrodamus, but the two groups have one very strong common thread: the obsession with "end times".

Did you skip your history class?

Dark Ages referred to the period of time ushered in by the fall of the Western Roman Empire.

The decline of the Roman Empire refers to the societal collapse encompassing both the gradual disintegration of the political, economic, military, and other social institutions of Rome.

To be sure Christians have done their good part in making a mockery out of religion. This doesn't make the Bible wrong. Just piss poor examples that do more harm than good.

The irony of this is that our 21st Century world is no less dark. It is an individual darkness, which multiplies and grows as those who reject Gods walk. Our age is characterized by every intellectual and technological advance but our morals have turned backwards.

From 2 Timothy 3
1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.

The Book of 2 Timothy was written in approximately A.D. 67 which is interesting that for something written so long ago appear so timely today.

Are Christians the New Persecuted?

soulmonarch says...

Samples from *MY* Bible:

"...you will be hated by all nations for My name’s sake." Matthew 24:8
"...all who desire to live godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution." 2 Timothy 12:10
"...they will lay their hands on you and persecute you..." Luke 21:12
"Do not marvel, my brethren, if the world hates you." 1 john 3:13

Christians have always, and will always be persecuted. It's part of the deal. Get over it.

But more importantly, those lazy fucks talking about having their feelings hurt need to wake up and realize that they have a good schtick going on. Western society in the few hundred years is the only culture in the history of the world to have tolerated Christianity the way they do. In almost every other area of the world Christians are being ostracized from society or killed for their faith.

Lioness trusts Kevin Richardson with her newborn cubs

EndAll says...

Well, not really, as he doesn't work with stingrays. But I'm sure you know that, and are merely trying to imply that he'll end up getting mauled eventually. That's certainly possible. But it's important to note that Richardson hand-raises practically every lion (and hyena) in the enclosure he works for (which is a wildlife reserve) and while still large, dangerous animals, he has a unique, very special bond with them, and they are to a slight degree tame. If you've seen this video before, it serves as another example of the rare bond I speak of.

Yet the point stands, they could kill him at any moment. However Richardson maintains, despite that fact, that he would do it all again in an instant, no regrets. He feels the work he does to protect these animals is worth the price he could ultimately pay. And I'm sure Irwin felt the same way about his career, bless him.

Your comment was harmless, but elsewhere on the internet where ever these videos of Richardson are posted there are always people likening him to Timothy Treadwell and jumping to the same conclusions over and over again without knowing very much about the broader context of the work he does. Personally, I admire him and all those who risk life and limb for something they believe in and care for. (Which reminds me, I've to buy some poppies)

Anyway, that's my 10 cents.
