The Man Who Accidentally Killed The Most People In History

BSRsays...

My first job was when I was 14 at the town newspaper at the end of my street. They had a machine called a Linotype. (line of type)

It made type ingots from lead which would print text after being inked up and then pressed onto paper. Sometimes my job was to clean the ink off them and put them into buckets so they could be melted down and used again. My hands would be coated with lead.

I also handled lead type in high school for two years.

Guess I should get tested eh?

When it comes to memory issues, I've had a bad memory for as long as I can remember.

You can see the lead bar hanging on the machine.

I would argue that the man who killed the most human beings in history is Fritz Haber. Between breaking the Malthusian Bargain (leading to a massive population explosion and everything associated with it) and creating the means by which high explosives can be created on an industrial scale (and everything associated with it), he's pretty much the single most influential person who's lived since the establishment of agriculture.

Bonus points for: creating the first "true" chemical weapons (in WW1) and his encore, Zyklon B (yes, he created the precursor, not the final product).

When does the class action against all remaining parent companies of the ethyl company and his descendants start?

It only took one liar to create an unavoidable Idiocracy.

Note, this only mentions the effects on humans, but lead poisoning effects every kind of animal on the planet.

His name should be better known than Hitler, Pol Pot, and Mussolini combined….and more despised. What a douche bag.

The shocking part of that isn’t the brain dead decision process that makes them think that’s ok, nor the ignorance it takes to not switch to alternate fuel additives…it’s the fact that you can’t find the same thing in most red states. Economy over ecology is a right wing mantra.

Effective January 1, 1996, leaded gasoline was banned by the Clean Air Act for use in new vehicles other than aircraft, racing cars, farm equipment, and marine engines.

Why not altogether? Who fuckin knows- prolly lead brained idiots think it's better for their farm equipment. They spew exhaust into the chief export of Indiana: Corn. You know, the syrup they put into basically every food you eat.

Fun Fact: "Lead does not biodegrade, or disappear over time, but remains in soils for thousands of years."

But hey, you can save a few pennies if you poison the entire planet for the next few thousand years now... so... VOTE REPUBLICAN

Cue Bob cheering for leaded gasoline while also blaming its effects on Democrats.

kinda makes a body wonder doesn't it?

how much lead could have lead to one's suppressed mental functions?

what could have been?

am no velvet tam wearer, but certainly not red mad hatter material.* maybe should be proud of what little there was to work with. a little less embarrassed about what didn't go right either.

maybe if this was known, would have given license to beg off father's "WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING!"

"Sorry Pops. All that lawn mowing must have affected your son too much."

But then...WTF is the excuse for Twitter?

*mad as a hatter. mercury nitrate.
