How Nestle Makes Billions Bottling Free Water

Nestle, the world’s largest food and beverage company, bottles Michigan’s water for next to nothing and sells it at great profit. And the state has just approved its request to pump even more, despite the failed promise of jobs and 80,000 public comments against Nestle. Meanwhile, just two hours away, Flint still doesn't have clean water.

Hate to be that guy again, but I can't help myself.

So, the accusation is that extracting underground water in high enough volume has ruined the water levels in the rivers. The video however, presents multiple anecdotes from locals as 'evidence'. Including even pointing at a high water mark by a bridge/culvert. You know, in a creek that rises and falls heavily between spring melt and fall.

The lack of any meaningful evidence really skews me to classing this as propaganda over documentary. No effort what so ever was made to prove the allegation that Nestle's operations are influencing creek/river water flow.

Do they make billions? Do they make hundreds of millions? Do they make tens of millions? Is revenue the same thing as profit? Who cares? Do they pay for the water they pump? Could they be charged more? Would they pump somewhere else? Why do people buy bottled water over drinking tap water?

Protest! Big bad corporation!

TL:DW....I think bottled water has always been a scam.

I can count the number of disposable water bottles I've purchased in my lifetime on one hand. I don't understand why people buy them regularly.
Get a good filter and stainless steel bottle and stop tossing out plastic.

The problem isnt Nestle making money off free water. The problem is lazy shits providing them with a market for it.

What a scam.

Small town should charge Nestle the same rate for water as its citizens with a 15% discount for volume for 10 years.

At which point the small towns should be pumping their own water and selling it, keeping profits and fixing their town.

Keep water local keep profits local.

Yep, while there are times for having bottled water like being on an outing or something, when I'm at home the water thats filtered and comes out of my fridge ice cold is more than fine.

But yeah Nestle should PAY for all water pumped just like every household that uses water does. This is just corporate welfare at its finest.
