Follow either of these two sets of instructions to fix your computer:
- Edit your "hosts" file
- Look at Wikipedia to find the location of the file named "hosts" on your computer. On Windows XP, Vista, and 7 it is located here: %SystemRoot%\system32\drivers\etc\ (where %SystemRoot% is most likely c:\windows).
- Open the file with the program called Notepad (from Start -> Programs -> Accessories)
- Add this line to the bottom of the file then save it:
216.18.199.34 videosift.com www.videosift.com
- (If you're a Mac user and can't figure out your hosts file, try a link or two.)
- Change your computer's preferred DNS servers (requires more tech savvy)
- On Windows: In Local Area Connection Status -> Properties -> Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) -> Properties (on most computers) just set your "Preferred DNS server" to 8.8.8.8 and your "Alternate DNS server" to 8.8.4.4 - these are Google's DNS servers that they provide for the public
- If necessary or if not on Windows, read full instructions here
- After changing your DNS it may help to open a Command Prompt and type:
ipconfig /flushdns
