Regarding the oddly Twilight Zone-like happenings with the Siftquisition, possible sock puppetry, and unrelated temporary banning of MrFisk, I just thought I'd share a little information with the community to clarify the result of the sock puppetry accusation so it's clear why he wasn't permanently banned.

Every one of DrAlcibiades' votes, posts, and comments came from a single, real IP that is different from any IP used for any of MrFisk's votes, posts, and comments, which are all from a single IP as well (so a TOR proxy isn't likely). DrAlcibiades almost never voted on a MrFisk submission any sooner than over an hour after submission (on three) except on two videos on which he voted 10 minutes and 50 minutes after submission.

When asked about his relationship with DrAlcibiades and his vote history, MrFisk replied the following:

He's a good friend of mine. We met in the dorms about 10 years ago. UNL. I'd been trying to get him to join for awhile but he is lazy. When he found that video he decided to join. I watched it and thought it would be hugely successful; not realizing notoriously infamous. I told him what to put and even suggested the description be taken strictly from the video. That way no scrutiny would come down upon him for faulty descriptions etc. Another friend of ours is going to Sri Lanka to investigate suicide bombings sometime next year as a cultural anthropologist, so perhaps, that's why we didn't realize it would be deemed a snuff film. The irony is I was about to post it before him, had the fucking thing embedded and everything, but yielded at the last moment. Immediately after he posted ashes2flames jumped on him. In hindsight I realize why. But then it escalated into the siftquisition, which I didn't really know what that was. I had never been to sift talk. I didn't know what sock puppeting or trolling were. I have voted for other member vids before because we have similar tastes. I would never had imagined how out of hand it would get. On top of it all I cracked my fucking molar Friday night eating chee tos! So all day Sat. and Sun. I was drinking like a hobo. That's when I saw my vid get downvoted and I got upset and you know the rest. I hope my honesty will negate permanent banning and help thwart future mischievousness. Well, there you have it. It's safe to assume I ain't doing that shit again.

I just asked him to upvote all my vids when he signed up. Perhaps, we were on the phone when a couple of the last ones were submitted but I really don't recall. I thought he did them all at once.

So, please take from all that what you will, but all this information did supply more than enough reasonable doubt for us to believe the DrAlcibiades account did not belong to MrFisk.

I realize downvoting is not the answer, as I said before, although the apology to the member wronged seems to have been unseen, ignored, or simply eclipsed. A two week ban is a righteous judgment, I feel. I was counteracting a downvote on my Stephen King post, giddy with anger and drunkenness ...
