film the police-an OWS call to arms

eric3579 says...

Intro (Sage Francis):
Right about now, the SFR court is in full effect!
Judge Sage presiding in the case of the People vs. The Police Department.
Prosecuting attorneys are: Toki Wright, Jasiri X and B motherfuckin’ Dolan.
Order! Order! Order! B. Dolan, take the motherfuckin’ stand.
Do you swear to tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth?
(Dolan: You goddamn right.)
Then why don’t you tell everyone what the fuck they have the right to do?

Verse 1
(B. Dolan):
Film the Police. Run a tape for the underclass!
Get the face, name and number on the badge.
They flash, we flash back when they act disorderly.
React accordingly and capture all that we see…
Nightstick, Zip-ties, and Tasers.
Think they’re licensed for type vicious behavior.
Make a tight fist with a video trained toward the Pigs,
Like this. They trip & you make ‘em famous.
Explain to a Judge the bounds you oversteppin’.
2011 time to the change our method.
We aim lenses at the State’s weapon,
‘Til they remember whose goddamn streets they’re protecting.
They’d rather see me in a cell
Than me and my cell with a different story to tell.
Camcorder by the dash. Next time you get stopped,
Reach for the celly if you wanna shoot a cop.
On a public sidewalk, you can tape what you see,
Or film from your window with a view of the street!
Neighborhood Crime Watch, we police the Police.
They can’t arrest the whole community.
Because the streets clock. These cops occupying blocks,
Harassing the homeless with batons, pulling glocks.
They stop lawful protests and let off shots…
Abuse prostitutes and misuse power they got.
In memory of the victims who are never forgot,
We’ve gotta’ exercise our right to shed light in the dark.
There is an army on the march that doesn’t want you to watch.
You’ve got a weapon in your pocket whether you know it or not.
We, the people, are the only real media we got.
Let’s protect one another from the fucking goon squad.
Fascism’s coming to the U.S.A.
Eyo, Sage, I got something to say!
Verse 2 (Toki Wright):
Film the police! It’s time to make it our priority.
You see these fools are in abuse of their authority.
Crack a fist or you crack a whip.
But that ain’t power you coward, you beat a man with two shackled wrists.
So put their names up on a list next to an asterisk.
Next time you see ‘em blast a clip, then you flash a flick.
Attach a video and pic to your master list.
Be on the news at 6. YouTube views legit.
The cops watch us, so we gotta have the Cop Watchers.
Been in fear of law so long, so now it’s not awkward.
But what is law when it’s wrong. When you slam us on the floor.
Naw, this ain’t World Wrestling Entertainment Raw.
This is Edutainment, y’all. Got a call from B. Dolan.
You try to squabble with Johnny Law and get your meat swollen.
Why you think Bobby and Huey P. were heat holding?
You better load the footage up and get to key stroking.
And while you at it, send one off to the administration,
It’s indicating, all the physical intimidation.
It’s been too long they said to “bear with us.”
That’s when I run up on your caravan and rip off all your D.A.R.E. stickers.
This here is near Hitler’s; weirder than some mere tickets…
You feel privileged ’til your wife get her brassiere lifted.
You disappear quick as Hoffa if you piss a copper,
Off ya’ til you get a Channel 7 News helicopter.
Violence hides in a code of silence, tyrants hide in an alliance,
Quiet or be left somewhere, or get swept inside it.
It’s Goliath vs. a bigger giant.
Got us pulling over so far we ran a curb and hit a hydrant.
It’s systematic how the system has its symptoms,
Of the democratic law that’s been flawed since the pilgrims landed.
So now tell me what you wanna do? Next time you see the boys in blue,
You cock your camera back and point and shoot.

Verse 3 (Jasiri X):
Film the police! I got the Cannon 7D.
Highest definition for when they try to arrest and lynch ‘em,
Then lie and protest the whippin’, not serve and protect the victims.
Their murders, threats and hitmen…observe ‘em and let the witness be
The iphone. Never let bygones be bygones.
Get your flip cam before they get in the whip and ride on.
It’s vital ’cause our survival could depend on a video going viral,
With more viewers than American Idol.
Instead of having to bury a child who…
The cops shot ’cause they thought they carried a rifle.
Then the same cops will go to court and swear on a bible,
And smile to show the teeth that they’re preparing to lie through.
Whether Crips or Piru ,Vice Lords or Gangsta Disciples,
Make sure your camera lens gets an eyeful.
And they liable to try and confiscate it.
Better hold on to that shit like you’re constipated.
‘Cause they’ll pretend them injuries are not related,
Like, “When we arrived we saw him dive head first off the pavement.”
So keep the mini cam stashed in the dash of your mini van.
They’ll crash and smash on any man.
Pull out your Blackberry ’cause cops will take a shot at your black berry,
‘Til we see another black buried.
Don’t act scary, ’cause they’ll empty the gat on ya’,
Stand over your body just to sprinkle the crack on ya’.
Police attacking ya’. Don’t want to see they reflections like Dracula.
But camera’s capture ya’.
Too busy using your flashlight to batter us,
To notice John Singleton was my passenger.
So point, click and shoot they asses,
It’s the only way to get the real truth to the masses.
Jasiri X, I’m making movies like Spike Lee.
I won’t be a law and order special victim like Ice T.

B Dolan-which side are you on?

eric3579 says...

Who let the torch passed fall in the tall grass?
Fire alarm wire’s disarmed, what do you call that?
Call it predictable political cliche
So when the movie ends, the revolution’s dead. Replay
the sequence of events that led to these deep divisions;
I’ve realized that all the wrong people are in prison.
The children wanna know if I believe in the Reptilians!
I tell em ‘I don’t know’ but on the TV I see lizards.
When action was in fashion you were such an easy mimic!
Bumpersticker quote lifting, crib note statistics,
Grasp for the straw man, born again cynics
Fair-weather firebrand; spark my suspicion.
We knew you were the type to take the fight like a gimmick,
and rock the t-shirt when your sweat wasn’t in it.
The clock is still ticking for the victim of the future,
You’re waiting til’ they look like you to ever choose but–
Chorus:
Which Side Are You On?
Which Side Are You On?
(Damn)
Which Side Are You On?
(Ask the Industry.)
Which Side Are You On?
(Ask an Emcee.)
Verse 2:
Who wrote the greatest lines of our generation,
but couldn’t get from under their own small-minded hate trip?
The same rappers say they’re trooping the frontlines,
and casually use the word ‘Faggot’ as a punchline.
That’s not a man, that’s not a tough guy.
That is a sucker and a fraud to the culture!
Hip Hop is folk music grown from the struggle and
half these fools could put the mic down and run as a Republican.
Fuck ‘em then; they learn from their own wrong.
Homophobes don’t go to my shows, we too strong!
And if you’re in the front row, harassing girls during a song
I will reach and ask you exactly–
Chorus:
Which Side Are You On?
Which Side Are You On?
Verse 3:
I’m on the side of poor people getting organized;
I’m on the side of Choice where it is in short supply;
I’m on the side of those the system doesn’t authorize;
L-G-B-T We are on the side of Pride,
Justice and Equality;
Egypt to Wisconsin when they march against the Policy;
If you bringing down a King I’m on your side probably.
Kids’ll give me shit for this it really doesn’t bother me.
They were not around when we were wrestling with poverty.
So I follow none and ask no-one to follow me
Use your own mind, use your heart and your anger
Check yourself because Apathy is a cancer
And let your action be the answer.
Chorus
Which Side Are You On?
(Ask your government)
Which Side Are You On?
(Ask your media)
Which Side Are You On?
(Ask yourself)
Which Side Are You On?
Sample:
Don’t scab for the bosses,
Don’t listen to their lies.
Us poor folks haven’t got a chance
Unless we organize.

"Stupidity of American Voter," critical to passing Obamacare

shinyblurry says...

@Trancecoach @dag @blankfist @enoch @VoodooV @ChaosEngine

Not that I approve of his behavior if it is in fact true that Trancecoach downvoted Enochs videos out of spite (I think that is wrong)...but the same thing happened to me and nobody cared. I don't think the issue is the rules, I think the issue is that Trancecoach isnt popular with some people and they want to get rid of him.

As far as the video is concerned, I think it is amazing..even msnbc played it on Morning Joe. It may serve to turn the public against the ACA even further and may give the republicans more political capital..but ultimately, as Enoch hinted at, the game is being played on a deeper level. Yet, It is not the elites we need to worry about. It's a spiritual war that is going on and everyone is a loser when they play this game:

Ephesians 6:12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the cosmic powers over this present darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly places.

police shooting of mentally disabled man

ChaosEngine jokingly says...

That's not fair! There were only 7 or 8 police officers. There's no way they could have used a taser or pepper spray or even wrestled him to the ground.

There's absolutely no way any SANE person can excuse that, the police had every opportunity to safely use non lethal force, but chose to use only lethal force

I have wrestled with a few people (mostly females), tackled a few people who were running from the police, pointed my weapon at a few people, and drive-stunned (taser) one guy who was resisting arrest. That's it for 30 years.

My dept. usually had around 35 officers and I've known two of them since 1975 or so who have shot at anyone. One officer shot a guy who was trying to run him over in a car, that guy was killed. The officer left the dept and found other work.
Another officer-involved shooting was an officer who shot a guy who had committed a homicide and was running away.
One shooting involved a cop who was shot at and returned fire, hitting one guy with a grazing shot.
So that's a hell of a lot of interactions with people (average about 2000 people per year arrested) with very little deadly force involved.

If you want to counsel police officers involved in using force...that's fine with me.

newtboy says...

I'm curious, you say you have used force, but not these kinds of force. What kind of force have you used? What I see left (of the obvious) is wrestled with, kicked, and/or tazed, but that doesn't mean you have or have not done these or other forceful acts.
My point about counseling is if cops use force it was either necessary (because they or others were in immediate danger) and they should receive counseling so they don't start thinking all people are dangerous criminals that should be treated as such, or it was not necessary and they should receive counseling because they're a bully and/or coward with deadly weapons and a danger to all of us. Either way, counseling seems appropriate for each and every time 'force' is used. (The same should go for security of any kind, but they aren't public servants so I have less standing or reason to complain about them.) I know that's asking a lot, but it seems proper, reasonable, and healthier for all.

Last Week Tonight - Ferguson and Police Militarization

I think if I could just smash voodoo in the face one time that he would learn some manners because he does wallow in glee whenever he is able to troll someone, push all their buttons, and get away with it. Voodoo is not civil and needs to know that there are limits. Voodoo is the 'internet tough guy'. He knows that I cannot reach through the cloud and bust his nose.

Having said that, I have never struck anyone in 30 yrs of law enforcement experience. I have wrestled a few women, restrained a few men, tased one guy who was resisting arrest, never shot at anyone or used an asp on anyone.

I get along with everyone except for people who are temporarily full of themselves with attitude, but it's remarkable how docile people get after a few days in jail (I don't put them there, the court does). People with the biggest attitudes really go through a change of heart. I treat them kindly and considerately and get great results. I feel that if I treat them kindly that the next time they are less likely to assault another police officer.

Videosift is a fascinating forum. Questions with which the greatest minds in human history have wrestled for millennia are easily disposed of in a sentence or two by the most supercilious sophomore -- and not in a nice way, either, but with a full measure of pseudo-intellectual condescension.

Asmo says...

The point I'm driving at is that this is one of the cases where I think the end justifies the means.

People can take away what they like from watching it. "Aww poor kid", "Man those wrestlers are nice", "What a pack of bastards, exploiting the little bugger"... And that's fine, I'm not trying to tell people how to feel.

But one little guy who was suffering got a bright moment in the sun. I don't care if they go full idiot and publicise the shit out of it because it was worth it. Hell, I'd be pleased if self interest caused more people to be "altruistic" to high note themselves. It's the core of things like Ronald McDonald house, which is a PR exercise in it's purist form and yet still helps.

And if they hadn't publicised it, being an Australian who doesn't actually watch much wrestling, I probably wouldn't have heard of it at all.

But that's the thing... I can say I've done as much; hell, I've done much more to help more people and I continue to do it everyday. But what I don't do is turn it into marketing in order to sell myself or a product.

Instead, I take that bit of egotism that altruism does indeed feed and feel a little better about myself. I remain humbled by all the problems I couldn't fix and the people who inspire me, and I keep doing my work without self-aggrandizement or the need to draw attention to myself.

It is important that Connor had a good day and felt great. It is important that his father got to give his son something uplifting and wonderful in his short time on Earth. It is NOT important that the WWE tell us all about it so that we will think better of them and buy their product.

OH come on don't try to be like me. Yeah I think Cena is an outlier but my point is they don't market his stuff all that heavily so they could be doing more marketing than they do, but they don't because I think they realize it can be invasive.

I don't like the WWE specifically because they're bad at this wrestling thing now, they want to be all about the spectacle and nothing of substance. Which was basically your critique and I was more or less agreeing with you while pointing out certain things that make you look like a dick.

Because that's what's fun for me.

budzos said:

You're going to use an outlier like John Cena to make your general case? That doesn't seem intelligent.

What's more, anyone who makes a joke like "Only the WWE could get me to cheer for Cancer!" and then gets offended by what I've said can suck my dick. Fuck you Yogi. i'm serious. You sanctimonious cunt.

Yogi says...

Not always, Cena has done more Make a Wish granting thingies than anyone and they're not all known about or shown. They aren't featured on the shows barely at all, and most people don't even know that that is what Cena does.

So while marketing does have a purpose here and there's reasons for it, it's not like it isn't something nice to do and it's not like it's the sole reason.

Wrestling fans are a lot smarter than you think, for instance I'm a wrestling fan and I'm much, much smarter than you.

budzos said:

This is marketing and it's not surprising that wrestling fans can't see through it. Not that it's not nice. But the reason they do such nice things is that they are seen doing them.

9 years on the epitaph... What a fucking cruel life it is. I gave some money to a children with cancer collection man before, glad i did.

The wrestling is often hard to watch when not done by people who are really good at what they do. But holy shit some of those guys do things that money can't buy for some of the most vulnerable people. Ok, so that kid didn't get to grow up and live his life and do whatever he wanted to do out in the world, but right there and then at 8 years old he wanted to be a wrestler, and god fucking damned if he didn't get to pin HHH in a stadium in front of a crowd of respected wrestlers!

Most people will never get to do anything remotely like that in their whole lives, but that kid did and i think that counts for something, at least to him, and that's all that matters really. Ok a lot of them are getting paid well and a lot of people profit from the business but the wrestlers do go through a lot of immediate and exponential long term pain, and deliver one of a kind experiences to kids who don't get as long as the rest of us to find and have such experiences.

I think on balance i'm happy to pay for the odd pay per view and watch their adverts. If you can find a way to enjoy it (even ironically) then it's a good way to waste time and money.
