Just popped in to give my aftermath report as I'm 12 hours in the future to most of you. Watch out for zombie 'roos.

I'm loving it too, although it does have a few problems.

First, it's ridiculously easy. I'm playing on hard and I've ended up playing metagames to keep the challenge (i.e. no guns for clearing bases, knife and arrows only).

Second, the UI is awful. Crafting syringes is a pain in the arse. Everytime you craft a syringe you don't have equipped it asks you if you want to assign it a slot. Also once you've crafted all the holsters etc, you're probably carrying around half a rucksack of useless animal hides and good luck trying to sell them easily (double click on animal hide, confirm, repeat ad nauseam).

Finally, even though they've implemented looting there's no real reward for it. You end up with a few trinkets, and about $10 or so each time (while you've got about 10 grand in your wallet and nothing to spend it on, because you own all the guns).

But these are nit-picks. It's great fun, there are some memorable characters ("watch out for Vaas, he'll enslave your arse!") and the environment is just stunning.

Although I will say it's turned me into an ecological disaster. I was swimming out to an island and I say a manta ray. Did I stop to admire this majestic animal?

Hell no, I knifed that beastie to death in case I could get me a manta ray hat or something.

Then I was eaten by a shark. There's a lesson in there somewhere....

Wow, has it been that long? Well I'm psyched for 5.0. You and lucky are the Videosift Jesus, you can do no wrong so I'll take any change as positive. I'll be the (probably not) first and say by now I'm sick of the current design.


Yeah, so watch out for Videosift Judas, Videosift Jews and Videosift Romans. Or not... if shit goes down, you'll be fine in a few days anyway.

This is a fun idea but two things they better look out for:
1. forgiven debt is often counted as income by IRS and they will NOT forgive it if you don't pay your taxes.
2. they better watch out for financial privacy laws because if they cancel a person's debt then advertise their name and that they helped without consent then they could get in trouble.

Exactly right. It would never occur to me - not even if I knew there was an airport nearby - that a stop sign on the road would mean I was crossing a flight path. If there was a situation where I'd be driving across the flight path of landing aircraft I would fully expect more information. You get a warning sign a railway crossings, even though these are reasonably common and people know what they are. This road isn't crossing the runway, it's just close to one end. To a driver it looks just like a piece of road, nothing special about it at all. I'm fairly tall and drive a small car, so I wouldn't be able to see the plane without leaning right down to see the sky out of the far window of the car. It's not like driving out into traffic that you could be reasonably expected to know was there. Why are the people at the airport being so stupid about this?

Shit I used to say exactly the same thing as you guys, I used to always post about how annoying he is and then somewhere along the line I just accepted him for his act or who is and now I like him and the show. I have been programmed. Watch out.
