What really happened to Dave Chapelle in Hollywood

eric3579 says...

So what i gather is Daves old contract stipulated that his new contract would pay him 50% of what he had made Viacom. They then said it was to much money and that in itself invalidated the promise/clause made in the old contract. They then offered him 50 million for the new contract instead of the 250 he was promised from the old one. After he turned down their money they started a character assassination of him in the media for fear he was going public with how they were screwing him. Also i assume they were pissed he wasn't going to be making them a shit ton more money and they were going to punish him for it.

In one of his new stand up specials on Netflix (The Bird Revelation) he makes a comparison of what happened to him by recounting a story from Iceberg Slim’s book, Pimp: The Story of My Life. http://www.vulture.com/2018/01/dave-chappelle-pimp-story-bird-revelation-close-read.html

New Metallica song - Moth into flame

eric3579 says...

Blacked out
Pop queen, amphetamine
The screams crashed into silence

Tapped out
Doused in the gasoline
The high times going timeless

Decadence
Death of the innocence
The pathway starts to spiral

Infamy
All for publicity
Destruction going viral

Light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Bulletproof
Ah, kill the truth
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
High again

Sold your soul
Built a higher wall
Yesterday
Now you’re thrown away

Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame

Twisted
Backstabbing wicked
The delusion absolution

Perjurer
Fame is the murderer
Seduce you into ruin

Light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Bulletproof
Ah, tell the truth
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
High again

Sold your soul
Built the higher wall
Yesterday
Now you’re thrown away

Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame
Burn

Guarantee your name, you go and kill yourself
The vultures feast around you still
Overdose on shame and insecurity
If one won’t do that fistful will

Death scene
Black hearse the limousine
A grave filled with seduction

Vaccine
Fame does the murdering
She builds up for destruction

So light it up
Ah, light it up
Another hit erases all the pain
Bulletproof
Ah, no excuse
You’re falling, but you think you’re flying high
High again

Sold your soul
Built the higher wall
Yesterday
Now you’re thrown away

Same rise and fall
Who cares at all?
Seduced by fame
A moth into the flame

Canadian Sergeant-At-Arms back on duty the next day

I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, but this video was honoring a person who defended others and you come around trying to make a political point out of it.

The world is a worse place with people like you in it... You can't let go of your petty point scoring for just a few seconds?

The guy in the video is a true hero, he doesn't seem to want the applause and it's obviously deeply upsetting to him. I'm sure he regrets what he had to do even though he would make the same decision every time.

You though. Like a vulture coming around to pick the leavings. You aren't wanted, aren't needed, you're a pebble in a shoe and the sooner you get tipped out, the better.

Shame on you.

Liberals applauding a murderer with a gun when its their hide being saved.

Funny how liberals quickly change their mind when its their life on the line, then it's ok to have a gun.

Why War is Killing Less of Us Than Ever

*quality video.

If anyone would like to read more on this subject, I recommend Steven Pinkers The Better Angels of Our Nature, which also covers deaths by crime, disease, malnutrition, etc. It's one of the most information dense books I've ever read, filled with all kinds of historical anecdotes* and grisly statistics about violent deaths per capita throughout history, but it basically boils down to this:

we live in the healthiest, happiest, most peaceful time in history.

The reason it seems so bad is that we simply have more access to information about conflicts, murders, etc than we did in the past.

It's important to note that while Vulture Capitalism isn't as bad as colonialism, it's still Pretty Fucking Bad.

* fascinating fact: the reason dinner knives are generally blunt (apart from steak knives) is because it's stopped people getting into an argument over dinner and stabbing each other. It was previously commonplace for everyone to carry their own knife to dinner and eat with it.

Fishing for piranha

They're opportunistic scavengers, much like vultures but without the wings and with the ability to breathe underwater. She would be fine if she fell in, maybe some small scratches but they would move away from her pretty quickly when she started splashing around.

World's largest eagle attacks Kittiwake birds

rich_magnet says...

Largest bird? Sort of. According to wikipedia:

Steller's Sea-eagle is the biggest bird in the genus Haliaeetus and is one of the largest raptors overall. Females typically weigh from 6.8 to 9 kilograms (15 to 20 lb; 1.07 to 1.4 st), while males are rather lighter with a weight range from 4.9 to 6 kilograms (11 to 13 lb; 0.77 to 0.94 st).[3] At its average weight, the Steller's outweighs both the average Harpy and the average Philippine Eagles by over 0.5 kilograms (1.1 lb; 0.079 st).[3]
...
The Steller's sea eagle has the second largest median wingspan of any eagle.[3] Both the wing chord and wingspan, at an average of 2.13 m (7.0 ft), are similar or slightly smaller than to those of the Steller's close relative, the White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla), which is rather smaller in both weight and total length.[3]
...
The bill is very large. In fact, the skull (at around 14.6 cm (5.7 in)) and the culmen (at around 7 cm (2.8 in)) of the Steller's Sea Eagle are the largest of any eagle and are comparable in size to those of the largest accipitrids, the Old World vultures.[7][8]

Tow Trucks Recklessly Race Each Other to Reach an Accident

Honestly? Good. Don't park on clearways right near the time, sorry but that seems like a no brainer, you should be gone before the time (even 5-10mins before). Not on it or a little after it, before it. The most frustrating thing in the world after cyclists (feel free, I don' hate you but you're still annoying as fuck ) is dicks who park on clearways, this causes a lot of traffic delays.

Goddamn vultures. In Melbourne, I've seen tow trucks driving up and down a section of road whose clearway times start soon so they can tow cars the second the clearway starts

Some people live on a clearway and have to park there over night. Few things annoy me more when driving than people parking in a clearway, but I'm not a dick. I don't demand they be out of it the minute the clearway time starts. People can be a bit late, you know
