Why Build Higher

Fairbs says...

didn't make it through the entire video, but it made me think of two things...
1 if businesses do environmental impact studies of their entire operations, for most businesses, the employee commute to work is the biggest one
2 urban sprawl creates a kind of regressive tax on poor people; land closer in is worth more forcing relatively poorer people to move farther away and then they are the ones stuck with the longer commute times and the resulting lowered happiness

Rashida Jones coaches Stephen on how to be a Feminist

newtboy says...

Yeah, I found it on urban dictionary....as I said, it's not English.
So, not only are you incredibly poor at comprehension, you're a complete douchebag....but no, I'm not unjustified, nor does it matter that you posted my private reply to you, I stand behind every word. It only goes to show you are the kind of asshole that posts private comments publicly if you think it helps you be an asshole.
EDIT: What you also failed to comprehend was I posted privately to indicate that I wasn't trying to publicly shame or lambast you for misreading....clearly the sentiment was not mutual, although you failed miserably in the attempt to shame me.
thank you come again....actually don't, I'm done with you're 12 year old girl bullshit. Fuck off, douchebag.
Smell you later, forever.

The History of Tentacle Porn Animated! (SFW)

loki999 says...

Bukkake is when a Mommy and a Daddy and a Daddy and a Daddy and a Daddy and a Daddy and a Daddy all decide that Mommy needs some special facial moisturiser. From the Urban Dictionary.

What? A discussion of strange Japanese sexual practices and no mention of bukakke? I'm unimpressed.

The Mosquito Killer Billboard

AeroMechanical says...

I'm fairly certain that attempting to kill the adult mosquitos (short of major DDT fumigating, which is frowned upon except in extreme situations) isn't considered very effective. It's the larvae you need to get, mostly by cleaning urban areas of old tires and other places where water collects unnecessarily.

Doctor Strange Teaser Trailer

artician says...

The space-bending urban environment isn't a look you stumble on coincidentally, so which came first? Did Inception riff this from the Marvel comic? Or are this films creators that lazy?

The Death Of National Geographic

newtboy says...

Yes...and yes. The Mary story was story after story of faith healings and visions portrayed as if they were certainly real, with no science involved and no other explanations given. I had skipped that story because I don't care about religion, but went back just now and read most of it. Yuck.

The magazine is not the same. This months issue's articles....
1)the photo ARK
2) The crossing-is death an event or more of a progression
3)where death doesn't mean goodbye
4)urban parks, when you're there, civilization can feel very far away
5)Ghost Lands-The Out Of Eden Walk passes through nations haunted by their history: Armenia and Turkey
Page 4 is a big "Why I went looking for spiritual answers" 'article' hyping "Story of God" with Morgan Freeman, which has other full page ads in the same issue.
So every story has some religious connotation except the 'urban park' story, which may or may not, I haven't read it yet.
It does still have some good photography, but also a lot of bland and boring photography, and that ratio is moving in the wrong direction.
I think I won't be renewing. I'll get Popular Science or Scientific American again instead.

Don't Try And Start Shit With A Letterkenny Dude

Khufu says...

Canadian here, have lived all across the country and have shed any and all regional dialects as a result. I studied "Standard North American English" in Uni, and sadly it just sounds like the news anchors of every major Canadian/American network. So Canadians and Americans in the larges urban centers have the same 'standard' and you'd be hard-pressed to tell them apart. But there are fun local dialects like this in both countries.

This is obvious, but I'm pointing it out because I get tired of Americans not in 'the know' saying Canadians sound funny when really all 'country folk' in both countries have odd local dialects.

Great timing and execution in this show though.

Drone Footage Of Homs (Syria) Aftermath

00Scud00 says...

It's such a terrible waste of life and property and yet there's always something I've found fascinating about the geometry of destruction. Probably explains why I'm 200 hours into Fallout 4, I find the urban environments in Fallout 4 to be much better than Fallout 3.
