Tsunami following 7.7 Earthquake in Indonesia

BSR says...

Actually they were on the top levels of the parking garage. Specificly the round ramp. You can see the garage in street view.

In the video the photographer runs to the other side of the garage to show water flowing up to the Green building.

Sagemind said:

So basically, the photographer and others must have been stranded on that green structure once the wave came in.

18 Teachers In Oklahoma Calling It Quits

eoe says...

It's a conflict of interest.

Why help fund an education that would provide people with tools to realize how much you're fucking them?

That's like asking someone on the other side of a river who stole your money for money to build a bridge.

They'd be insane if they didn't laugh them out of the capital.

The Check In: Betsy DeVos' Rollback of Civil Rights

bcglorf says...

@newtboy,
"Yeah, that's honest, move to a profession where one single specific type of performance is the entire job..."

Take any highly competitive field and you've got similar professional grading based upon excellence in the field. Legal, Medical, Engineering, the same kind of professionals can be found hunting for top tier talent in any of these, no different than the NBA. Their criteria can be every bit as colour blind and there is strong economic incentives to do so to boot.

"Side note: there have been some who suggested affirmative action in sports, requiring a certain number of white players on teams. Indeed, there were white leagues that fought tooth and nail to not let even the most talented non whites participate. Just sayin...."
And that would be racist, and it was wrong, and it's something we should be glad to be rid of.

Just sayin....

"Race is considered, period."
Reasonable, non-racist people are going to disagree with you. They are going to, correctly, call your policy racist.

Can you really not see the other side that thinks fighting racism with racism is the wrong approach?

We've all seen footage of waterfalls to nowhere when strong winds blow a waterfall up into the sky, this is the other side of that coin, a waterfall FROM nowhere. Neat.

New Rule: Dear Roseanne | Real Time with Bill Maher

bcglorf says...

This.

There are enough things wrong with Trump that shooting down everything about him in a one sided monologue looks the same as what Fox did with strawman arguments against Obama.

It's not enough to point out Trumps problems to people. You needed to have one of his prominent supporters on air to demonstrated that Trump is OBJECTIVELY worse than any other president. The other upside is actually getting a chance to have the voice of a Trump supporter like Roseanne out there so that maybe, just maybe, left leaning folks can hear the other side and find common ground. Until the democrats steal back people that voted Trump, the train is just gonna keep on rolling in the wrong direction.

Example, talking about rolling back Obamacare as though it should be obvious to poorer Trump supporters that they were screwed by this. You can't just change their opinion by calling them too stupid to know what their daily lives are like. You have to listen to the details of why they think their healthcare under Obamacare was, or would become worse than before it. I know my aunt and uncle in Alabama, although middle class, both swear that after Obamacare their costs went up and benefits went down. You have to listen to people a bit if you care about figuring out how to change their vote next term,

INTENSE CRASH | BIKER VS SEMI TRUCK

robbersdog49 says...

No, he wasn't run over. In the slow-mo you can see he goes into the truck immediately behind the rear wheels of the cab, and exits the other side also just behind those rear wheels. He's a long way in front of the trailer wheels all the way through.

Very lucky.

And yeah, that's one hell of a line!

New Rule: Distinction Deniers

What on earth do you mean by "can" lead?
We're already there.
Sadly sites like the one in question and even Hannity's show are useful in showing us the other side of the coin that big brother doesn't want us to see.
Society is a sick puppy.
Where losers rejoice at taking down anyone they "perceive" as being better than them.
(Kinda like that gangsta old lady parking violator video mentality on a larger scale)
The bit about the airlines was only a small part of the entire video and still holds up at any rate.
This is why men do have EVERY right to listen in and gosh darnit even COMMENT on the latest rules of conduct being introduced on how they should act and be treated in society.
I'm not even going to lower myself by entering the arguments here on what constitutes rape etc or how a broad slanderous brush will or will not solve the problems.
It's like dealing with people who sniffed glue or suffered brain trauma.
Like talking to anyone who actually thinks CNN is real news or isn't totally biased.
How it's totally ok for the FBI to do what it did and shame on anyone who tries to reveal it.
I always find it cute how CNN pushes news clips at you often not having anything at all to do with what you went there to read.
I am or was a liberal but this trend has gone far beyond troubling.

What is Pantheism? What do Pantheists believe?

Buck says...

I have never even heard the term before a week ago, my aunt said I should check out "scientific pantheism", The page I read was that nature itself can provide spiritual nourishment, without any magic, superstition or deities. When we look at the milky way and our jaw drops in awe, that is a similar experience in the mind to "feeling a god". , that is what I took from it so far. "But we are not talking about supernatural powers or beings. We are saying this: We are part of nature. Nature made us and at our death we will be reabsorbed into nature. We are at home in nature and in our bodies. This is where we belong. This is the only place where we can find and make our paradise, not in some imaginary world on the other side of the grave." https://www.pantheism.net/beliefs/

newtboy said:

Um....
Pantheism-a doctrine that identifies God with the universe, or regards the universe as a manifestation of God.
Pantheism-the belief that all reality is identical with divinity, or that everything composes an all-encompassing, immanent god.

I do not grok her words. "Thou art god" always seemed to cover Pantheism nicely in my eyes.

John Cleese On Trump's Base

newtboy says...

If that's your position, it's pretty damn stupid and blatantly hypocritical to then complain the other side lies almost 1/10 as much as your people....those untrustworthy lying monsters.
*facepalm

No, Bob, I don't watch CNN, not that there's anything wrong with watching them. They're infinitely more reputable than Breitbart, Fox, Glen Beck, reddit, RT, or Trump....your sources.

Triumphant Trump tax plan....ok, for him it is, granted, not us....but that's lost on you, like most reality. If video of him raping his daughter when she was 16 came out, you would say of course he had sex with her, she's hot, and he's a real man. It's impossible for you to admit he's less than perfect for some pathological reason, and it puts you in the position of spouting nonsense like that and defending the indefensible, often the exact things you complain about until he does them....like lie.

bobknight33 said:

Politicians are allowed to lie -YEP I stated that FACT. Dems do it Rup do it. - The do it all the time . Its not right but they do it.

Republicans did a great thing despite bitch and moan Democrats and squeezed through his TRIUMPHANT Trump tax plan.

You must watch too much CNN ,, you that shit hole media outlet.

Snow Day Fun...

CrushBug says...

My uncle had a very large frozen pond in winter, out back of his house. He used to shovel a skating area with 2-3 foot high berms of snow around it. Then he would hook up a tractor tire inner tube and tow us around with a snowmobile. It was the greatest day when we figured out how to put the tube on the other side of the berm and use the snowmobile to launch us off of the lip. We were thrown so high in the air we felt like we were flying, and only manages to land back on the tube about half the time. Didn't stop us from doing it for hours, despite the impacts.
