This Detective Outsmarts a Suspect

Reefie says...

This is not a skilled tactic. This is an interviewer being an asshole. Given my own experience and the people I work with, it is very probable that the person being interviewed is on the autistic spectrum and the 'tactic' will cause any trust that existed beforehand to evaporate.

Before anyone rushes to the interviewer's defence and profusely declares how much of a liar this guy is, stop and think for a moment. Would someone who is of sound mind and judgement say anything to compare themselves to Stewie Griffin? That is your first clue towards getting an appropriate interviewer in there.

I hope the assholes promoting this technique are eliminated from their jobs. They have a cruel streak if they truly believe this is a legitimate tactic.

I love how you proved me right again by just going silent when, for the 7396th time I proved my statements correct and proved yours to be lies with direct unadulterated, non biased information direct from the source, in this case the courts, the DA’s filings, and the publicly available portions of transcripts of the MAGA terrorist’s confession.
You have never once returned that favor in all the years you’ve been here. Not once….because you can’t prove lies with facts. You come up with stupidity like “it was Pelosi’s gay lover, he’s not MAGA” because you don’t care a bit about truth, honesty, civility, facts, or honor, you just need to be the biggest rancid uncleaned douche bag possible at all times in every situation. How’s that working out for you? ROTFLMFAHS!!!

Treasonous Trump’s traitorous lawyer Stefan Passantino being prosecuted for, as a Trump White House lawyer, instructing administration employees to lie to the Jan 6 committee about nearly everything.
The lawyer informed them to claim they don’t recall when they absolutely did recall information, saying “they don’t know if you know, so it’s fine.”
Ba-da-dum dum dum….another one bites the dust.
He was fired for intimidating his “clients” who were testifying against Trump on behalf of Trump. He’s also charged with making lucrative employment offers to witnesses if they testified right, offers that were all withdrawn when they testified honestly.

He also took private privileged attorney client information and told opposing council (Trump’s other lawyers) in direct contradiction of his client’s stated wishes AND THE LAW.

Every move by Trump’s team is a crime, every statement a lie, every accusation an admission. You sure picked one hell of a losing team….you all must have gotten real tired of winning, because you really stopped doing it long ago.

More Making Attorneys Get Attorneys. The real MAGA….because MAGA is a criminal terrorist enterprise….and you’re part of it.

Bonus, Trump’s DOJ hid the reports on the privately built sections of border fence because they showed complete failure to follow any environmental laws and horrific construction techniques so bad portions were falling down before the assessment could be done. He had the reports hidden in order to give the “construction company” (fraud) a $1.7 billion contract to “build” more. All of what they built is so sub par it may need another $2-3 billion to remove it as trash before it falls into the Rio Grande and becomes a major river hazard and environmental disaster.
Just another in the never ending stream of grift and theft from Trump….this one alone cost well over $2 billion. Go on, whine about how much the Jan 6 committee cost and beg for Hunter to be investigated. Such a mindless braying moron you are.

Can’t wait for those taxes…I bet you any amount Trump’s worth exponentially less than he claims. Trump had the IRS break the law and not audit him, in direct contradiction of his claims and the law.

Let's pull out our cooking utensils

kir_mokum says...

everyone who has touched a sampler or DAW has done this. it's one of the most basic production techniques. it's like painting a nursery room and thinking you're rothko or strumming an open tuned guitar and thinking you're tal farlow (with fallon clapping like a 4 year old the whole time).

What if Akira Was Animated At 60 Frames Per Second

Sketch says...

I agree that it doesn't look all that different to me. It doesn't totally destroy anything the way high frame rate destroys live action though. I could see the technique being put to more judicious and deliberate use by studios, but also see that it's largely unnecessary. Keep high frame rates for gaming, and maybe sports (so I hear, I don't really watch sports).

The Scariest Climate Science Paper I’ve Ever Read?

newtboy says...

I think the truly scary part is that our emissions today continue to have an effect on the climate for decades - centuries, so to affect today’s climate we needed to change our emissions decades ago or find feasible, economically and ecologically viable massive carbon sequestration techniques yesterday.

That’s why I believe we are locked into massive unsurvivable changes as a best case scenario, and a mass extinction of anything bigger than a large cat. Much worse if we continue the current course.

Heroic save

WmGn says...

Wow. There seem to be a lot of things wrong with that technique: I watched it thinking, "what would I have done differently?" Answer: he saved the child, in real time, without the benefit of hindsight, without any experience; I haven't.

Deceiving the brain with the rubber hand illusion

newtboy says...

Is this an accepted torture technique?
It seems like it could work wonders without causing any actual damage. Exactly what an interrogator would want.
You need more convincing rubber hands though.

Drawing strangers on the NYC subway

Please dont overthink this, those techniques take TIME to finish.
People on the subway dont have that much TIME. Also the subway train MOVES. The artist needs a STEADY hand and paper (and good light).

KO'ed Fighter gets choked out by ref when he keeps attacking

vil says...

How much more stupid and absurd can this "sport" be?

Imagine
"runner tripped by official for not staying in lane"
"f1 race leader crashed out by race director in pace car for infraction"
"swimmer held under water for using illegal technique"
"soccer referee fined for pretending to be injured"
except the above actually happened...

Schoolboy Arm Wrestling compilation

Schoolboy Arm Wrestling compilation

spawnflagger says...

It seems (to me, I'm no expert) that he's keeping his arm relatively stiff, and using the momentum of his entire upper body to do the work to pull his opponents' arm down. I'm sure he's quite strong, but also has technique and fast reflexes.

Land of Mine Trailer

psycop says...

These boys neither chose the age of conscription nor to go to war. Given their age and the time in the war, they would have been forcably made to fight. If you had the misfortune to be born then and there, thier fate could be yours.

Being in the German army did not imply being a Nazi, the majority of the German population were victims as well, pointlessly lead to slaughter by monsters.

Those of them that would have survived the fighting ended up here. They didn't feed them. They worked until they died. They expected them to die. They wanted them to die.

The Geneva Conventions were signed in 1929 making this an official war crime if that's important to you. I'd say the law does not define ethics, and I'd be happy to say this is wrong regardless of the treaty.

As for alternatives for mine clearance. I'm not a military expert, but I believe there are techniques, equipment, tools or vehicles that can be used to reduce the risk to operators. Frankly it's besides the point. Just because someone cannot think of a solution they prefer over running a death camp, does not mean they are not free to do so.

If you have the time, I'd recommend watching the film. It's excellent. And as with most things, particularly in times of war, it's complicated.

If you're old enough to go to war, you're old enough to clean up your mess.
Truer words were never said.
These kids should be eternally grateful they weren't treated the same way Germany treated POWs.
