Dropping A Bag Of Fake Weed In Public Prank

Teen Playing the Knockout Game Gets Shot Twice by Victim

Teen Playing the Knockout Game Gets Shot Twice by Victim

Stormsinger says...

As well as the adoption of the euphemism, I find it interesting that this is getting portrayed as "saved by the gun". Which is nothing close to the truth. The gun allowed the victim to get revenge, but it didn't protect him from the attack. Had the taser not malfunctioned, his gun would have been useless or worse, stolen and used against him.

It points out the weakness of the "guns as defense" claims...by definition, the attacker gets to make the first move. So unless you have your gun in your hand at all times, and are willing to shoot anyone you think suspicious, a gun will not prevent an attack. It -does- certainly provide incentive for the attacker to make his attack as lethal as possible, so that the victim has no second-strike capability.

Pennsylvania cops taser handcuffed 14-year-old in the face

bobknight33 says...

If the cops messed this kid without cause then yea bring the cops to justice.

If the kid did a faceplant from the taser because he was running away from the cops, then shame on you. Some lessons in life are hard.

Don't shoplift... Bad things can happen.

"Bucks County District Attorney David Heckler tells NBC10 that police officers yelled warnings at the teen and fearing for his safety, they fired a stun gun to subdue him. The D.A. says the Taser struck the boy in the face and with his hands cuffed, the boy had no way to brace himself against falling face-first."

I usually search for videos related to articles I read, that's why the title or the description might contain information that is not part of the corresponding video.

I didn't hear anywhere in the that video where it says the boy was tasered "in the face". It says he was tasered and then hit his face on the pavement. Seems someone can't get their video titles straight

Traffic Stop Nearly Turns Deadly

VoodooV says...

The mother deserves to be locked up and her kids taken away for being a total idiot.

but despite that, the gun discharge was totally unjustified. I think the taser use was completely justified however. She demonstrated complete and total stupidity and her actions endangered her kids...but dangerous enough to whip out a gun? nah.

would it be within the cop's rights to confiscate a person's keys in a situation like this? It wouldn't have been able to escalate like this had the mother not been able to drive away...twice. Or just some other way of preventing the car from driving away during a stop.

sure..wouldn't stop someone from having a second set of keys, but it would probably stop a lot of fleeing like this.

I just don't understand why someone hasn't developed a way of temporarily locking a car down for stuff like this. Would stop so much shit from escalation. Something they can do before they even talk to the suspect.

"Stun Cuffs" The New Shock Collar For The Sheeple

poolcleaner says...

I'll add this my ever growing list of things I hate in the first world: tasers, pepper spray, omnipresent invasion of privacy, water boarding, oubliettes, and, now, shock collars.

The voice of God is Government. And now that God has been ousted, we need a new machine of terror: TECHNOLOGY. And then we'll reintroduce God. Vicious cycle.

On this device, the electricity passes through a ~2" section of your thigh muscle if that's where it is attached. Electricity takes the path of least resistance. Even if applied directly over the chest the current will not go deep enough into the chest to effect the heart. That is why most people who are tasered with a traditional taser, where the path of current is across the chest, 99.9% do not die.

"Some people think this can affect your heart. It doesn't. What it does is send a charge through your body that locks up your muscles.".

Well good thing a heart is nothing like a muscle.

MSNBC PSA - All Your Kids Are Belong to Us

blankfist says...

@ChaosEngine, again, I don't entirely disagree with you. I think allowing the law to protect the rights of the individual makes total sense. Whether that individual is a minor or adult.

Where we definitely will have our disagreement is, as you mentioned, to the extent of the laws' reach.

I think laws should protect the minority, not impose the majority's will. I also believe children should have a voice in their personal choices that supersedes the will of the parents or the will of society.

I understand a seven-year-old child who was homeschooled that God will cure his cancer may not be the most qualified mind to make complex medical decisions, but, in the end, we either give people control over their lives or we pretend to know best.

Just because you and I don't believe God will cure little Jimmy's cancer doesn't mean we should have a right to tell little Jimmy he has to go to the hospital and receive care. Otherwise we end up with these kinds of stories.

The war on drugs is a perfect example of the majority, or community, knowing best how we should all run our lives. So was prohibition in the States. So are seatbelt laws, soda bans, sin taxes, prostitution bans, Tennessee's baggy pants law, bans on rain collection, fines for muddy tires, gambling laws, private establishment smoking bans, and even NJ going as far as to ban hugs in a middle school.

People know best how to run their own lives. Families at least have an interest in the well-being of their members. But the community doesn't always make the best legislative decisions when trying to do good.

Woman thinks all postal workers are after her

JustSaying says...

Looking at this downvote-fest clearly shows that mental illness is like flying planes and swimming with sharks. Everytime something horrible happens involving planes, sharks or insane people it's on the news, becoming the big story. Somebody shot up a school, details at five o'clock. Every fucking time.
These stories of terrible perril and death are so interesting, we make the best blockbuster cinema out of them: Psycho, Jaws and Snakes on a Plane (the double whammy of scary things!).
We're conditioned to fear that stuiff, we're comfortable fearing that. It looks and sounds scary and everybody can come up with easily terrifying scenarios.
Nobody is afraid of driving their car though. I wonder what the statistics make of that.
First of all, "better lock her up, she might get herself killed" is not an argument to lock up the crazy lady, it is an argument to lock up the postal worker. Before he goes postal on her. Yeah, that was a great pun, you better clap. But I meant: before he stands his ground.
Second, "she might be dangerous!"
Really? How do you know? Should we get the cops to taser her into submission? How would you like that video, "mentally ill woman tasered by cops"?
I see no weapon, I see no hint of her trying to get too close to that guy. She vents some paranoia and then leaves. She goes away. That's it.
Sure, her other videos may make her creepier but that's her thoughts she posting. I'm a man. If I'd walk around with a camera and record every thought of mine, I'd probably been locked away by now because there's a lot of people I'd like to shoot. In my thoughts. Not even touching upon the sex stuff here. Our thoughts tend to be weird and creepy. It applies to all of us.
Hers are just of the rails, as in mentally ill. And she's oversharing.
And finally, I'm not Chairman Woo but I endorse his message. And he saved me lots of typing.

How-to Disarm a Gunman

spawnflagger says...

I'd like to see a video where the gun is filled with blanks, and safety is off. (both should have proper hearing protection too). Then they demonstrate the same disarm technique and see if "the perp" can pull the trigger, or even if he can't, the gun might go off anyway during the disarm procedure. Then the instructor repeats this with several different students.

Not directly related - I wonder why you don't see more stories of muggers using tasers?

Aggressive Dog Tasered By Cop

Suddenly........................COPS!!

Drax says...

If that was the US there would be arcing streams of electricity dancing across the various cars due to all the taser fire.
