Flaming Indian Street Food

newtboy says...

So, the guy making the food with bare hands and actually stuffing his fingers in each customer's mouth is also the same person handling the filthy money, no hand washing involved.
Yeah....no chance of getting hepatitis and herpes there.
Sorry, they don't make fire hot enough to make this remotely OK for me.

Cat Reacts to Emergency Warning Alert System

I stick with step 0- stick out tongue, go full crazy stare, and freeze in hopes the disaster will mistake me for a stuffed animal and pass me by.

Ah. Thank you.

And still. Latin men and Italian men have more in common emotionally than they do Americans.

I am sooo looking forward to the time when American men break free from the box that they have been stuffed into by society.

Women have been at it, breaking free, for decades now and have a ways to go still.

We are all suffering from constructs from our youth. I swear.

KAMAZ Dakar Truck's Insane FOS Run

newtboy says...

The story has always been that the trucks were just support vehicles, carrying parts, fuel, and the team...then someone decided to race them too. Some still operate as support vehicles, with parts for their team car, but now many often only carry some spare parts and fuel for themselves (but aren't stuffed full) and do their best to keep the weight down, but still come out around 10 tons! These days the trucks can have support trucks.

I've always wondered, what's in the back of the truck? Is it just empty back there? Does it carry supplies? Extra fuel?

How we feel about modern art most of the time

yellowc says...

You're probably looking for "Contemporary Art" but this piece might well be "Modern" by definition.

Anyway read this book: https://www.amazon.com/Million-Stuffed-Shark-Economics-Contemporary/dp/0230620590

Spoiler Alert: Rich people scamming other rich people who then scam other rich people later. It's a cycle of perpetuating false value because unless you're the very last person ever to hold the item, it benefits everyone to keep the false value alive.

The nuisances allude me as I read this book quite some time ago but it's fairly interesting.

Ahhh Ricky.... It's ok

Irish People Taste Test Thanksgiving Food

moonsammy says...

Midwest here: other than the plate of turkey, stuffing, and cranberries, this is utterly unlike Thanksgiving to me. Also, I'll echo the "regular" vs cornbread stuffing. If we have cornbread it's as a chunk of cornbread, not stuffing. My wife and I handled our family's meal this year, and we had scalloped corn, dinner rolls, two types of mashed potatoes, a rich mac and cheese, and several types of (non-pecan) pie.

Most of this stuff I've never had for Thanksgiving or heard of it. Like WTF is butternut squash soup? Not only have I never had it for Thanksgiving, this is the first time I've even heard of it. Same for spice roasted carrots. I think I've only had carrots on Thanksgiving if we have a roast instead of Turkey. I've had scalloped potatoes, but never for Thanksgiving. Cornbread stuffing on Thanksgiving? I'm from the deep south and we don't have that for Thanksgiving. Probably because we eat cornbread every other day of the year, so for Thanksgiving we just have regular old stuffing.

poolcleaner jokingly says...

Cornbread stuffing is what my family has traditionally eaten in California. Oh wait, we're from Florida and South Carolina originally -- Oooooooooooooooooohhhhhhh. *lightbulb* Black people food is actually just southern cooking!!!!!!!!!!

(Oh hey, I actually used the sarcasm thingy. I'm never doing that again. Makes it too transparent that I'm just fucking with people.)
