Woman threatens to 'kill everyone on this plane'

C-note says...

I was on a flight where a woman acted out like this in first class. After slapping a stewardess a marshal pinned her down then they duct taped her to the seat. Strange enough when things calmed down the marshal held a glass of wine and allowed her to sip it down and she slept for the last 3 hours of the flight.

Curb your misunderstanding

CrushBug says...

OMG, this reminds me of the time I accidentally picked up a prostitute.

3 jobs ago, one of my co-workers took the bus along the route I drove each morning. After talking about it, we agreed that I would stop in this parking lot near where she would transfer bus routes and I could give her a ride to work. I would wait a few minutes and if she was there I would give her a ride, otherwise I would just head to work. I ended up giving her a ride about 2 or 3 mornings each week, so that worked out.

One morning, I was stopped in the parking lot and the door opened and this strange woman sat down. I looked at her and she asked me some weird question (don't remember) and I just said that I didn't think I was her ride and that I was waiting for someone else. She apologized and got out. I remember thinking that she was wearing some odd clothing for the fall and how cold it was this morning, but whatever. I dress like an idiot most times, so I am not going to judge someone's high-heels, shorts, ridiculously short jacket, and overly large earrings. My co-worker didn't show that morning, so I drove to work.

It was about 10 minutes later, during the drive, that I realized that I had almost picked up a prostitute that morning.

Donna Brazile: HRC controlled DNC and rigged the primary

scheherazade says...

This video is strange to me. It's like the guy woke up and realized what everyone else already knew before the election was even over.

Video makes references to the DNC/Hillary campaign calling the emails a conspiracy - but I don't remember them ever denying the authenticity of the emails.
All it would have taken was one phrase : "these emails are made up".
But they didn't - and the only reason to not deny, is if you know it will be confirmed and you will be caught lying.

The irony of the situation is:
- DNC&Hillary rigs primary election against Bernie, undermining democratic elections.
- *Russia steals and leaks documents showing that the DNC was undermining democratic elections.
- *Russia is the bad guy, because 'letting people know that elections are being rigged' is making people upset at the cheaters, and is improperly influencing elections against the cheaters.

So, apparently it's fine if you cheat, but it's cheating if you let people know who's cheating.

It's like the bizarro episode from SeaLab2021, only applied to political sensibilities.

John Oliver - Australia's Postal Survey

Jinx says...

I don't think brussel sprouts are food, but I won't be campaigning to stop other people eating them if they want to.

They must think gay marriage devalues the currency, that their marriage will somehow be less sacred because other people have a different idea what it means. As if straight people haven't been fucking it up enough already.

Also, does anybody else find it strange that gay marriage seems to be entirely about men most of the time. Why is that?

ps. Can straight people get a civil partnership now please.

Rotary Jails and Accidental Amputations

greatgooglymoogly says...

Strange that a hand crank would have the power to amputate someone's limb. Especially since the gear reduction doesn't seem to be all that high, there's just not that much friction in the system to overcome.

Why Magneto Can Never Be In the MCU

Mordhaus says...

Ahem, Wanda Maximoff aka Scarlet Witch. Just as an example, although not seen (yet) in the MCU, both Dr. Strange and Charles Xavier together could not totally defeat her.

Quicksilver could probably take him down as well, but he is no longer available in the Avengers movie canon.

While not shown in the MCU, and therefore up to speculation, Thor's hammer can actually absorb Magneto's magnetic manipulation and cannot be controlled by Magneto. There is an alternate universe comic that shows Thor with multiple versions of the hammer, but only one is the actual Mjolnir. At one point, Magneto captures one of the non-Mjolnir hammers because it has a base of Iron instead of Uru (the metal used to forge Mjolnir).

So, pretty funny, but far from accurate. Obviously, Hulk doesn't seem to care who he smashes (if they are heroes or villains), so I don't think he would back down either.

Colonel Lawrence Wilkerson: Trump is Clueless on North Korea

shinyblurry says...

It seems strange to argue that we need to protect the North Korean economy so that the people don't suffer..when they are suffering so horribly under their latest dictator and have been for decades. They don't need a better economy, they need regime change.

The moment to do that was a long time ago. Now the price to do that is far, far too high..yet we can see that the price of allowing a nuclear North Korea which can terrorize the world with nukes and sell them to terrorists is much higher still.

What do we do? I really don't know. I am praying for wisdom.

Nerdwriter - How Not To Adapt A Movie

RedSky says...

It was definitely dumbed down thematically though, especially from 1st/2nd GiG. While they were pretty pretentious (e.g. 'second order simulacra'), at least they were full of things to think about. The whole 'give consent' theme was as far as I can tell introduced in the adaptation and immensely cringe inducing.

What also irritated me is how they created a weird mish mash of the seperate Ghost in the Shell stories for no good reason. Why did they have to combine the 2nd GiG antagonist with the original movie's key plot scenes? It was just strange and unnecessary.

I don't at all mind the westernisation / white lead. Felt that controversy was nonsense. It's a Hollywood adaptation, why even bother remaking it if you're not going to have a new take on it or adapt it to be more familiar to local (American / English) audiences?

Same thing with the Netflix Death Note adapation. No idea if it will actually be any good but couldn't care less that they moved the location to the US and made the lead characters white. There are already multiple Japanese live action Death Note movies with Japanese leads. What's the point in another?

Mordhaus said:

I liked the movie adaptation. That said, if you have seen the various iterations of Ghost in the Shell, they don't seem tied to any common theme other than the basic one of whether or not a person's ghost (soul,id) can remain intact in a body that is heavily changed with cybernetics. The live action movie held that theme as well.
