Just watched Jimmy Carr's Netflix special - it contains all these same jokes, and every joke I can ever remember Jimmy Carr telling, so I guess it really is a "greatest hits" standup, rather than all new material like most stand-up specials. Yeah, this is indeed proof he is running a cult. The largest cult in history. All the evangelical churches, TBN, CBN, 700 Club, Jim Baker, Fox "News" all of them full in love with him, believing he is some sort of anointed one... All they care about is he is appointing anti-abortion judges (not pro-life, as none of these people who follow him are against the death penalty or war), judges that are against LGBTQIA+ rights, and rolling back those rights rapidly, he's moved the embassy to Jerusalem (a move that if Obama did, they'd just say it was proof he was the anti-christ), he's bashing the mainstream media, he's doing everything he can to appeal to the evangelical base, and they are more and more in love with him each day. And he does it, because they are 100% guaranteed to vote. He knows that the moderate and liberal Christians can't be counted on to vote, so the odds are ever in his favor. That's why the GOP won't stand up to him, they know where the votes are guaranteed to be at. They know they can't appeal to reason, to the moderate base, because the guaranteed voters are following him with a cult like fanaticism.

The danger is, those who love him are far more guaranteed to vote than those who have an apathy about him. It doesn't matter what his approval ratings are, those who disapprove aren't guaranteed votes. Those that love him are guaranteed to vote.

Right now, downstairs I hear Fox "News" reporting how CNN hasn't apologized or retracted some story, ignoring how Fox hasn't apologized or retracted most of their blatant lies.

When i saw Daily Show, Lewis Black and Measels all i was hoping it would "achieve" is making me laugh. At least that's why i watched it. In general, whenever a stand up comedian talks on a current event or divisive topic, I don't think of it as seriously attempting to educate folks. I however agree with what you're saying.

My experience differs.

If, in one's opinion, there are no good cops, how exactly does one stand up and support them? Those brave few cops that turn in crooked cops get insane support from the public, and death threats from other cops. What would you suggest? It's not a lack of public support for good cops that's an issue, it's a total lack of repercussions for the bad.
Edit: Also, there's the mindset that holding them to a high standard IS supporting the few good cops that meet those standards by not rewarding those who don't.

That all sounds good when you say it fast. How convenient for YOU to not stand up and help support good cops. As long you make all cops bad, all you have to do is sit around and let your contribution fester so you can announce "See! I told you so!"

Yes, good cops are in a tight spot. But they also need your (our) support. They need someone to believe in them. They need backup. You can help make them braver. Make them want to take a bullet for you because your bravery is worth it to them.

More and more bad cops are slowly exposing themselves for who they are. You can help expose the good ones if you just believe in them instead of just letting them fester in your fears. You can help them escape the trap they are in.

When YOU START to believe in good cops, you will find them. If nothing else, stop creating more bad cops. You're just destroying yourself.

As soon as I see cracks in the "blue wall" I might start to believe there are some good cops, but until they stand up they're not good. They're just supporting a broken system, no matter their intentions.

It might be a little hard for them to applaud a guy who told them multiple times that if they investigate his crimes he'll shut the government down. (I suppose those actions don't strike you as the behaviour of a guilty man.)

I do get to say what constitutes American values in my opinion, an opinion informed by civics class, something it seems most people were deprived of. Those values are honesty, fairness, and equality under the law.....honoring one's word/agreements, helping the needy, standing up for right not just maximum profit internationally. These are historically the values America held dear....but no longer, at least not officially.

Fox does not honor those values, it rarely gives them lip service and never more.

I watched Chris Wallace interview Conway just yesterday (for as long as I could stand it, which admittedly was only a few minutes), his questions were ok, but delivered with a slow underhand pitch and with no follow-up or contradiction of her ridiculous rambling factless replies. That's not good reporting, it's being the setup for spreading their agenda/propaganda.

There is no equivalence. Fox is (disgusting unAmerican) entertainment, not news. There is no right wing news outlet, they are all propaganda outlets and little more today.
The Ministry of Truth doesn't need fact, you will believe any nonsense they tell you to, even when it contradicts what they had you believe yesterday.
