Olbermann Offers $1000/sec For Hannity Waterboarding

Winstonfield_Pennypacker says...

The question he's asking is why are we suddenly shouting about it now? And why aren't we shouting about all forms of torture? Unfortunately, he goes on to hint that confinement and restraint is torture and therefore also should be a target of outrage, and this i completely disagree on. In that case, prisons would have to shut down.

Not exactly, but close. The question I asked (1st paragraph) is "What level of torture do you find acceptable?" A lot of people are squawking about waterboarding, but are pretty quiet about other stuff. Conveniently quiet...

Any act performed on an unwilling subject is torture. The question that has to be answered (which few people seem to want to tackle) is "what level of torture is OK to apply to unwilling, uncooperative detainees in order to obtain intelligence?" I'm assuming the pressure is being applied for intelligence gathering, and not just to be cruel for its own sake.

"Otherwise prisons would have to be shut down" is not a valid defense for torture according to those who strike a purist stance. So the question comes again, "What IS acceptable and WHY?"

Peter Schiff Schools Mainstream Econohacks on Great Depr.

Has any country anywhere, at any time, ever followed the Austrian school of econ? I look and look and look, and as far as I can tell, the answer is no.

Of course no government follows the Austrian School, nearly everyone in government follows Keynesian economics because Keynesian theory appeals to politicians' ego in that they can with a stroke of a pen make a natural part of the business cycle go away. (They can't make it go away BTW, they can only delay the inevitable. But at least they're trying right?)

Maybe Schiff and Ron Paul should move to Austria they love it so much.
Both Schiff and Paul have many valid points, but I'm sick to death of this "gold standard" "fiat" and "Austrian School of Econ" being the only thing they squawk about. And the crappy attitude they combine it with (I'm right, everyone else is wrong!) is just retarded. Guess what Dr.Paul; I don't think you're right whatsoever. I think you're wrong, so there!

Really? When you clicked on this video what did you think Peter was going to talk about?

Fucking broken records, and most probably the real reason they lost.

They lost because the Left can't deal with a president who is against the welfare state.
The Right couldn't deal with his anti-war views. A shame IMO because he would have been getting a lot of attention in this current crisis.

President Bush remarks on Obama victory

quantumushroom says...

too bad you weren't this skeptical and cynical about Bush's administration and his policies before he trashed our government, economy, environment and general standing in the world.

As a proud conservative, I consider myself more cynical and skeptical than you about government's ability to solve anything. I am equally skeptical of human nature.

My Bush disappointments are many: spending like a liberal, open borders fiasco, NCLB, taking no action against rampant fraud in both Iraq and Katrina cleanups, pushing the bailout without debate and towards the end, failing to stand up for himself or his party. Bush lacked core principles, and look what all his pandering to lefties got him: unbridled contempt.

Nevertheless, Bush got a hysterically bad rap from the main-piss-stream media, which has acted like deplorable, infantile squawking seagulls these past 8 years, criticizing the man even as he spent money like a liberal and expanded government. I'd say the lowest point for the bottom feeders was blaming Bush for Katrina while ignoring the fact New Orleans was run by corrupt taxocrats (and still is!) all the years those levees should've been fixed.

I find it hard to take you serious, it's as if you haven't been paying attention to what's happened in the last 8 years

Look what the rest of us had to deal with from the blame-America-first left. Worst Congress ever, controlled by taxocrats. Soaring gas prices and they do nothing. Non-stop negativism about Iraq, even as the good news increased exponentially. 9-11 conspiracy theories taken seriously. Lefties seem to have awfully selective hearing and vision when that irrational-beyond-measure Old Tyme Bush hatred kicks in.

But all this is going away. Soon it will be your fellow at bat. Some people have to learn things the hard way, and that time is here for you, Obama's True Believers. Grab a chair. The Jimmy Carter Remix w/ guest starring 60s radicals is about to begin!

US Navy shoots down Iranian passenger jet

kronosposeidon says...

I was in the Navy when that happened. At first they told us that that IFF transmitter squawked enemy F-14, so based on that information the crew had no choice but to fire. When that story no longer held water they abruptly quit talking about it altogether.

Not even a year later the USS Iowa had a turret explode. By then I had become fully aware of the lies the Navy brass were constantly spoon feeding us, so when they tried to make it sound like the explosion was the deliberate act of a suicidal gay lover, I immediately told my friends, family, and everyone else I knew that wasn't in the military to NOT believe a damn word of it. I had absoultely no inside information about what really happened, but I just knew you could never trust those motherfuckers in the Pentagon.

I was proud to serve my country, and still am to this day. However I am ashamed of how the men who told us to always act honorably and with integrity couldn't be bothered to do the same thing themselves.

Yeah, but what if I enjoy sticking frozen cornish hens up my butt, and when I invite the pastor over my parrot squawks, "Yeah, that frozen cornish hen feels good in my butt! BRAWK!" I just can't risk that.

alright, a parrot will out-live you.

Who says I'm not a bucketful of cheerfulness and giddy conniptions?
And cats die, which is not something I like to deal with.
[Edit] I'm often sarcastic, because it's the only thing that keeps me from becoming a mental case. So I was being a bit over-dramatic, but not too far off from my actual thoughts on life.

I hope that was plain satire.. if not cheer the hell up and get a cat or something.. gee wiz

Bush's Staged and Rehearsed "Unrehearsed" Chat With Troops

We have a glaring record of government corruption with Archduke Franz Ferdinand's,Lincoln's, Kennedy's , and King's, assassination, 9/11 was only 6 or so years ago, what the fuck good does it do??? All you can get is the voices of parrots squawking, "conspiracy!! AWWWWK!!, conspiracy!!" Fucking trapped in world of assholes and imbeciles.....

Look man, not trying to be a universal dick, but c'mon....if someone walked your neighborhood daily, spouting horse shit, you'd either kick their ass(reset), or make life miserable for them..but you would not continue for one person to make the place shitty for the entire hood-yet we sit back and continue to feed the one called government and media...the shit is in retrograde...breakdown, collapse mode, and the time for talking about it grows shorter and shorter-hell, we may last another 30-50 years at this rate, but the best of times are over-

havibng spewed that, I am having a great time in paradise-all the bad there is, is only here because her partner good is there-it is one and the same......fuck it-time for a mic-over trip on the good shit......

Sleeping Cat makes me giggle!

kronosposeidon says...

My sister was/is like a zookeeper. At one time she had two cats, a bunny, two ferrets, a dog, and a parakeet. What was funny is that she'd let the parakeet out and it would fly right down to the floor, right to where the cats were. And then that little bird would fuck with those cats. I mean it would be aggressive, hopping right up to them to squawk and nip at them. And those cats would always back down. It was hilarious to watch.

The moral of the story: Sometimes pussies are pussies.

The most annoying toy in the world

youdiejoe says...

ROFL! that was great! quick google search did find a dealer, but they are sadly sold out. Their description for this toy is as good as the toy:

The elegance of our golden shrieking chicken is surpassed only by its practicality. Simply give her a squeeze and you'll enjoy hours of old-fashioned, battery-free hen squawking. Gather the kids and play a game of Whose Ears Hurt First? or discuss the merits of annoying, repetitive sounds. Perfect during meditation, or at your next interdepartmental meeting. Skillfully molded from plastic. Measures 12" long.

US Navy shoots down Iranian passenger jet

Farhad2000 says...

Iran Air Flight 655 continuously squawked Mode III (Civilian Airliner) IFF in duration of flight however the crew on the new Aegis cruiser USS Vincennes identified flight 655 as squawking Mode II (Iranian F-14 Tomcat) IFF momentarily, personnel proceeded to label the target from "Unknown Assumed Enemy" to "F-14".

Investigations found that the crew bent the information into a scenario they have trained for, a single plane coming for an attack run, the captain also was known for his aggressive standoff.

The US government never expressed responsibility or liability for what happened. The men of the USS Vincennes were all awarded combat-action ribbons.

Iranian Police Enforces "Islamic Dress Code" on Women

BlueGeorgeWashington says...

THE MESSAGE IN THIS VIDEO IS HOW OPPRESSIVE AND FASCISTIC AN ISLAMIC SHARIA GOVERNMENT IS---not only to women but everyone who values Democratic Freedoms. Iran happens to be currently explicitly threatening unleashing unbridled violence via "bomb threats" on the world of Democratic values and any country trying to insitute such values as is the current situation in Iraq---which Iran is trying to de-stabilize in order to take over Iraq. I do not support the Islamic extremists in Saudi Arabia either or any other Muslim asshole fanatics. Thank Be To Goodness that they are not be-heading people in Afghanistan anymore. Those of you who think "Islamic Law" is "Just" should go and live in an Islamic country under "Sharia Law" and see how much freedom of "speech" or otherwise you would have.

I think Coupland and pho3n1x would definitly wind up "in the bus" and then jail in this so-called "most stable and secular Islamic state". TELL ME WHAT'S "SECULAR" ABOUT THIS "ISLAMIC" DRESS CODE ? Kudos to Garsh for his comments.

pho3n1x does not know what being oppressed is. The "this is not your country" comment suggests no one has the right to freely speak about the obviously oppressive policies of another country---and that IS stupid. Women beware of pho3n1x.

I could not stand the angry squawk of that oppressive and stupid Burka clad woman harassing women going about their daily business. Maybe that's the kind of "dress code" you like pho---let's put a burka on you and shut your mouth with Sharia Law.

I have close Iranian friends who know how bad the current situation is in Iran and are glad to be out of Iran.
