God Made A Dictator

newtboy says...

Uh oh….thanks to this major shift Biden might only get 91% of the black vote this time! 😂
Hate to tell you, but Trump is not picking up votes outside the party. He is not gaining traction with the “black voting block”, or young voters, or women, or the elderly, or educated, or professionals. He’s not picking up independents, and there are zero Bernie Bros ready to vote for him out of spite. He has angry uneducated single white men on lock, but no one else.
Yes, you can find a few Kanyes that think he’s their guy…at least 1/4 of all people are nuts and an huge percentage will lie for money or clout…and 100% of all MAGA.

Abortion rights will drive the polls, and that’s a total loser for you. Enjoy.

GWAR - Maggots - Live From Antarctica

visionep says...

Go!

[Verse 1]
Vile form of necros lies rotting your mind
Feasting like maggots, maggots in flesh
Soon it left your ruined cortex behind
Now the maggot knows glee as it nibbles on your spine

[Chorus]
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling like rain!
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling, falling like rain!

[Verse 2]
Reeking pus-pools vomit bubonic plague
Bowels of the beast stink of puke
How to describe such vileness on the page?
World Maggot waits for the end of the age!

[Chorus]
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling like rain!
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling, falling like rain!

Like rain!

[Bridge]
Beneath a sky of maggots I walked
Until those maggots began to drop, I
Gaped at god to receive my gift
Bathed in maggots 'til the planet shift

(Ohh...) The maggots are falling like rain
(Ohh...) The maggots are falling like rain

Now in the halls of the necro-lord
Flash of fear when he sees my sword, I
Rape his woman, smoke his bong
Leave a booger underneath his throne

(Ohh...) The maggots are falling like rain
(Ohh...) The maggots are falling like rain!

[Solo]
Just like rain, say!
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots! Maggots! Maggots!

[Chorus]
Ma-Ma-Ma-Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling like rain!
Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling like rain!
Maggots! Maggots! Maggots! Maggots!
Ma-Ma-Ma-Maggots! Maggots!
Maggots are falling, falling like rain!
Ahahaha...

We Completely Underestimate How Bad Things Are Going To Get

HugeJerk says...

At some point, probably sooner than we expect, there will be a shift in what the researchers are talking about... a swap from what we need to do to prevent climate change to what we need to do to save ourselves from the results. The response will be the same, arguments against doing anything because of the cost.

Ukraine losing 500 troops daily in Bakhmut fight

bobknight33 says...

Proven wrong again. This is getting too easy. Time and time again proven wrong. You and you side bitch @surfingyt
Not propaganda just facts.
You know when you seek not fake TV news and information you can actually learn. But that is too much for you. Stay in you narrow minded groove.

WAGNER CAPTURES BAKHMUT 20/05/23
Granted they could be pushed back.
This started 9 months ago and was a key hold for Ukraine and now , for the moment lost.
heck even cnn claims Bakhmut has fallen, except for a small unimportant piece. Also their narrative has shifted to that is Bakhmut is not an important territory.

newtboy said:

So sorry, I must have misunderstood you when you verbatim repeated Russian propaganda one week ago saying “ Bakhmut is 85% captured by Russia and they won’t stop” because I thought you were saying Bakhmut is 85% captured by Russia and they won’t stop, not “Russia says Bakhmut is 85% captured by Russia but in reality it’s closer to 50% and they’re about to retreat”.
What you said one week ago was not true one week ago, or ever. It was Russian propaganda.
I hope you understand my confusion.
🤦‍♂️ 😂

(Such a silly liar. Why are you embarrassed to admit you are rooting for Russia? It’s blatantly obvious.)

Ukraine losing 500 troops daily in Bakhmut fight

surfingyt says...

my only thought is they can only "save face" at this point and it would require a regime change along with a dramatic shift in policy towards the west and profuse apologies. doubt that will happen so im fully prepared to live out my remaining life watching ruzzia become a giant failed pariah state. the west will beat them into submission again.

newtboy said:

I wonder how it’s even possible for Russia to “win” even if they take 100% of Ukraine, which seems impossible itself. It looks far more likely they’re about to lose Crimea.

EMTs charged with murder

noims says...

I was going to start off saying that the whole concept of a private ambulance company - an essential service run for profit that so obviously benefits the wealthy over the poor - is so alien to me that it feels wrong to my core.

Then I read your comment and thought that the training really is at the heart of this. Were they sufficiently trained and managed to know that this could/would kill?

This is not a rhetorical question.

If they were paid little and/or forced to work long shifts so they're facing this while tired enough not to think/care, then I blame the company and, by association, the system. If they were well trained and had no genuine excuse (rather than reason) for their behaviour then I blame them.

The reality probably isn't as cut-and-dried as I present it above, but there's definitely a spectrum of blame to be considered.

newtboy said:

[...] Their training means they absolutely knew what they did would kill someone in his condition. No question. This wasn’t even depraved indifference, it was pure premeditated callous torturous murder.

The Deserved Downfall of CNN

newtboy says...

For once, Bob is right….CNN is losing viewers, now that it’s becoming another righty propaganda outlet under the new CEO Chris Licht to appease John Malone, a far right-leaning billionaire now on the board of Discovery who just purchased CNN, close friend of the Murdoch family, and key Warner Bros. Discovery board member who has made it well-known that he would like CNN to be more “centrist”—whatever that means, has taken a noticeable shift to the far right in recent months. Firing the most highly rated hosts, cancelling highly rated shows, simply because he didn’t like them personally and hated the fact checking of the right.
It’s reported that they only watch CNN through FOX news….so only the edited clips Fox shows with Fox commentary and editorializing.

Note, when Stelter was fired, Tucker Carlson and Daily Mail seemed to know about it a full day before even Stelter was told….because Malone couldn’t keep from bragging about it in celebration.

CNN is under attack from within by the destructive dishonest right, who is trying their utmost to kill it. Who in their right mind could believe they might attract righty viewers at the outlet they call “the Devil” “evil” “communist”..etc? No one. The changes were blatantly obviously intended to ruin and kill the network the right hates with a passion, not improve it.

Why American and European Trucks Are So Different

luxintenebris says...

as long as the driver has a large-mouth bottle, all american trucks have toilets.*

did read that there was a correlation between bladder cancer & truck drivers. was surmised, that holding your toilet had a part in the troubles. maybe, will have a definitive answer when amazon workers start having the same issues.

also many uti's.

read this reading up on school bathroom policies. a lot of uti's & colon-related problems - kids' tracts lose the ability to feel the urge & end up w/constipation and incontinent issues - in schools w/"hold it or lose recess" rules. (special place in hell, or the backyard, for those enforcers) - so the theory might hold water.

(a long drive for o̶n̶e̶ two puns.)

* "Most of us do carry pee bottles. But you have to stop to utilize them. I don't have enough hands to steer, shift, hold the bottle & direct Little Richard in the right direction all at the same time. Stopping to water the flowers is no longer an option, as it could lead to a sex criminal(sic) charge for indecent exposure."

Marine Biologist-Why Have Billions of Snow Crabs Disappeared

newtboy says...

I expect this is just the beginning.
Populations of marine animals will migrate to new areas less suited for them (or try and fail), causing disruptions in their new location, spurring more migrations….
When this happens, local fishing industries collapse because their prey is gone and new invasive species either aren’t edible or aren’t caught with the gear they have (like Lionfish, inedible to most fish and mammals, and all but impossible to catch except by spear fishing).
Between ocean acidification, deep water warming, overfishing, invasive species, pollution, loss of ice packs, and other as yet unknown factors, the ocean’s ability to produce food is going to be severely limited in the near future. It already is, in fact.
The crab collapse isn’t the canary in the coal mine, it’s not even the first miner to drop dead. It’s like 1/4 of the entire night shift just disappeared….and they are all the engineers that keep things functioning.

This is like a massive corn blight on land. It not only kills the corn, it takes out everything that relies on corn too, like pigs, chickens, cattle, goats, pretty much any livestock, and an insanely large percentage of the calories humans eat too. A shitload of the ocean relies on crab meat, and more rely on crabs to keep the ocean floors clean….important if we don’t want clouds of hydrogen sulfide erupting from the ocean making all coastal states dead zones.

The origins of oil falsely defined in 1892

cloudballoon says...

Well, well, well... base on this reasoning, the FIRST thing we should do is bring down is the stock price of Tesla, make it into a junk stock company for those endlessly promoting Musk here. Yessssss.......

Whether oil is finite or otherwise is kind of moot when we're talking about its impact on the economic & environment at large. With the advancement of renewable, clean energy techonology and ever cheaper cost of manufacturing & generation -- without even mentioning the political shift it would bring by reducing the power & authoritarian tendencies of the OPEC countires -- it's just plain Good Business to transition as fast as possible away from oil.

Dodge Viper Crashes During Street Race || ViralHog

BSR says...

Back in 2014 I worked for a company in Naples FL that is owned by Jack Roush. The job was mostly road testing new cars before they started hitting dealer lots. We would travel on specified routes for 8 hours. There was day and night shifts. I mostly drove nights. The routes were on Interstate and city roads. Every test vehicle had a Black Box.

We had three 2015 Vipers. The thing I liked the most with that car is that it felt like you were sitting in the hand of God. I cannot tell you how hard it was to keep to the speed limit. It was so hard that I got written up just for "touching" 100 mph for 2 seconds.

Jordan Klepper Takes On Canadian Truckers | The Daily Show

newtboy says...

I read it, nowhere did it give an estimate of what those protests cost, and it indicated there were multiple other routes for the oil to travel so didn’t even disrupt oil transportation completely, much less ALL commerce.
And it was about pipelines crossing their (or protected) land it seems, a far cry from the truckers. Yes, the validity and severity of your cause matters, just like the damage you do and to whom.

Billions worth of goods stuck temporarily…but no actual estimated cost for their delay, this cost billions in lost production and salaries that won’t be recovered.

That protest was targeted against the offending entity, not the populace. I have no issue with natives blockading their own land and preserves that feed those reservations against permanent destruction for some private profits. That’s a far cry from the truckers blockading the main border crossing for industry and tourism because they’re afraid to get a poke.

The numbers I saw were special. Hundreds of millions-billions lost (your billions in goods delayed doesn’t have a price tag). That was before the bridge was reopened. These protesters weren’t satisfied with that damage and continued to close your capitol with ever shifting demands. Since regular measures had failed, I support emergency measures, seizure, even forfeiture after trial, of any funds or tools used.

Perhaps they became only as localized (but certainly not as targeted, and localized in a city not the unpopulated country), but they had already done exponentially more damage and showed no sign of end or even demands.

Let’s ignore someone personally supporting a grass roots movement outside their country and control, please. I find it a red herring totally unconnected to how he governs.

Yes, some Floyd protests were more violent than the truckers, some weren’t, remember how they were all violently smashed, tear gassed, rubber bullets galore, run through with police trucks, unmarked vans pulling up and grabbing people crossing the streets, unmarked vans driving through towns full of police shooting tear gas at any moving body, etc? Don’t pretend the response is similar.
Also, the Floyd protests lasted a weekend in most cases (occupy Portland really wasn’t about Floyd) and went elsewhere the next march. They weren’t closing down one area for weeks intent on staying. Most lasted hours and were peaceful until police became violent, despite right wing media’s fear-mongering.

I think you’re stretching, putting on blinders, and doing insane mental gymnastics to pretend you believe that. From the actual damage caused, the idiotic reasoning behind it (quickly abandoned), the extremely uncanadianness of the self centered far right rally masquerading as protest, the international damage, the foreign involvement from planning to funding, these are unique “protests” in numerous ways.

Their idiotic beliefs are only one of many distinctions I’ve pointed out, and as I mentioned only color public opinion and the amount of patience they’re given by the public, not how the government treats them. It’s not at all honest for you to pretend that’s the entirety of my position…it’s very Bob of you, and has lost some of my respect.

Pipelines crossing sovereign territory or preserves = bad so blockading those areas to force pipeline movement = good….oil companies didn’t truck the oil out, they increased shipments from other areas by rail. Read the article you linked.

Native cultures and governments are different. Pretending an elected board for a reservation works for the people is naive in the extreme. Read about politics on reservations, who funds the people that get elected in most cases, what happens to opposing candidates…saying the board signed off while so many showed up to fight against it seems a bit at odds, no? Like maybe the board members were bribed, had ties with the oil industry, or other conflicts….just maybe?

And again, those protests didn’t cost a fraction what the truckers did from my research. Delaying delivery of a billion in goods isn’t the same as costing a billion in losses. Neither is delaying or cancelling a billion dollar project. Be adult please….don’t make such specious arguments ….please. They don’t slip by, and they make me think you are being disingenuous.

Australia's Honest Government Ad | COP26 Climate Summit

newtboy says...

I think the worst part of these summits is their stated goals.
Paris intended to keep warming to 1.5 degrees by 2050 (no real plan beyond then)…but you might recall, 1.5 degrees of warming is considered the tipping point where feedback loops and natural processes outpace human inputs, meaning even if we hit zero emissions by 2050, and if everyone kept to their Paris agreement promises, and if other nations don’t continue to ramp up emissions, and if unforeseen feedback loops aren’t stronger or faster acting than predicted, we still lose control completely by 2050. That’s the best plan we have, runaway climate shifts in <30 years AT BEST….and no one seems to be living up to even that planned disaster of a plan. Emissions aren’t being cut, they’re increasing. Feedback loops are ramping up 40 years earlier than predicted. All the while, people are complaining that gas is over $3 (I haven’t seen it under $4 in decades where I live) and insisting we adopt some heavily polluting power generation instead of investing in green energy solutions. People assume, it seems, that some last minute fix will solve climate change, ignoring the fact that emissions from today are reactive in the atmosphere for between 25 and 150 years, so we needed to be at net zero 25 years ago to even start effecting the atmosphere today…and some emissions from the industrial revolution are still effecting us now. Net zero by 2050 (a pipe dream, and the best plan so far) is planning to fail completely…like turning off the blast furnace in your house when the thermometer hits 450.5 inside and thinking you can stop it from burning down.
If Covid taught us anything, it’s that there is 0% chance humans will be able to cooperate enough to tackle climate change. People were asked to simply wear a mask and distance a bit to save their lives, and enough refused to do it that the methods that worked beautifully elsewhere failed miserably to control a virus. If we can’t pull off such a simple, blatantly obvious plan against a virus, what chance is there of cooperation across the board to sacrifice enormous amounts of money and completely revamp our wasteful way of life in uncountable ways to stop something seen as a future problem by many? IMO, there so little chance of pulling it off that it’s statistically correct to say there’s absolutely no chance at all.
