I've been friends with a lot of law enforcement types and basically all that I have known personally have their heads on straight like this guy seems to. They take the whole "protect and serve" thing seriously.

But, it seems like the larger a place gets the more opportunity there is to divert things into this profit-based direction. Not to say that small towns would be immune, but the likelihood is lower. I feel sorry for this guy losing his job, but I think if he was willing to move and put out some resumes to small towns, being very upfront about being fired and what he believes caused it, he could land on his feet someplace where his attitude would be appreciated instead of disapproved of. Sometimes it sucks when the answer is "don't like it, move", but I think that might be his best bet.

If Zimmerman has "100% legal rights to have shot Martin" then the state wouldn't be wasting their time prosecuting him.

I think Zimmerman will be found guilty. Zimmerman's defense waved the right to a pre-trial "stand your ground" hearing. If he won the pre-trial hearing, it would have granted him immunity to any further criminal or civil trials. Waving the right to that hearing could mean that they didn't think he stood a chance of wining, so they're taking their chances on a jury trial.

I find it funny that you tell others to "learn the fucking law if you speak about it!" when you don't seem to know the law yourself. Here is the law for your reading pleasure. Notice there are several exceptions which I'll highlight:

776.013 Home protection; use of deadly force; presumption of fear of death or great bodily harm.—
(2) The presumption set forth in subsection (1) does not apply if:
(c) The person who uses defensive force is engaged in an unlawful activity or is using the dwelling, residence, or occupied vehicle to further an unlawful activity; or

776.041 Use of force by aggressor.—The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who:
(2) Initially provokes the use of force against himself or herself, unless:
(a) Such force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or
(b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use of force.

I'm starting a new in a bar this week. I'm not worried about the bartending part, but i'm more concerned about the menu. Its four times larger than anything I worked with, I don't know asian cuisine. I agree with ramsay, my resume doesn't mean squat if I can't produce. (luckily i'm nothing thinking a fox television show will be my winning lottery ticker).

I've haven't had enough experience with it to give an informed opinion. I've seen people practice it, but never with an opponent. That doesn't mean it doesn't work though. As I said, I don't really want to give an opinion on something I have only a passing familiarity with.

To expand on what I said earlier, I have no idea if this woman has any legitimate martial arts background or not. Her website lists "extreme martial arts" which makes me dubious, and "qualified martial arts instructor" but it doesn't say in what style, or whose accreditation she's qualified with.

It's quite possible she could kick seven shades of shit out of me, but I wouldn't call what is demonstrated in this video martial arts.

She's still pretty awesome though. I would kill for that kind of flexibility and co-ordination, but I'm old now.
