His Slide Technique Could Use Some Work
A perfect example of the resonant frequency of a typical toddler, or the harmonics of the slide. We salute you for your brave contributions to science lil guy.
Swinging Lampposts
resonance!
Uh, something is going to snap off one of those lights at some point if this continues, right?
The world's first levitating bluetooth speaker
Well it doesn't have to account for floor resonance that regular speakers need to deal with. But as far as sound quality goes, that is one the least important factors anyway.. Not negligible but far far behind the actual motion of the cone which still is by far the weakest link in the audio chain, far behind amps or wires. It turns out that moving a paper/plastic cone back and forth 4000 times per second is still hard thing to do precisely without tremendous inefficiency (amount of energy and cooling)...
so the levitation is just a gimmick...it adds nothing to the sound quality itself, correct?
The Middle East problem "explained"
The video starts with showing stacks of papers and implying that understanding the root of the issue is unnecessary and will take a long time to digest. This is a messaging that resonates with the Conservative mindset. The same technique was used to bash Obamacare, "the bill is too long to read" http://nation.foxnews.com/obamacare/2012/02/29/obamacare-regulations-two-and-half-times-long-bible
If you care to learn the real history of the conflict, I suggest this clip: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wb6IiSUxpgw
“Weird Al” Yankovic - Handy (Parody of "Fancy")
maybe that's why this parody doesn't resonate as much.
The original is already a parody of itself.
I can't believe you guys don't know this song! It has possibly the best first line ever:
"First things first, I'm the realest."
Says the Australian white girl who's made a career out of rapping in an uber-exaggerated dirty south accent.
Dude does an impressive girls voice
This sort of thing is just a function of knowing what components of vocal tone you can manipulate, how to manipulate them, and engaging in careful, recorded practice until you can routinely reproduce the correct mix. Some vocal strengthening also has to occur over time, much like a singer gradually extending his or her range. The average female voice is only an octave higher in pitch than the average male voice, i.e. a pitch which with practice can easily be reached and maintained by nearly all men. The bigger problem is that men's voices are far more resonant, i.e. rumbly and full, than women's voices. What a man would need to do to reproduce a "girl voice" would be to raise his pitch, and then partially pinch his upper throat and palate, while simultaneously keeping a relaxed throat through which breath can easily flow. If you just pinch the throat without raising pitch, you sound like a nasally drag queen. If you raise the pitch and overly pinch the throat, then you get an artificially thin voice. Merely raising the pitch would just sound like a guy whose voice didn't deepen terribly.
Finally, all of the above would just produce female tone. Much of what we identify as "female" about a voice, isn't tone, but cadence, word choice, and inflection.
Doom - Did You Know Gaming?
I just never got into Doom or Quake or any of the really early. The whole hell theme just never resonated with me.
I think System Shock was my first FPS, then later Half Life
Street musician with unbelievable instrument, PANArt Hang!
Cool! It has a kind of fantasy-Arabic sound.
I'd love to see this in person, and love a full explanation of the instrument. It looks like a steel drum with a resonance chamber from descriptions.

Nice find...wish I could *promote and/or *quality
Pro Pianist sits down at a Public Piano
Note: in order to clear up some confusion expressed in the comments with regard to the sound on this clip, the stereo audio recording was made independently of the camera (which has poor sound) and later synched in post production. The 'percussion' sound that can be heard is not a hi-hat or a snare drum, it is possibly audio peaking, (unlikely), or something resonating inside the piano - most likely a broken string. The recorder was placed very close to the back of the instrument near the floor, and was therefore closer to the noise made by loose stuff rattling around inside. I only heard this on playback when I got home - didn't appear on the camera soundtrack.
THIS SITE IS A JOKE (Comedy Talk Post)
So, a little birdie told me my comments resonated a bit. I just wanted to followup on that.
Above all; life hasn't given anyone turdinade in the context of this site. It's given us a really well maintained site with a well-meaning community, so don't take my criticism to be pooh-poohing what I visit every day and am really thankful for.
Secondly, my only real criticism was that the 'sift leaned heavily in the direction of the 'cool-kids club', in that you had to prove yourself to be acknowledged as a viable member.
There is nothing wrong with that in and of itself.
If I were to suggest *anything* be changed it's from a an entirely , selfish, subjective and personal perspective, and the only thing that has ever come to mind is this: If someone's been around for years, participates in some form regularly, and isn't a complete asshole, maybe they should get additional member benefits.
Otherwise it just seems the site could be more balanced for its own features and functions. I supposedly have 38 Power Points saved up, but I've no idea what I can do with them, and siftbot knocks my hand aside every time I try to do even the most seemingly innocent thing.
Also, this opinion has also been formed in complete ignorance of the rules or steps necessary to gain more privileges on the site. My initial negative feelings toward the gated privileges caused me to never care enough to look up what I might have to do in order to grow more.
At any rate this turns the whole topic into an Artician-pity-party (cause: 'wah! I don't sift videos and partake in the predetermined path to membership, and I'm butt-hurt I don't have more status/authority/control over the basic features of the website!") and ultimately, that's the only place my gripe was coming from.
I've known others to feel similarly in the past, though never spoken to anyone at length about it, and I can imagine that the rules as they are have turned away many people over the years who otherwise might have stuck around if they didn't have to fight an uphill battle to get rid of that horrid, red 'P' next to their names.

Also, reminds me of this stuff which has already been sifted (YouTube has a whole channel of Animusic):

Don't worry about it. I just resonate with the topic is all.
Also i apologize for killing it after you took the time to comment. Douchie of me and i'm sorry for that. Id be happy to promote it if you want to sift it.
Bill Nye the Science Guy Dispels Poverty Myths
@bcglorf @Fairbs
I used to hold the same view on military intervention. If only it were applied impartially by a nation or alliance, then any would be genocidal leader would be deterred by threat of imprisonment or death.
However we all know that in reality this is stymied by the lack of altruistic intentions, the political dimensions of risking soldiers' lives in foreign wars and the unintended consequences of even fully altruistic intervention.
I can't really argue against there being a case for intervention in Rwanda or after Saddam gassed the Kurds.
A sufficiently large force by the US/NATO would have probably deterred the Hutu militias in Rwanda from waging their genocide. Had the international community demanded Kurdish sovereignty from Iraq following the gas attacks, Saddam would have probably accepted it coming off the Iran-Iraq war for fear of being attacked by Iran while he waged a civil war.
In either case I can also play devil's advocate. Would the inevitable Tutsi government set up by intervening forces in Rwanda have been seen as legitimate by its people? Would reconciliation really have been effective if it was effectively imposed by outside powers? Would civil war have reignited? Even with how things turned out in the absence, we know that Kagame's government is increasingly authoritarian and has supported militias like M23 in Congo against the remnants of Hutu militias which has itself been a source of much death and violence. In the case of the Kurds, what if calls for cession resonated in the Kurdish population in Syria and Iran and the opposition turned violent in those countries?
In most cases, while hypothetical intervention may appear the clear moral ground I just can't be certain the outcome would have been better. In the case of Rwanda, probably, a large portion of the 500,000 lives lost would have been spared. In the case of the Iraqi Kurds, no intervention would have pre-empted the initial gas attack, however inciting the situation could have resulted in more people dying in violent struggle and resistance.
Golden Retriever Imitating Siren
Interesting, I wonder if the dog actually hears the resonance it's imitating... Sometimes with interference or even very loud sounds I seem to recall hearing that kind of cancellation wave effect.
Hey! The Tea Party has its own anthem now!

Just saw Evita on stage this weekend, so this probably resonated a bit more because of the tune.
