The Rollable OLED TV is expected to release this year
There's been something like this for years, except it rolls down from the ceiling.... it's called a projector.
HD LED Headlights technology: Mercedes-Benz DIGITAL LIGHT
Cute, but I've seen what they believe the real world application will be. Imagine having high beams on, and no one is blinded because the projector creates a black spot where the person's face is, or at least the windshield area. Everything else is lit up bright.
What is a Dichroic Cube?
neat video.
small nitpick though - this is how 3LCD projectors work. DLP is a completely different principle.
VERSUS — Football fans VS destiny
Why not 80" or a projector for even bigger?
And this is why I need a 65" flat-screen.
ZTE Axon M has 2 screens
I liked the idea Mozilla had ages ago for integrating a pico projector into the phone

Homebuilt 200W LASER BAZOOKA!
While it uses enough power to run a microwave, there are no microwave parts. The main diode arrays are from home movie projectors.
Ignorant question of the day - Is it likely one could expose themselves to radiation poisoning or get cancer from these activities? I ask, because the radiation generated by these devices is actually ionizing; but that's about the extent of my knowledge on the subject.
Disney Are Being Douchebags To Quentin
Douchebaggery of the highest order.
Tarantino is doing something really cool by bringing back the idea of the cinematic roadshow AND by making a film that is, by design, best seen with a 70mm projector (which only a few theaters in the country possess). Why does Disney care about ONE movie theater when they've got a worldwide release--especially as Star Wars is actually going to open in that theater anyway and be shown there for the first week, when the biggest returns will happen).
Seriously, I can't understand why Disney would do this, unless Tarantino royally pissed off some Disney executive who is now getting their revenge.
EDIT:
Was reading more about this on Reddit and learned that this likely happened because Disney is aggressively going to try to break the all-time box office record and therefore wants "all hands on deck" and the movie playing in as many theaters as possible.
Also, there are reports coming out that this was not a recent change but one that Disney forced through months ago, the evidence for this being that the Arclight theater in question was listed as available for the online pre-ordering of tickets for The Force Awakens over the holidays way back in October. However, it seems Tarantino was only informed of the change recently.
Star Trek Beyond - Trailer 1
Wow! Really?!? No 2 D theaters at all?!? That's nuts. Where are you located, if I may ask?
I also have trouble with the new 3D, but I intend to give SW a chance. I hope I don't have to see it a second time in 2D to actually see it. I live in N Cal., and we barely have 3D theaters here, but plenty of smaller 2D screens.
If only they would make a good quality, 4K, 3D projector at a reasonable price, I would just stay home. People in theaters suck. It's like their parents never taught them that a theater is not their living room. That's why I only see an average of 1 movie a year in theaters. I would see far more if it weren't for the other movie goers.
Have fun! I will pass on the new SW movie. There is actually no effin 2D cinema left in my region and my brain and/or glasses/weak eyes are incompatible with this horrible 3D bullshit.
The Mechanics of the Film Projector
Yes, that's right. The 16mm projector shown here has mono sound and a single audio track. The 35mm cinema films had two tracks for stereo or dolby encoded surround sound.
Jimbo's big bag'o'trivia has a quite good overview here - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sound-on-film
See also http://entertainment.howstuffworks.com/movie-sound.htm for lots more detail.
I'm curious how multi-channel audio is achieved, as a single waveform would only generate mono sound.
