How Does Kodak Make Film? (Kodak Factory Tour)

StukaFox says...

I used to use Kodak TP-2415 for astrophotrography, and it's the most insanely fincky film I've ever used, with one exception: Fuji made FF slide film for the same purpose that were ISO 10,000. The stuff was so reactive to ANY heat that it came delivered on dry ice and you had to slam the slide into the back of the camera as absolutely fast as you could. The darkroom processing on those slides was best done by someone who dealt with nothing but Fuji -- and not just Velvia.

If you've only shot 400 - 800 35mm, MF and FF is a world you cannot imagine.

Excellent video!

Have had much experience with Kodak films. B/W film of which I had much time in the darkroom processing the film and then making prints. I also had the chance to work with an Award winning Press Photographer.

One question I had for him was, how does he process his film to get such clear, sharp negatives? My prints would sometimes look grainy or flat. His answer was just 5 words that made me feel like an idiot.

"I just follow the instructions" he said without being insulting.

He told me that Kodak spends millions of dollars to come up with the processing instructions so, "why should I do anything different?"

That's when it hit me. I'm processing film, not mixing drinks.

Biblically Accurate Angels

Hey it's White, so you shouldn't be feared. Just like W. Bush looked into Putin's eyes and saw his pure, pure caucasian soul and tell us he shouldn't be feared, right? Right?

Dark joke aside, any Christians who'd take all the mythical/fantastical aspects of the Bible in a literal sense are pretty brain-head and gullible to begin with. Better to figure out the symbolic or allegorical meaning of those verses.

Centuries/millenniums ago people - from the West to the East - would claim they saw dragons but instead were just seeing tornadoes instead. They couldn't process what they saw with the science we now know so they wrote those fantastical stuff in the Bible. It's their "truth" not ours.

Just like the far right is living a different kind of fantastical, wholly imagined fear-mongered "reality," or like many people in Russia honestly brainwashed into believing Putin is currently liberating Ukraine.

Angels approaching humans almost always say "fear not". There has to be a reason for that.

Anonymous message to Vladimir Putin

Hero hackers claim to have breached Belarusian weapons firm

The international hacker collective Anonymous appears to have made good on its declaration of cyberwar against Russia and its allies, apparently exposing 200GB of emails from Belarusian weapons manufacturer Tetraedr.

Anonymous breached the firm’s defenses and released the most recent 1,000 emails from inboxes belonging to Tetraedr employees, passing them over in .EML format to the information transparency platform DDoSecrets. It also made public a complete archive of each inbox in .PST format, though the hackers noted that some files may have been corrupted by the export process.

Tetraedr is a private company founded in 2001 that specializes in making advanced radio-electronic weapons systems. It is based in Belarus, which has provided Vladimir Putin with logistical support in his invasion of Ukraine. Its dictatorial leader, Alexandr Lukashenko, has long been regarded as a puppet of Putin.

“Greetings, citizens of the world,” announced Anonymous in a statement on DDoSecrets, a non-profit whistleblower site set up in 2018. “We are the PWN-Bar Hack Team, we stand for equal opportunity pwnage and unrestricted access to information.”

Keep your “I can see absolutely no racism besides reverse racism” dishonest idiocy to yourself.

Almost every killing was Boogaloo boys committing racially motivated false flag operations, but the morons are so stupid they carried their manifesto with them when committing terrorist acts, outing the false flag operation the first time one got caught. Morons.

Well over half the burning and looting was found to be non BLM related,(and many if not most that were attributed to BLM were abandoned buildings). The true terrorists of 2020 were Trump’s Proud and boogaloo boys caught repeatedly causing mayhem to blame on BLM, shooting into crowds, starting fires, planting bombs, breaking into stores, shooting cops, etc. You know this well, you bold faced liar. You pretend you don’t know it because then you think you can get away with being a racist tool and blaming black people for everything, IMO, but we all know you know it.

Many were caught, prosecuted, and convicted (those they didn’t shoot to death in the process of being bomb planting cop shooting fake BLM terrorists that is) and the damage done was 1/10 what the idiot truckers cost.
The people with those truckers are many of the same people….with the same mindset.

Blacks protesting being shot=Thugs.
Whites protesting getting a shot=Freedom fighters.

Not everything is racist, but right wing terrorists waiving confederate and Nazi flags are. White supremacists who commit false flag terrorism to try to blame on black people and their anti-racist-murder-at-police-hands protests are racists.
The people standing with and behind them are racists….tell me the company you keep and I will tell you what you are.-S.P.
People who intentionally hide those facts and knowingly lie to blame the known racist false flag operations on BLM are racists….looking directly at you.

You support the side of racist white supremacists, racist nazis, and racist policy EVERY SINGLE TIME….but suddenly get the vapors and declare your innocence whenever it’s pointed out.

Edit: And let’s not lose sight of the issues, BLM protested blacks being murdered by police regularly with no recourse at all, absolutely none. Truckers are protesting not getting the privilege of getting to choose to travel internationally without the minor inconvenience of being vaccinated against a raging pandemic. I know, you think the latter far more important than the former, thereby excusing that the truckers have cost more, done more damage to local businesses and home owners, and, by being super spreaders, have killed more people.

Hipaa stops medical professionals who have your private health information already from sharing it without your consent (except in specific situations).

Why is that so hard? I think this kind of explanatory video does more harm than good by taking a ten second explanation and making it into a >15 minute video.

Watch The Tesla Plaid Go 0-160 MPH

For new cars, probably correct, but old combustion engines aren’t just going to dissolve away. I have two over 50 years old in my driveway. They can last a long time.
Also, India and China don’t seem very interested in skipping their turn at combustion engines (sad), so tack 50+- years on before the entire world even really wants to switch over.

I don’t deny average electric vehicles should soon outperform average normal gas engines (let’s ignore exotics as exotics). My point is switching technology across the board is a slow, painful, expensive process that won’t likely happen in 5, 10, or even 20 years IMO….and electric motors won’t ever totally replace combustion for all applications as some suggest.

Americans Tell NBC, “Blown Away” By Bidenflation,

newtboy says...

Downvote at dishonest “bidenflation”. This is Trumpflation if we must be infants.

Economists will tell you how inflation happens. Creating 1/3 of every dollar in existence to pay for things we can’t afford (2020) is the simplest way. Lowering GDP is also a factor (-2.2% 2020)
At least under Biden, wages are increasing too. Didn’t happen under the last president, not so much. Inflation from a glut of new money (but no added value) takes time. It will continue no matter what steps are taken until the spending we did on fake “credit” gets paid.

Another debt Trump left, not Biden policies driving inflation.
I defy you, @bobknight33, name 3 Biden policies that are driving inflation. Name one. I’ve named the Trump policy economists say caused it….printing new money to pay for programs without funding. Look it up.

As for meat prices, remember that little thing called Covid? Remember how the last administration insisted Covid was a mild flu, and meat processing plants closed because of massive outbreaks? That, and subsequent labor shortages have increased prices, not Biden adding taxes.
Comparing mid pandemic unnaturally low (shutdown means cheap fuel, even free oil) fuel prices to artificially inflated (refineries refused calls to ramp production back up) prices of today is a red herring, a paper tiger. Two factors there caused the increase, neither caused by Biden.

Total false narrative, or in bob speak, FAKENEWS!

So, Trump has now publicly promised to pardon the murderous cop killing seditionists if he’s re-elected.

It makes me wonder, do they even know that they admit guilt by accepting a pardon, and that unlikely to be president Trump can’t pardon them from most of the consequences of admitting to being a seditionist traitor…only the prison time? Anyone pardoned will have a nice red “T” tattooed on their foreheads for life. (The scarlet letter for traitors)

Accepting a pardon is an admission of guilt, offering a pardon is an admission of recognition of their guilt. Their lives are going to be seriously impacted by admitting to being treasonous seditionists, relegated to pure Trumpist events, businesses, and employment because most companies don’t serve or employ known traitors….only the Trump loving ones do.

BTW….Trump just also admitted publicly to pushing Pence to CHANGE the election results, claims he had the power to overturn verified and certified election results, and complaining that unfortunately, Pence didn’t “overturn the election” and call it for the loser. This is Trump admitting he lost (you don’t change the results when you won), and whining that they should have been allowed to steal the office anyway.

I guess according to Trumpsters, Biden already won 2024 because Harris can hand all votes to him no matter what the states say, then to whatever democrat comes after him in 28, even herself.

Forget 2024, in fact forget all elections…you KNOW the process is rigged and now Biden is president, might as well not vote, since he rigged the last one so masterfully from the outside that no evidence of tampering exists….how well do you think he’ll do now that he controls the election? Zero votes for Republicans? Better stay home in protest, your vote won’t count anyway. Even if he loses, Harris will hand him the win, totally above board and legally. That’s what Trump wants you to believe….so believe it.
This is you guy? This is you pick?
🤦‍♂️

Oh yeah, and Biden’s first year in office was the fastest growth of the economy in 40 years! D’oh!

How one NASA image tells dozens of stories

spawnflagger says...

interesting video, but many of his same examples were in this 2012 NASA video: https://youtu.be/Q3YYwIsMHzw

Also, not to detract it's usefulness (and cool factor), but many people seeing this photo think that's how the Earth actually looks at night - it isn't. That composite uses satellite data from Suomi NPP's VIIRS sensor, which can detect much dimmer light than the human eye, and part of the compositing process was to normalize brightness of individual pixels (so dim lights get brighter, and bright lights don't washout adjacent pixels). More details here:
https://www.nasa.gov/mission_pages/NPP/news/earth-at-night.html

Even some cool night-time videos from ISS (example: https://youtu.be/FG0fTKAqZ5g ) are made using still photos with long exposure time (1+ seconds) See FAQ.

This did lead me to a live webcam from ISS that I didn't know existed: https://eol.jsc.nasa.gov/ESRS/HDEV/

Pipe Lining - the step-by-step process - Part II

mxxcon says...

So much work and hassle...Wouldn't it be cheaper and faster just to get a new set of replacement pipes? They had to dig it out, cut it out, line it, then put it back in, etc etc. Seems like just replacing with new pipes would be a better process.

Your party is admitting treason again.
Peter Navarro Had to brag on Bannon’s show that there was a plan, with 100 Republican legislators on board, to obstruct and delay the vote count (a treasonous felony) long enough that terroristic Republican pressure would convince Pence to invalidate multiple states’ electors, send them home, and request that the Republican led legislatures in those cherry picked states discard the vote and hand all electoral votes to Trump despite his losing the election in those states.
That’s treason…subversion of the electoral process, something they’ve been denying for over a year now, but can’t help but brag about in interviews.
At least 3 coup attempts that failed now, and likely many more hidden in Trump’s communications around Jan 6….that’s why he’s so terrified they’ll become public.

Do convicted traitors lose their secret service detail? How about convicted felons in prison? Hope so. I can’t wait to hear Trump hung himself while under suicide watch….happens all the time, right? Happened to his best friend and pedophile partner, prepubescent pussy poking Epstein.

Let's talk about altering the Supreme Court....

newtboy says...

Meaningless fiction.
In the post Trump era, it’s more likely that aliens will land and offer free telepathic abortions on demand than it is Democrats and Republicans will agree on anything enough for a 2/3 majority. When one party’s entire platform is “obstruct the other party”, constitutional evolution is dead.

Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness….that makes abortion a right on all 3 counts, since pregnancy can threaten life, denies liberty, and who could be happy forced to be a life support system for another? Also, the logical extension of that obligation means healthy people forced to donate kidneys, transfuse their blood, repeatedly donate partial livers, etc. …anything that other person needs to live should be the obligation of anyone who can supply it. Same as forced pregnancy. That makes it a constitutional issue, the denial of life, liberty, and property without due process, conviction, or even a crime is addressed in the constitution, and applies here.

dogboy49 said:

To me, the current crop of justices seem to be less willing to deviate from the Constitution as written. Should abortion be allowed? IMO, yes. BUT, are laws banning abortion unconstitutional? According to the Constitution as written and amended, probably not. Roe v Wade was written by a court that believed that abortion and the "right to privacy" should carry the weight of constitutional law, even though the Constitution is silent on these "rights".

My suggestion: If abortion should be considered to be a "right", then so amend the Constitution. Otherwise, it will be subject to the vagaries of "interpretation" forever.
