Dog Pack Feeding With Patience.

Woman Viciously Assaults Police Officer

coolhund says...

Oh, Ive interacted with cops a lot. They were German cops, but if any they would actually be more calm and more humane than American or Canadian. But I never noticed that. Sure, as cowboydan said, there are very nice ones, but they are rare.
All the other I know are arrogant assholes who even tend to have a slight tendency to sadism. They are almost always on a power trip, and if you for some reason dont act submissive (especially if youre younger than them), they will let you know that you have just crossed the line. They know very well their powers and that youre all but a wussy citizen, who can be arrested for bullshit, if they just want to.

People wonder why some cops are slightly hostile to them?

I don't think they do. It's because they carry guns, act like assholes and order people around. There are good cops, undoubtedly who take more of a subtle approach and are really looking to help out in their community, but all the terrible ones overshadow that, and there are far to many of them.

"The most absurd apology for authority and law is that they serve to diminish crime. Aside from the fact that the State is itself the greatest criminal, breaking every written and natural law, stealing in the form of taxes, killing in the form of war and capital punishment, it has come to an absolute standstill in coping with crime. It has failed utterly to destroy or even minimize the horrible scourge of its own creation." - Emma Goldman

Really, I'd LOVE to know your interactions with police. I've probably had more interaction with cops then anybody on the sift EVER will, and what you just described to me is complete and utter bullshit that you seem to be stringing together from bad youtube videos.

Yeah so she was annoying and he was pissed about it. But hes a fucking cop and needs at least that kind of sliver of patience to deal with people like that without acting like a fucking prick who likes to treat democracy like shit (like his superior).
He could have simply said in a nice tone to stop it. But he started with arrogant power-trip phrases.
Maybe he just wanted to show his female colleague how "real men" handle situations like that...

How to Deal with the Police (part 1 of 4)

csnel3 says...

I don't have any answers on a better way to deal with cops. I was just commenting on what I felt as I watched this video.I know its best just do as you are told by the police. I also know that doesnt always make it right. I have had some bad dealings with the police, never any major trouble, but enough to know that they can be liars and power tripping dickheads who know they can getaway with almost anything. I think its sad that we all know that cops are bad news, and are instructed to learn how to deal with it.
"we know that if you run, cops will shoot you" is a good example, running is now a capitol offense that requires deadly force? Running is a bad idea, curling up in the fetal posistion and pissing youself is the safest action when the police approach. (and No, i dont really reccomend it). >> ^longde:
Except we know that if you run, the cops will shoot you.
I see the disconnect here. Let me explain. The people in this video trust the cops and the legal system much less than you. Their objective is to leave any police encounter alive, with limbs intact, and without some arbitrary felony thrown at them.
So, they're not hoping for the best, they are trying to prevent the worst.
For all your cynicism, I haven't heard any better ways from you to deal with cops. What advice would you give these people.>> ^csnel3:
I think we all watched the same video. I admit I question things more than normal.
This rang of a video that the authorities would like to play for all the children everyday at the beginning of school. They tell you you have rights, this is comforting, then they tell you the proper way to be arrested and or released, depending on what the police decide to do with you. Wrong or right, just follow these steps and the police will have an easier time with you, and maybe you will recieve some kind of repreve, or not.
I know that the police will lie to us, and do whatever they want, regardless of our rights. I also know they will lie to each other, the court system, and the media, to be able to do and say anything they want. For the most part, once they are in control of you, it doesnt matter what you say about your rights. The video even states that the cops hate people who say they have rights and be prepared for the shitstorm if you go down that road. It's better to shut-up and obey.
I always try to be polite and cooperate, even though I really dislike and distrust the police.
Sometimes I just feel, Rights or not, Run!! Serpintine!Serpintine!Serpintine! dont look back.go go go.
Or just do as this vid says and hope for the best.

How to annoy the police and get the biggest possible ticket

MilkmanDan says...

Um... I'm confused. It looks like they were intentionally trying to get pulled over by this guy so they could record it. If that is the case, they didn't have a very cunning plan considering the "expired proof of insurance ticket".

So the case they would make against the officer goes as follows:

A) He reached in and tried to grab the phone. I'll agree that this action was wrong and he clearly shouldn't have done it. However, there was no harm done to the phone or the owner, so as mistakes go I can think of much worse things that he could have done. Worth the officer getting a warning over, but that can be the end of it.

B) He told them to turn off the recording. He has no legal right to require them to do so, and when asked to clarify or justify that he didn't back it up and basically gave up on it. I'm sure they feel vindicated in catching him "abusing his power" and "not having a leg to stand on", but I'd say more important is that he did in fact back down from it. Again a mistake, but I find it hard to be extremely critical. Let the officer learn from it and move on.

C) He was on a "power trip", and "wasting tax dollars". ...Right. Perhaps if one believes that "following to close behind a vehicle" or "driving with expired proof of insurance" should not be ticket-worthy offenses.

I fully agree that as people in a position of some power, police should be held to very high standards of conduct. This, however, didn't really trigger my "abuse of power" alarm.

Police Slap & Taser 10 yr old at Day Care Center

BoneRemake says...

I believe anyone who thinks tazing a 10 year old girl or boy is be it a cop or the first poster, should be tazed till they bed for mercy, thats just a really stupid acceptance to have. Non the less I think one of the issues of this story is that two or more grow adult officers could not subdue a 10 year old. Pick the fucker up by the arm or leg if ya have to , Police are a bump of pansies now it seems, all power tripping and no thinking. taze first ask question later.

Sea Shepherd Ship Plays Laser-Tag With Japanese Whalers

TheFreak says...

I'm guessing the affect has been zero. This is not about saving whales. It's a big power trip for Captain Fatass and a thrill ride for his cabal of hippies.

I'm not taking sides on the whole 'whaling' issue. I can see both perspectives on this. I do believe that if you're serious about stopping whaling you're not going to waste your time acting out pirate fantasies in the antarctic.

BTW, isn't that a multi-million dollar boat? What could possibly be the advantage of that thing over a semi-rigid speedboat? Apparently being on the Discovery channel is allowing these guys to fully realize all their teenage fantasys.

TSA Screeners Miss 75% of Bombs and Explosives

I'm all for security and safety, but it bugs me how some of these guys just go off the wall sometimes with their power trips.

But this just shows that you can never protect us from everything...so strip away security and all you have left is a power trip.

In all honesty, though, I'd really wish these tests weren't broadcast. The simple fact that they're there could be a deterrent for some would be terrorists. Well maybe. I guess if you're that hardcore you wouldn't give a shit. And MAYBE if America stops acting like a bunch of baby-punching assholes, we wouldn't have to beef up security.

Quantumushroom.... [s][e][c][r][e][t][s] (Lies Talk Post)

EDD says...

>> ^davidraine:
Whoa now. I'm not a fan of most of what qm says either but trying to dig out and expose personal information is out-of-bounds. Even though I feel he or she posts wild accusations without checking facts first (I've downvoted qm's comments for it more than once), he or she is still not directly going after other posters (to my knowledge). It also runs afoul of guideline 36.3 -- If disrespecting anonymity and cross-posting to unrelated videos isn't harassment I'm not sure what is.

>> ^NetRunner:
I think hunting down personal information about someone and posting it is out of bounds, no matter how irritable or misguided they are.

That's pretty hypocritical, coming from the VS community. We've had several instances with video of police brutality/power tripping where someone posted real personal details - full name, address, HOME phone numbers, email addresses etc. and I have never seen anybody objecting in any of those instances - the respective comments got handfuls of upvotes instead. And that was WAY, WAY beyond what vairetube did here, which was merely speculation about gender and approximate whereabouts and age ("Wow, people know I'm a 20-something male living in a city of several million - boy, I'm in trouble, they can find me so easily now!!!").

Also, it's the fucking internets, guys. Any personal info I put out there, especially as public profile info I realize CAN and MIGHT become public knowledge at any given time and nobody should harbor any illusions about that. Besides, it's not like a simple damn Google search for a username really constitutes "digging up personal info". Duh.

Personally, I think vairetube shouldn't have removed the 'info' on quantumushroom (which was probably false anyway, just like the rest of his/her usual array of 'facts') and that nobody should have discarded this even if it is a little pointless making a sift talk about it.

*edit
davidraine and NetRunner: please don't get me wrong - I am NOT saying you're hypocrites. I don't know what your reaction to the couple of cases I mentioned was. I only meant to say that the community has obviously reacted somewhat differently in a similar situation because the 'victim' is a member of the Sift.

Arrested For Asking A Policeman For His Badge Number

ShakaUVM says...

Huh, weird, a group dedicated to exposing police brutality just happens to be victims of police brutality. And it's all on film!

Excuse me if I don't believe that this wasn't a setup on the part of FIT.

I have personal experience dealing with abusive power tripping cops, but this seems to be like they were provoking the cops until they got arrested so they could make this videoclip. Douches.

Awful. It's everywhere. Police everywhere are on a power trip. Sad.

I'm not entirely convinced that this sort of behaviour is on the rise, so much as awareness of it has. The ubiquity of cameras and Internet access is helping expose more criminal activity that was not as visible or recordable before.

OUTRAGEOUS!
I really am scared of that state... even more so than my own state of FL.

The thing is, our system doesn't perfectly protect us from being inconvenienced by douche bags. We might find ourselves occasionally having to take orders from a power tripping cop. The great thing is that we have a court system that does a very good job of sorting this stuff out later.

I was arrested before (wrongly so) but I went to court and discussed the situation with the D.A. and she dropped all charges. It was a horrible experience, but I'm grateful that our system has checks built in.
