Fox News Destroys Fox News Uranium One Conspiracy

newtboy says...

So you didn't listen at all.
We didn't sell ANY uranium, we essentially sold stock in the company that mines it.
He just told you what went down, try listening.
Nefarious? Explain. Again, listen, she was barely involved in this normal transaction....but if doing business with Russia (in your official capacity, with full transparency, and in concert with multiple other agencies) is nefarious, Trump and his cabinet's multiple secret unauthorized and undisclosed back alley deals must be insanely worse, right?.

Above reproach, no one is. Is their charity head and shoulders above Trump's repeatedly sanctioned charity he uses like a personal bank account to buy himself portraits and fake Time covers? Absolutely. But that's a total misdirection red herring. Stay on target.

Selling 20% of our Uranium is a bad thing. We should not be selling any at all.

Is it worth investigating from a possible criminal POV? No but it is worth looking into it and seeing what went down. Sure.

Do I think something nefarious has happened. Seems like it.

Do you think the Clinton's are people above reproach? Do you think their foundation used solely as a foundation to help others and not themselves?

Why Should You Read James Joyce's "Ulysses"

LukinStone says...

I took a Joyce Major Authors class in college (about 15 yrs ago). We read Dubliners and Portrait in their entirety, and probably about 40% of Ulysses and excerpts from Finnegan's Wake.

For some literature, you really need to do homework to appreciate fully. You'll miss a ton if you don't know history and current events that people were generally aware of at the time. And, even when you do that work, sometimes you still won't get it all - which is how I see Finnegan's Wake.

My experience reading (some) Ulysses was great, but it depended on the professor who would assign a chapter for homework and then spend the entire class going through it with us. We were Lit majors, so we knew The Odyssey, but some references were completely over our heads. Like, Bloom is humming advertising jingles throughout the book - and these weave together with other literature references, sometimes making a joke about popular culture, sometimes taking a swipe at literature/history. I got maybe 10% of the significance during my initial, solo reading.

My mid-term paper was a super close reading of one small section (I think it is in chapter 4) where Bloom is in the tub, contemplating how his dick and balls look like a lily pad as they are floating in front of him in the tub.

Baby Driver -- Opening Scene (Amazing car chase)

Except that lead actor. Nobody was home.

I kept imagining what a young Johnny Depp or Ryan Gosling could have done to inject some soul into surface portrait.

I'm an acting nerd. What can I say.

And yeah. I felt like applauding at the end of this sequence when I saw it in the theatre. Edgar Wright. Yeah.

I have been sort of half looking forward to viewing his portraits. He has done a hell of a lot of them by now and i believe the last i read about his book, it's all wounded soldiers from his wars(?) So it's like a penance. Meh, he's going to make a killing off his picture book sales. See? I look at both sides, not just awww da ol pwesident we wuv to waugh at. He's a cocksucker but he's an artist and promoting the arts. All art is propaganda.

I just ran across this picture yesterday, the Trump family portrait:

Ha, isn't that great! I don't know what Slovenian sentiment in general is towards American taste, but let me assure that their family photo is tacky even by American standards. Just thought you might want to share this with your countrymen, as I'm sure Melania is a great source of pride to you all.

edit: Yes, that is a real picture, not photoshopped:

It's more natural to hold a phone in portrait (vertical) than in landscape (horizontal). Typically landscape requires 2 hands -- and if filming landscape with one hand, it becomes easy to lose grip.

I know it ruins the cinematic quality, but he didn't film the dude for our entertainment, he filmed it as proof.

It's also a logistical issue, as it is easier to grip a phone vertically than horizontally. This is the reason why there are so many videos filmed in this mode. Especially in situations where people are unable to use both of their hands to stabilize the video, such as running, when in danger, or at the top of a bridge...

Also, his subject is a human which stands upright, so filming vertical allows him to distribute his subject matter across the entire canvas; whereas landscape would cut off the primary focus and distribute the background on either side of the subject, which is unimportant to the situation, in place of filming the man from head to toe in a single frame.

Yeah, I don't know if most source material will be better here than on the iPad. Wake me when you have a 4k OLED with HDR.

That said, the ending, they show the tablet in portrait mode rather than landscape. After all he said...

It's perfectly fine when I watch it on my phone! Even on my tablet it's fine. Or on my vertical flipping monitor.

I've said this before and I'll say it again, that some footage is better filmed in potrait view, or as you call it "vert". BUT, I will agree that this wasn't improved by the choice of holding the mobile device.

I'll tell you in private which subject matter REQUIRES portrait view for adequate coverage of the subject. Coverage lol.
