I am happy to discuss this poem at any length. This collaborative work is a symphony of wordplay and meaning, operating on several levels at once. Ultimately, I just want to know what you think.

That's great stuff. I was thinking of doing some transcription/translation, but couldn't do the wordplay justice.

I think the presentation is universal enough that the intention comes across regardless of locality; unfortunately this is also true of the subject matter.

Looking around on Irish forums, I see a fair few accusations of click-bait, heavy handedness, and reliance on tropes. From what I can tell, though, the accusations are mostly from people far removed from the situation by class and gender, as so often happens, and is pretty much directly referenced in the poem.

REALLY?!? People crowd fund POEMS?!? And awful poems about ignoring her gullibility and lack of self protection that paint any helpful person as an evil attacker? Huh?


OK, it's true that SOME people wishing to hurt you try to trick you by saying they want to help you somehow, but to say that anyone trying to help protect you is really trying to harm you is just paranoid to the extreme.

Most people who ask if you need/want help are simply trying to help.
If someone INSISTS on giving you 'help' that you didn't ask for or don't obviously need....beware.
If you're walking down the freeway with a can of gas and someone stops to offer a ride, that doesn't mean they're trying to kidnap you.

I agree that you didn't intend to use the click-bait title.

There was no shocking being done at all. The old guy was not shocked in any way. From the sounds of the poem, the dad wasn't even a meat farmer as he's clearly not a meat eater. Most likely a dairy farmer? It was merely an old guy voicing a cool poem. (which was well done, by the way.) ---

See how the title sensationalizes the video and causes invite to watch a video that clearly doesn't describe the video at all?

The meter (metre) of this poem had a Dr. Seuss vibe. I wonder if it was done by Lev on purpose, subconsciously, or if it's just me. TIL: anapestic tetrameter.

Well that is okay, I just watched it four times and tried to compare it to watching the other video I watched this morning of cows being put down " humanly " but it was pretty well the same thing and they both made me dislike it. Although a poem could probably be written about it, the four in the pen who had no choice and the one human who did and decided on that fate.... man. lifes a bitch.

I also enjoyed her clearly having picked up little bits of native accents so each word sounded like she was from somewhere else.
