A good, even *quality idea....for 40+ years ago.

It took 100+ years to mortally wound the ocean by 1000 cuts. A bandaid on one wound is not going to turn it around, and we almost certainly aren't going to do it anyway. Countries that don't buy into the plan will simply harvest most of the fish left by those who do. This only works in small scale preserves that are guarded against poaching, often by a military.

Fish stocks are disappearing at an alarming rate, many going extinct. For those species, it's too late, and they are numerous, and they are largely the fish humans prefer. Many others are in such decline fishing for them is already off limits or severely curtailed, like commercial salmon, abalone, and crab fishing in California. Even those actions have failed to revive their populations year after year.

Diatoms, phytoplankton, and other similar biotas are at the limit of acidity and temperature they can tolerate, and they are the base of the ocean food web, feeding most fish when they are fry or larvae. The gasses in the atmosphere today will push diatoms over that precipice with a massive ocean extinction following soon afterwards, and we continue to add more greenhouse gases than we added yesterday every day.

Then there's habitat loss, coral reefs and kelp forests are both being decimated by temperature rise and acidification. Together they are food and habitat for 25%-50% of all ocean fish and shellfish.

Less over harvesting of the ocean is a good idea, but pretending it alone can save the oceans is pure fantasy. The ocean has absorbed as much as 90+% of the excess heat from global warming, causing oceanic heat waves that destroy habitats both directly and indirectly. There is NO plan that solves that problem, it's well beyond our capabilities under the best conditions with worldwide maximum efforts.

Just sayin'.

Public school should not start this year until the teachers are paid reasonably, and classrooms funded. None of them. Just don't show up teachers, they can't fire all of you....they can't afford to fire any of you.

When China is poaching our teachers and paying them fully 3 times what they make in America, we failed.

The problem with this is not so much the child's testimony. The problem is that the girl was molested, physically confirmed by the hospital, and there was evidence that the police official burned her clothing/diaper after the fact. If the offender had not been a former high ranking official, but instead just a regular person, then the circumstantial evidence would be sufficient to continue the case.

The judge did order the defendant to stand trial for a much lesser charge of lewd molestation. Clearly this was a case where the buddy system came into effect. Corruption exists even now in the legal system, but I had hoped that it had changed in the years since I had an issue with it.

When I was just turned 17, many years ago, I was dumb enough to help a friend retrieve a deer he had illegally shot. He was not strong enough to pick it up into his truck. I wasn't a hunter, so I didn't take into account that he might have broken the law. In any case, we were both arrested after he tried to flee the scene in the truck and outrun the game warden. When we went to trial, I was shocked to learn that I was being charged with the poaching of the deer and fleeing the police, both misdemeanors with high fines, and my friend was only charged with crossing the center line and speeding (in his flight attempt). My PD told me to take a plea and get reduced fines, so I did. My friend got even less in the way of fines and only traffic violations on his record. After the fact, when I got him alone and beat the crap out of him, he told me that his dad was a coffee buddy of the precinct judge and that was why he skated on the charges.

It is these types of situations that make it necessary for courts to be monitored by another method then just appellate courts, especially since most cases that appear before the higher courts are denied out of hand the majority of the time to avoid setting precedents.

Total bullcrap, this is one of the reason sharks are being poached increasingly. Just as we started to come down on those numbers, idiots like you give the poachers a new reason. If this was attempt at sarcasm, know that there is a sarcasm button for it. Dumbass...

PS: Art cannot discriminate or objectify anyone. People do that. Someone runs over someone with a car, is it the cars fault? Someone gets stabbed, do you ban knives? Someone publishes a sexual fantasy, should we ban all books? Feminists embrace marxism for this reason.

I grew up watching all manner of pornography. Larry Flint is one of my personal heroes. Yet I never once tried to use a woman like some kind of fleshlight.
