I also had that problem for a couple of days, and noticed logging in again fixed it for me. Like what thegrimsleeper said.

I'm having issues with videos I'm sifting playing all on their own while checking to make sure they haven't already been sifted, and right after sifting.

And I don't think I typed sift enough...sift sift sift sift.

FF12 was my favorite though, and I've played all but a few

I finished 13 I even played for a long while after the main quest just to go giant turtle killing. The one thing that really annoyed me with it was redhead australian girl's running animation.

Lesbians Want to Kill Babies to level the playing field-WTF?

visionep says...

"I don't want to play all of this psychological stuff, but..."
A statement like this just makes me think your are going to start telling lies.

Lets see now, what are the facts involved:
1. Lesbians 'can' have babies.
2. Allowing other women to choose 'not' have babies doesn't somehow make it so they can't have babies.

There is abstract thinking involved in this task. Realize that the chimpanzee or human must know the order of the numerals (arbitrary symbols).

If you want to test yourself, you can do so at Lumosity.com. It requires a free sign up, and you'll get to play all the brain games for free for about a week. Then they want to charge you.

Wow - and I thought I typed long posts. I tip my helm, sir.
I enjoy WoW for various reasons. It has the solo experience down to a T and you can find enjoyable ways to spend your time doing PVP, or dailies, or solo questing, or PUG dungeons (shudder), or crafting, of achievements, or other stuff. If you're in a fun guild then you can do dungeons & raids for fun as well. It isn't just the 'lewts' and numbers. Yahtzee has it wrong there. Any raider worth his salt will tell you without blinking it is the fun of raiding with friends, and solving what are (essentially) multi-player puzzles.
And you don't have to be 'addicted' to do it. I putz around in WoW for maybe an hour or two in the late evenings on 2 or 3 nights a week after the kids are down & the wife is doing other stuff. I was easily able to get to level 85 in a couple weeks that way (plus a day or two of multi-hour gaming over the holiday). My guild raids one night a week, for a 2-hour stint. Easily doable while leaving plenty of time for myraids of other interests. Moderation. It's all about moderation.

I knew that'd be a long post, but I was trying to include ALL (or almost all) the issues I've had with MMO's and WoW in specific. I felt giving a "summarily summarized" post would be nothing more than noise -- as I've seen my fair share of on "x" MMO forum.

The only reason I posted anything of that length is that I hate to be misunderstood. If there's one thing I've learned on the Internet is that: while being succinct is nice and prudent were it can be used (without compromising your premise and argument), it's a horrific thing to do when you're trying to make useful observations and criticisms. Also, when giving solutions for the target of the criticism. For programmers (and I've been there) the more someone tries to "succinctly critique" a request/argument for you, the less helpful it is, for you. Though my statement may have been superfluous, I did want to cover all my issues with the approach of designers to current MMO design.

Some people read it (as I would assume you read did) and voted it up, so I'd say some appreciate a thorough approach. It's easy to write a lot about this subject for the mere reason that I've played so many others MMOs other than WoW. Each one adds one or two more things to the mix, but there has yet to be a revolution in the mechanics. I, of which, believe that this is something long past due.

The short fact is that I'm someone with programming experience and a slightly higher amount of design experience; that has also played just about every game ever made. Definitely, I've played all the game types. I would just like one MMO to get-it-right!

I also allowed this to be a bit longer to make sure my response didn't sound rude.

But, raids need HEAVY work still. They are VERY much not for an average player -- once again killing MAIN content for 90% of the playerbase. Blizzard needs to take note that every MMO that has gone to a Free2Play model is now back in business, even though they were dying (due to WoW and saturation). Some have seen a quadrupling in profits, not to even mention what happened number wise to the playerbase.

There are two arguments that blankfist is making here. One rational, one irrational.

The rational argument: This particular situation demonstrates an abuse of government power and it sucks.
The irrational argument: ALL GOVERNMENT, EVER, IN THE HISTORY OF WORLD IS EVIL.

Don't let his attempt at smearing the line between the two trick you into justifying something that appears to be a legitimate abuse of power. You may agree with the rational argument and disagree with the irrational broadbrush at the same time.

This a game that the corporate think tanks play all the time. It's also a fallacy of logic. It's an inductive fallacy, to be specific. Here's how it works: An agent of the government did something bad, hence all government is bad.

Another example: A libertarian crashed his plane into a government building, purposely murdering an innocent man; another libertarian blew up an Oklahoma government building purposely murdering 168 innocent people; another libertarian sent mail bombs to innocent people, murdering 3 innocent people. Therefore, all libertarians are sadistic, murderous sociopaths.

I don't agree with this last sentence, it is here to make a point.

Ugh, this is such a biased and skewed argument. I'm trying to wrap my head around this but it seems the left out a few major details (if she later agreed to the body pat-down or not) and instead tried to add some badly-timed humor.
She has every right to refuse being body-scanned, but last I heard, flying isn't an inherent right but a privilege!

Well said! This is what I thought but could not convey through words. I'm glad I'm not the only person who thinks this way.

Zero Punctuation: Halo: Reach

Truckchase says...

Preface: I haven't played Reach. That said, I'm going to be the old fogie in the room again and identify with this review in that I don't get the Halo love. I played all but reach and thought they're nothing more than what PC FPS games have been doing for years. Perhaps this one is different, but they've exhausted my old guy patience so I guess I'll never really know. If it introduces the younger folks to how cool multiplayer FPS stuff can be though, so be it.

Angry Video Game Nerd - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles NES

JiggaJonson says...

Pizza shit!

In all seriousness though, I remember very vividly playing the arcade game of TMNT that looked like this:

Then after getting this NES piece of shit for Christmas and ending up getting frustrated as hell trying to make it past that water level. Then finally getting past the water level with a sliver of hp only to find myself in some kind of sick maze of terribleness. THEN when I finally got "TMNT 2:The Arcade Game" I thought "FINALLY the game I'd wanted to play all along!!!" only to end up with this:

Granted that was much closer to the arcade than the first installment, but "The Arcade Game" tacked onto the title let my childhood imagination run wild with the thoughts of the potential for the NES. Perhaps it was true! The original game developers had just never heard of or seen the arcade game because they were Chinese sweat shop programmers, I reasoned. These new programmers surely would stay true to the original gameplay/graphics. Instead of a carbon copy of the game though, I ended up with something that by comparison looked like it should be played on a Gameboy. Alas, another let down.

Still though, the purchase of TMNT2 The Arcade Game was a letdown that would have been an easier blow to handle if it had not been for the piece of shit game that was the original.

Nirvana - Smells Like Teen Spirit (Reggae Version)

geo321 says...

Yeah it was manipulated. Apparently the guy with the youtube account where this vid came from specializes in that. I think he plays all the instruments individually in his studio then syncs then with a video. >> ^MilkmanDan:

I liked it. But wasn't the vocal track sampled straight off of the album version and then digitally time compressed to match the altered tempo? It had that slightly shrill sound that comes from time compression plus digital compensation for pitch.
So I guess I'm curious about how it was created.

Seattle officer punches girl in face during jaywalking stop

asynchronice says...

Best post so far.

>> ^MaxWilder:

No damn reason? She tried to get away! Does that mean nothing to you?
You think complying with instructions from an officer of the law is the same as kissing their ass? You have a fucked up world view.
If an officer tells you to stop, you stop.
If an officer asks you a question, you reply with as much information you feel appropriate.
If an officer tells you to give identification, you politely ask what you are being charged with.
If an officer tells you what you are being charged with, you give identification.
If at any point you try to walk away, you are an idiot. If at any point you are rude or belligerent, you are an idiot.
This is not kissing ass. This is being respectful of the role in society that the officer plays. All you have to do is be polite. If that is difficult for you, that is your problem, not the officer's.
An officer is not under any kind of obligation, legally or morally, to show you more respect than you show him. Like I said before, if you comply with an officer's instructions and then you get beat, that is an entirely different story and I would be fully supportive of getting that officer fired and/or imprisoned. But that is not. what. happened. here. This is a video of two women who were disrespectful, unruly, tried to flee the scene, and laid hands on an officer while he was trying to do his job.
