Mother pursues selfish goal to kill herself in a year

hpqp jokingly says...

Yeah, because homosexuality is a "lifestyle choice" akin to self-destructive behaviour such as alcohol abuse, smoking and overeating, and the mind-poison that is religious superstition.

>> ^cito:

Glad she's happy. Everyone loves to demonize people's lifestyle.
She chose to be fat.
some people chose to kill themselves smoking
smoking is still allowed in home around kids also.
some people love alcohol and drink at home
some people choose different lifestyles, some like same sex some dont
some like religion some don't

but none of it matters, whatever she choses as long as she's happy, more power to her and I support her.

just shows how hypocritical people are with political correctness, if someone demonizes one lifestyle the political correct crowd will flame and insult the person as they try to force them to believe one way and insert the wrong word -phobia to end of words.
but if a person chooses to be fat oh no call the cops that's insane.
god people are retarded, and political correctness needs a bullet in the head.

She's happy with her lifestyle and I am happy she enjoys it.

You're happy that she's happy? That makes me unhappy. I agree that everyone has the right to chose what the want to do, but fuck, go do it where no one has to stare at you, or do it when you have no kids to worry about.
It's disgusting watching someone do that to their body.

This has little to do with political correctness, it has more to do with common sense. She is the definition of American waste and gluttony. While smoking, Drinking and drug use are all similar to this, shes not chemically addicted to anything, shes just nuts. I mean, aren't people who are forced to watch this happen allowed to have an opinion? Just as much as she has the right to do it?

Didn't you just argue that profiling people because of the way they act or dress is OK? I profile her as a fat loser using your logic (from your sift page):

"god i hate political correct people

there is nothing wrong with profiling

profiling is the outcome of proven statistics. Course the p.c. crowd will claim the statistics are wrong that certain types do certain crimes, but it's been proven time and time again. mostly lower income.

I've done my share of profiling when I was a manager at a truck stop, some trashy teens came in we put alert to keep eyes open and more than half the time we'd bust one for slipping candy or goods in their pockets.

like comedian Ron White says, "profiling works""

Dare we criticize Islam… (Religion Talk Post)

hpqp says...

@SDGundamX

I will admit right away, I'm trying very hard right now to suppress a rage-response. I'm all about civil debate, but I hate repeating myself. So instead of doing so for the nth time, may I suggest you reread our discussion under the Harris video, then reread my Sifttalk post again, and then reread what you just wrote.

Please pay attention to the following points:
- what you accuse Harris and myself of arguing
- what Harris and I are actually arguing
- what you argue in the above comment, and the evidence you give
- the arguments you used to refute the evidence I gave you

Does a certain tendency show? I'll give you a hint: the word starts with "h", and ends with "y".

You disagree with Harris' assertion that Islam is the religion causing the most harm in the world. Please tell me which one you think it is then.

on Islamophobia (did you even read the distinction between is/believes?):

Islam: the religious (ideology) faith of Muslims, based on the words and religious system founded by the prophet Muhammad and taught by the Qur'an, the basic principle of which is absolute submission to a unique and personal god, Allah.

phobia: a persistent, irrational fear of a specific object, activity, or situation that leads to a compelling desire to avoid it.

After reading the citations of the Qur'an that I sent you, and after seeing the effect of putting those doctrines to action (e.g. Sharia), can you honestly tell me that fearing the spread of such an ideology is irrational? You talk about "particular interpretations", dancing around the fact that there is only one Qur'an, written in a pretty clear language. Why should we, as critics, beat around the bush at symptoms instead of attacking the core ideology?

As for Islamophobia as "prejudice against, hatred, or fear" against muslims themselves (it should be called Muslimphobia), yes, it does exist, although the term is hardly ever used in that sense. The examples you give are not brilliant either (but you should be able to see that for yourself, right?). If you're suggesting that the kind of criticism of Islam that Harris makes could encourage such Muslimphobia, than you are even more mislead than I imagined.

(also, what makes you think I'm a guy? just curious)

Finally got a downvote for this comment. Before the sensitive busybodies on here go on a rampage, I'd like to point out the fear channel description:

i just dont understand why so many people care what gay people are doing? who gives a fuck? dont we all have other things to worry about? why do these people spend so much time concerned about who someone else loves?

In my opinion this is exactly where the line from, as some have put it 'preference' to more of a phobia.

Because he fears that acceptance of homosexuals and their life style will lead to the corruption of his and other heterosexual children. To me this is absolutely an irrational fear. No matter how polite he tries to be about it, this is exactly what homophobia is.

A lot of people tend to translate phobia to hatred, that's not the case. Because it's against people, some people tend to get extra up in arms, but I think some times that is an overreaction. People can be scared of gays, like some people are scared of heights. It happens, but that doesn't necessarily make them haters of all things gay.

Yes but usually fear of other human beings translates easily into hatred. Now you can't really hate the ledge that makes you be up really high where you're not comfortable. You can certainly hate the people you fear though...Fear leads to anger, anger leads to hate, hate leads to suffering. Yoda knows all.

There's also a level of degrees between dislike and hate; some people would rather that races were segregated, and that you only had to deal with people just like yourself, while others seem to want to make the whole world into people just like themselves. I think, we have to be careful not to group them all together (which is one of the things that they tend to do).

People have a right to their opinions, even if we don't like them. Hopefully the election results will reflect when the popular opinion is different to that of the politician.

Too many politicians say one thing and think something different, like for instance most "Family matters" republicans. I would rather hear all the gay-bashers, racists, socialists, libertarians, blankfists, and all other fringe groups speak out before the elections rather than after.

You've forgotten the meaning of phobia, which is an irrational fear.
Look at something like actively oppressive sexism. If you're fundamentally and morally opposed to sexism, you don't want it endorsed by your government and you don't want it taught in your schools (and it is in some parts of the world!). However, would you say you have a phobia of actively oppressive sexist people? Probably not.
