It's other things from the left that I fear are needlessly driving away right leaning folks.

Calls for halting parts of the economy to save the world from catastrophic climate change, be that banning coal or oil or to a lesser extent carbon taxes. Instead taking the positive approach of promoting non-fossil fuels on the power grid and electric vehicles accomplishes more and doesn't directly attack the industry and livelihood of a large part of middle America.

Anything that amounts to calling it immoral to define a man as a human with a penis and a woman as a human with a vagina. How many voters do you really need to alienate over semantics?

Anything that amounts to demanding everybody accept and encourage your life choices, sexual or otherwise. The notion of judging one another based on our decisions and behaviours is a big deal to right leaning people, telling them that certain behaviours or choices are not only unquestionable but must be approved of is again pointless and needlessly drives away voters. There is common ground in love and let live, pushing beyond that to get back at the old guard is driving away potential allies at a time that can't be afforded.

Labelling any criticism of Islam as Islamaphobia. For that matter, use of pretty much all the morality-a-phobias should be done away with. Go back to demanding people live and let live without the requirement everyone embrace or endorse other people's decisions without being shouted down as immoral.

Refusing to allow rational discussion of statistically factual trends or differences between populations because it's racist or sexist. Those differences are a part of our reality and just demanding everyone put their heads in the sand drives many people unwilling to do so away. It also is damaging because many problems in society that we need to fix are informed by that data.

It seems pretty obvious to me the people taking the most abuse in and having the most anxiety on the subject are going to be anyone transgendered.

I am however a bit reluctant to rule out the concern that might be held by the female half of the population of using public bathrooms alongside males. I know, most of the proposals are all based on simply allowing transgender people who identify as female to use female restrooms. I don't however think it's fair to straight out reject concerns from females that male predators, or more probably 'mere' perverts, can pretty easily 'fake it' and walk right in.

The argument of just get over yourself or you phobias also cuts both ways. Anyone insisting this is a world altering vital battleground over freedom and privacy is maybe taking things too far.

In the guys (very slim) defense, he looked surprised to see the dogs, they appear to be great danes, and he could have a crippling fear of dogs. I don't even mean a phobia; I used to be so afraid of dogs when I was younger that my legs would freeze up and feel like jelly.

It is in some ways far more terrifying to have these type of individuals around and even the REMOTE possibility that they will implement any of their "solutions", rather than the threat ISIS poses to us.

For example, the one individual who thought it was getting to the point (which is absolutely mind-blowing since this person has a better chance of knowing a victim of one of the many gun-massacre assholes, rather than any ISIS encounter) were we needed to re-use the VERY badly implemented and all-around bad idea internment of Japanese U.S. Citizens during WWII. ISIS could commit to ONE crime and the amount of absolute hysteria on our news cycle and amongst our own people will probably make sure we see to it that an NEW federal organization is created to protect whatever they target; if they target a Hostess factory, we'll have a federal agency in one year to protect our precious and vital Twinkies from the harm that may come to them...

This is the craziness John is speaking of. I have NO idea what to do to make Americans dial it down to five rather than eleven for every negative event to happen, including the way they think they need to react to said event.

Hopefully, we have leaders that can react to these events in a much more balanced approach (like, well, Obama).

Wow! I've had something just like that happen to me in public speaking class while giving a speech. It was like my brain and mouth shut down at the same time, repeatedly. I always put it down to severe nerves, public speaking being a phobia of mine (that's a big part of why I took the class), but perhaps there was more going on than anyone realized.
I'm glad she got help.

That's got to be one of my biggest fears. Falling into shit like that you can't even see. I fell into a quicksand type crevasse up to my waist while fishing from a sandbar several years ago and it's been a phobia ever since.

It's funny. The idea of things living in me used to be an enormous phobia of mine and this kind of video would have freaked me fuck out (a la newtboy above), but for some reason now I just giggle at videos like these (below). No idea why, but I'd like what she's having. (And by "she" I mean me.)

What about glossophobia (fear of public speaking), or triskaidekaphobia (fear of the number 13)? Those seem less likely to be explained by genetic evolutionary reinforcement / social anthropology. And they appear on many lists of the "most common phobias".

If she is, and she doesn't dump him for such an inglorious display of pansyhood, he should marry her immediately because she must really appreciate whatever his other qualities are. Wailing and falling to pieces over a minor problem such as this doesn't bode well for the future.
