A Definitely True Message From George Santos

newtboy says...

Hold on there nutjob….

I 100% agree the ball was completely dropped by Dems who should have made an issue of this in Oct, knowing the right wouldn’t because they say facts and honesty are only for liberals. Had they discovered this immoral scam directly from the RNC before the election, Dems would have kept the house.

But it’s not the job of the opposition to discover the lies their opponent tells, nor their fault for not uncovering lies told by candidates and backed by their party. It’s the person who lies and those that knowingly corroborate their lies that are to blame, they are in the wrong, not the Democrats. You would blame the victim for not discovering the unbelievable crime beforehand, and accept no blame as the willing accomplice. Do you blame home invasion victims for not having security doors and bullet proof windows, armed security, and panic rooms? Oh wait….you actually do (Pelosi)

It took more than a scratch of the surface because Republican representatives and RNC officials totally knowingly supported and corroborated the lies with big grins, never saying a word despite knowing he was completely full of shit and not caring one bit they were lying to their constituents because honesty is not a righty feature, they didn’t just lie to the left, they did this to you, lying to you and making you their sucker intentionally for power. You don’t care, because it gains your team power and you like being lied to, and no amount of criminality and dishonesty is a deal breaker for you….absolutely nothing could make you upset that you belong to a terrorist anti American party of crooks and frauds, not even when they call to repeal the constitution and eliminate voting.
If Democrats perpetrated this kind of fraud you would be apoplectic, totally enraged and calling for another insurrection, but they never have and never would because their constituents care about honesty, facts, and ethics unlike the right.

You love to “both sides” every time your side gets caught pulling fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud after fraud, but you NEVER come up with examples of anything close to the scope and immorality of the Republicans. I show you a dozen concerted efforts by campaigns and elected officials to defraud elections on massive, 10000 votes and more scale, you come back with one woman who cast a single provisional ballot in Texas after officials cleared her to vote and say “both sides”.

Democrats aren’t perfect, but 98% of corruption, fraud, outright lies, self dealing, etc is on the Republican side, and 100% of yes to big money in politics, 100% of domestic terrorism, 100% of anti democracy sentiment, 100% of child sex abuse, 100% of calls to rescind the constitution is on the right. Or as you say….both sides.

Where were the Dems opo research?
A mild scratch of the surface and all this would come out.

That being said he should be kicked out. But Rep's will not do such a thing because they need him to hold the majority.

Sad to see that our government is so corrupt and standards so low. This is on both sides.

And?

Finally a movie starring Kristen Stewart that looks like it could be fun. The last one was Panic Room.

Young man shot after GPS error

Sagemind says...

So the answer here is what...?

Larger fences
Gated communities
More lights on properties
Regular psychological evaluations for everyone owning a gun
Panic Buttons
Panic Rooms
Limit the use of guns
Limit the storage of guns in a home

Fact: No gun and the kid would still be living.
Fact: If he was protecting himself with a sword, no one would have died.

How do you make the call on who is the good guy with the gun and who is the bad guy? This guy was the good guy, until he killed someone, now he's the bad guy. No gun = no bad guy.

Saying safe gun handles should get guns and everyone else gets them taken away doesn't work. Who makes that call?

This is more of a case where all the bad apples spoil it for the good apples while the good apples accidentally spoil it for the remaining good apples. In the end, you can't tell the good apples from the bad apples.

If only I had a gun

iaui says...

To be honest, I think most of you are missing a major point in the video. Yes, the 'science' behind the panic-room tests are questionable, but there are several important points made about humans' ability to respond with a gun in a crisis situation.

Let's review, shall we?
- When the adrenaline begins to pump, the body removes blood from the appendages in order to make sure it's better at running. This removes dexterity from the hands and can render grabbing and shooting a gun futile. Only through major training can those interested parties (police, in this case) retrain their bodies.
- The minds of those in crises narrow their focus, to focus in on the danger point. In these cases the danger point is another gun but focussing on the gun is futile, because it's the human that's shooting the gun. As well, there are many other things going on in the room it's necessary to be aware of, that those in the situation will simply not be aware of. Shooting at someone without paying attention is likely to have unintended consequences. Again, only through major training can those interested parties retrain their minds to broaden their focus.
- Unless you train regularly, it's often impossible to react with enough speed to do anything before the consequences of not running catch up with you.
- Probabilistically speaking, it's better to just run, because only 50% of people with guns will actually shoot, and each shot is more unlikely to hit you the further away you are.

Now, having said all that, I don't think it's bad that anybody owns guns. Just that they need to realize that in crisis situations they're not really that effective. Yes, it's great that you have a bunch of guns in case the government decides to become a dictatorship. I live in Canada where everybody is allowed to own guns who wants to (assuming they pass license requirements) and we're one of the safest countries in the world. I must admit, though, nobody I know owns a gun. I live in Vancouver, BC where there's recently been a few gang-style shootings, but nobody I've talked to feels unsafe. I mean... there's 11,000 murders in the US every year, but there's less than 50 per year in Canada. Even at the small amount of gang murders the public outrage has been huge. These people know they are not welcome to practice their violence here (or anywhere for that matter.) Not much to worry about here.

It's not guns that kill people, it's crazy people with guns that kill people. (:

So, to conclude, I think that focusing on the 'shady' science done by NBC is incorrect. Many of the important points made in the piece were simply corollaries to the demonstration. If you want to maximize your chances of surviving a gun-standoff, just fucking run. Or, if you want to minimize you chances of being in a gun-standoff, just move to Canada. Of course, you will have to accept Canada's national identity (Peace for all) if you move here, so make sure you're ready for that. (:

P.S. I didn't intend that to be about Canada, just happened to mention it and ran with it. Don't think I'm trying to be nationalistic, just realistic, given the statistics.

Panic Room by Fairlight (64k demo) - amazing.

64k? I'm absolutely blown away, even assuming they are using procedural textures.. does the music count as well?

I've never worked on demos, but it's my understanding that everything you see and hear comes out of that 64KB, yes. Procedural everything (and a bit of sampling on the audio, I assume) and ridiculous system specs to make it run smoothly.
