Why Being Honest about Ghostbusters is Important
I've seen it. It was indeed funny AND entertaining. I enjoyed it about as much as I enjoyed Ghostbusters 2, which was a much lazier rehash of the same premise of the first movie to cash in on the name.
Yet...somehow, people don't remember the second movie that way. But they, having not seen it in a lot of cases, view this movie as an A-Bomb for the movie industry. The most scorn worthy example of remakes ever! Most disliked trailer in youtube history! Yet....somehow, the same fate didn't befall TMNT, Transformers, Robocop, et all.
But we also forget, some of our most beloved genre movies and well liked films were remakes of older movies before our time. The Thing, The Fly, The Departed, True Grit, 12 Monkeys, etc. It's not that it's evil ole hollywood "not having original ideas and scripts", because we have unoriginal ideas and scripts in the hallows of nerd fandom.
Really seems like there is one sort of X-Factor about this particular remake of a previous nerd-centric IP that set it apart from all the others people ignored or fell in love in with....
Hodor makes fun of Apple in Samsung ad
Yeah, I don't know if most source material will be better here than on the iPad. Wake me when you have a 4k OLED with HDR.
That said, the ending, they show the tablet in portrait mode rather than landscape. After all he said...
Hodor makes fun of Apple in Samsung ad
The Galaxy Tab S2 (and the iPad) has a 2048x1536 (not 1080p) screen, but it's not the resolution they're bragging about. Samsung uses OLED screens, which offer far better picture quality than IPS LED. The contrast, color reproduction, and viewing angles are way better than any IPS LED screen.
Display Mate rated the S7 screen rated as the best they'd ever tested. ([url redacted] I really want to get an OLED TV someday, but they're so expensive... Someday...
Edit: It won't let me post urls, so you'll have to google the display mate review I guess...
Uhhh... your shit is 1080p like everyone elses, fatty. i tablet is just fine.

"The Late Show" Open Director's Cut
This is great. Long-time Colbert fan.
I've been watching the new late show and after a while I noticed some "Where's Waldo?" Colberts hidden in the intro. I didn't spot any new ones in this version, but the three subtle ones I know of are in there.
The obvious ones (basketball, piano) don't count.
Hints: 1. Ole! 2. Tablecloth 3. Big flag wave!

Theme Park, The Void, Blends Virtual and Physical Worlds
My friend actually filed a patent for this exact system back in 2004, right down to the OLED visors: http://goo.gl/LfDDos
However, the cost of retaining a lawyer and the patent office's recurring fees and drawn out review process bled him dry. Just as he was getting close to finally registering it he fell on hard times and had to put the process on hold. As a result, his patent went into the public domain after 18 months. He was heartbroken and still is, especially now that this video is being shared everywhere.
As much as I love this idea and want to see it become a reality, I can't help but feel like this company got at least some of the details they needed from my friend's patent. It pisses me off that our copyright system screws over small inventors and gives those with plenty of money a free pool of research and hard work.
There's nothing on display there that isn't easily achievable with current technology, but I'm guessing they're still a ways out from actually opening.
My friends and I came up with the same idea a while ago after playing with a rift, but we never did anything about it. Kudos to these guys for trying something.
The Cicret Bracelet-Concept/Scam/Want
What they're showing certainly is ridiculous, but I'd be pretty happy with a monochrome green projection. That said, in all likelihood some sort of flexible OLED patch or wrist band would probably be practical long before this is. Probably even some sort of fluorescing tattoo.
I do like the possibilities of short throw pico projectors combined with machine vision for user interfaces though. You could take Newtboy's dual projector concept and have something the size of a couple marker pens that unrolls like a scroll, with the screen in the middle.
When it comes down to it, though, what I really want right now is something about the size of a smartphone, with minimized thickness an e-ink display and a limited feature set (phone, text, e-mail, and basic web surfing), the whole design optimized for battery life and performing just those four functions adequately. An easily replaceable battery would be nice too.
You would need to be in a very dark environment for it to look anything like what they show. You can't project anything darker than the screen surface.
Sam Harris: Can Psychedelics Help You Expand Your Mind?
I know you're a big ole troll, shiny, about as christian as my left shoe, but to indulge you for a moment, those two quotes in particular, if you are an -actual- Christian who believes that Jesus -was- in fact God, then you know that the passage from John has no particularly stronger meaning than being with the deity is important to your life's salvation. That's nothing particularly unique to Christianity.
With regards to that other out of context Luke quote, who the heck knows what you mean by quoting it, other than Jesus wanted you to feel bad for doing bad things. Not exactly exclusivist. Pretty sure that thought has been around since the first inkling of empathy happened in the great apes..
This isn't distracting at all
OLED paint? Very futuristic.
And yes I can see some crazy applications for active camo.

Also, punching voodoo is just a fantasy for me, although I think it would do him a world of good. Now who can honestly say that being more mannerly and civil wouldn't be a good thing for ole voodoo?
Drag Queen Gives Impassioned Speech About Homophobia
you just went right over his head @enoch
all I know is that @lantern53 just can't stop talking or thinking about homosexuals. He can't seem control himself as he is apparently forced to comment on virtually every sift involving alternative sexuality.
such obsession....such devoted passion! Pulsing and throbbing with energy!
Something tells me the psychologists would have a field day with fabulous ole lantern here.
