I Am Not Moving - Occupy Wall Street

enoch says...

>> ^Winstonfield_Pennypacker:

M'eh - I'll say it again. The OWS guys are angry at the wrong target. They are like a guy who blames his apartment's supervisor for the policies of his landlord.
As I am the most brilliant person I know, I'll just quote myself...
"The FED jacked around the rates. The FED changed Glass-Steagall. The FED told banks they would back ARMs. So in the year 2000, some doofus who earned only 30K a year could walk into a bank to find a literal smorgasboard of million dollar loans he legally qualified which would have laughed him out of the bank in 1995.
Some banks acted conservatively in the bubble and many others chose to do the risky (but still legal) loans. Just like how there were borrowers who behaved conservatively during the bubble, and others who took the risky (but legal) option. The problem was that the number of conservative players was a lot smaller than the risk-takers.
The banks were stupid to take so many risks. People were stupid to take out so many loans. But it was GOVERNMENT that engineered the whole mess. They are the primary offender in this picture. The Federal Government. If government had not interfered in the market, then the whole mess would never have happened."
Cain hit the nail on the head when he said the protesters should be at the White House. The problem is that the OWS crowd is primarily composed of a bunch of fringe, left-wing dupes and they only go where their prog-lib pipers order them to go.

@winston_pennypacker
LOL..awesome.
wait..you are being serious?
duuuuude.
check your facts brother.
who "owns" the FED?
ill give ya a hint..it aint the federal government.
and look into WHO lobbied for class steagal to be recinded/revised.

i find it interesting how tea party folks say that OWS is angry at the wrong people.that they should be angry at the government.
i can agree with that ..in part.
but to ignore the massive influence, corruption and outright theft of our political system by the corporate elite is JUST as naive.
for 30 years both have built a relationship that has become so entwined and entrenched that BOTH need a serious enema.
a plutocracy that has become a machine that enables each other to perpetuate the status quo.

the tea partiers, the original tea party, not the corporate sponsored koch brother bullshit machine, and OWS are both correct in their anger.
wall street for their BLATANT disregard for the law and outright LIES and FRAUD which has been swept under the rug by a government THEY (meaning wall street) PAID for.

the tea party should head down to every occupy protest, join hands with those folks and REALLY start making the whores we call "politicians" start peeing their pants.
because NOTHING gets a government, crown, leader or grand poo-ba crapping himself than a few thousand really pissed of citizens.

but that aint gonna happen because my country still has a majority of retards who buy in to the whole "rightwing nutbag","neo-lib socialist"..blah blah blah.

bullshit fed to the masses in an easy to swallow diatribe broadcast on a media that was bought by the very people fucking you in the ass for 3 decades.

americas propaganda machine is by far one of the most effective.

The Daily Show-Full Ron Paul Interview (Part 1)

volumptuous says...

Jerk is still a jerk.

Just because I dislike much of what Ron Paul stands for and his policies, doesn't mean I don't "understand freedom". Typical Republican response, and SO fucking similar to "your either with us, or you're with the terrorists". Is he taking lines from Dick Cheney now?

The more I listen to him, and the more I study economics and macroeconomics, the more I realize that either Dr.Paul is a liar or is stupid. I'm not sure which, but he is so grossly wrong about so many things it makes me cringe to think of how much I used to support his beloved "message". (I actually sent him money and voted for him in the primaries as well.. fuck!)

He does what the GOP does every day, point to a failure somewhere and exclaim "well, if you did it my way it wouldn't be so fucked up!" which is nothing but pure horseshit.

Stewart was right. Where has this idea ever worked? The answer is NO FUCKING WHERE.

And you know what? We have this happiness index that is very, very clear. Societies that have strict government regulation over corporations and the environment, have the most prosperous economic conditions (except for creating do-nothing millionaires like Ron Paul), the healthiest citizens, the highest levels of employment, the best education, the best health care and basically the happiest people on the planet. Oh, and unlike Ron Paul, these countries aren't filled with religious nutbags.

Ron Paul: Drug war killed more people than drugs

VoodooV says...

Agreed, It's extremely frustrating knowing that I agree with him in matters of foreign policy and getting out of the drug war and out of people's bedrooms, but he's a complete nutbag when it comes to other things like economic policy. He's a perfect example of how you simply can't apply one political philosophy (liberalism, libertarianism, conservatism, etc) to all situations. Not all situations are equal. some things are served better by liberalism, some things are better served by conservatism, etc. You can't apply one formula to all things.

I agree completely with ChaosEngine, it has been demonstrated time and time again that you simply cannot trust a business to do the right thing when profit motive is involved. Yes, public retaliation plays a role, but the bigger a company is, the harder it is retaliate because it requires more and more dissatisfied customers to put a big enough dent in profits to motivate them to change.

I don't recall who said it, but Capitalism is an awesome engine for progress and innovation, but it's a shitty way to run a just and fair society. Forget separation of church and state..we need separation of profit and ethics

I like to think its a sort of hybrid of bigotry and empathy... the individual feels that you are willfully ignoring something that is terribly important to them, and that sets you apart as someone different but also needing help.

"Hell is a bad place; you don't want to end up there; just start believing and quit arguing with me wierdo!"

Monotheism strikes again.

That's a very good point. I don't understand why fundamentalists need to tell everyone else how to live. I think it has something to do with being adjacent to power. Give fundamentalists power and you have problems...the Amish, I don't think they seek power too much.

@Pprt

Just like Islam or Judaism isn't race. Neither is being a ginger.

Not to mention - Adult White Males have been the most privileged, self-entitled, killin' & manipulating "lesser" cultures type homo sapiens on the planet for a few centuries now, at least.

So what the hell are you talking about "civilizations going extinct"?

I pretty sure that dude used a frickin' computer to mock up this crazy ass diatribe, took an electric tram to the scene and used his iphone to call his nutbag friends before he went thru with it.

You should take an anthropology course before you go poppin' off at the mouth like that.

CNN Says You Are Mentally Ill If You Doubt Osama's Death

VoodooV says...

As much as I want to marginalize all the conspiracy theorists as nutbags. I just can't accept some psychiatrist as a reliable source of information to conclusively prove that Osama is dead. The interview just reeked too much of punditry.

Do I believe Osama is dead, sure. Is it possible the gov't is lying to us on this, certainly. There is definitely a need to have a healthy level of skepticism, but we're definitely getting to that point where ideology is just getting in the way too much and all we see are lies and conspiracies.

If you really believe that strongly that you absolutely cannot trust our gov't to that large of a degree. Then seriously, I have to ask...why are you living here? Is it just our gov't you don't trust, or just all gov't? Even if you hate all gov't that much....It's just time for you to leave. It's time for you to put your money where your mouth is, pack up, and go live the mountain man lifestyle.

If you're right, and we really can't trust are gov't the way the pundits would have you believe, it's in your own best interest to get the heck out of dodge.

It's more likely they're just making noise and just trolling. There are simply no consequences to calling your gov't a liar. Not that I'm saying there should be. But talk is cheap.

We either need to fucking ignore the trolls and move on, or hold their feet to the fire and put the burden of proof on them. Prove that 9/11 was an inside job. Prove that Osama is still alive. Prove that Obama is a Muslim Socialist Kenyan. Otherwise STFU.

Anything less is just noise to be tuned out and not given any more credibility.

YouTube Singer Charged With 20 Year Felony

You Tube Video from Alleged Gunman in Giffords' Shooting

RedSky says...

I agree, people aren't motivated to kill by phrases like "don't retreat, reload" or state billboards with crosshairs, but by the exaggerated and false and highly incendiary rhetoric they voice about individual rights, morality and the economy.

If you truly believed that a vague and amorphous entity called 'the government' was going to devalue everyone's currency to nothing and was brainwashing its citizens, would you not be compelled to act drastically?>> ^blankfist:

Wow, what a nutbag. As an aside, I think people may be placing blame wrongfully on the Tea Party and Palin for this incident. This guy seems more like an Alex Jones conspiratorial nutbag than anything else. That's what he seems like to me. Someone who came to libertarianism but got very lost and very angry in the process.
