"KKK Endorses Trump" Shirt Disrupts Rally, Stops Trump Cold

Mookal says...

Ah the good old days... Like the great depression, two world wars, TV dinners, women's right to vote, racism, the cold war, disco, perms, MTV's The Real World.

What about freedom of speech? That would make for a pretty good day.

remember in the 80's MTV had a show called "liquid television"?
remember aeon flux?
thats peter chung, the animator who made dark fury.
it is a pretty decent short film based on the riddick universe.kinda like animatrix in a way.

I didn't know anyone made this movie. Now I'll have to find it somewhere.
I also didn't know Riddick was really just an attention whore. Across for attention, lengthwise for results.

6 phrases with racist origins you may have been unaware

I find her racism towards country folks annoying. She says "hey stranger, long time no see" like a cowboy is having sex with his sister...huck huck dumb country boy. Sure do gots a pretty mouth.

But as this adds something to the debate (mostly that MTV is dead for a reason and this talentless woman is not its savior...) I will upvote it.

Cibo Matto - Sugar Water

I remember seeing this video on MTV back when it was new, almost certainly rather late at night. It was a bit of a mindfuck, but upon subsequent viewings I mostly just came to appreciate the incredible amount of planning that obviously went into it. Pretty sure this was directed by Michel Gondry, who has done a ton of excellent videos (seriously, if you've not done so before check out as much of his stuff as possible).

Bjork takes apart a TV

Same here, kept waiting for the flyback transformer to "flow some electrons".

By the way 1992 called and wants its MTV VJ clothes back.

Was so waiting for her to to catch a lethal jolt from dicking around with the CRT around 1:30 in. I guess it was already discharged before they let her screw with it.

David Bowie ~ Ashes to Ashes

ulysses1904 says...

I bought this 45 rpm in 1980, back when they still sold 45's. First 45 I ever bought was "In the Year 2525" in 1969, last one I bought was the Stones "Undercover of the Night" in 1984. Since you asked.

This was Bowie's last great album. They went rapidly downhill after this one. I saw him on the Serious Moonlight tour, it was a great show but then I read this lame BS where he said he was "surprised" by the commercial success of "Let's Dance" and when he looked out into the vast stadiums of ticket buyers he wondered how many of them had actually heard a Velvet Underground song. Ya can't have it both ways, putting out a dance record for the MTV crowd and then wishing you were at a backstreet club.

Need More Proof That The Music Industry Is Fake? Here You Go

Grimm says...

I disagree...I don't think it has "always" been this way. But I do think it has been this way since the MTV generation. I think before music videos the worse you would have with a pop star would be them singing live over pre-recorded music...but the singer still sang live.

I go to a lot of concerts and honestly I'm not going to see any of these acts even if they did perform live. I just don't get why their fans put up with it/don't care.

My point still stands that "pop" music has always been about image and manipulation over music.
