Shaqtin' A Fool: Javale McGee - Hilarious Basketball Plays

This looks like a dupe but in case it's not. It's not nice to make fun of the mentally challenged.

It's not a dupe in the "Videosift" sense, the only reason I put it up is they ran this a few nights ago after the Jazz vs. Suns game and I now easily assume the "Shaqtin' A Fool" bit is a little on the stale side.

But, I liked the commentary and the hiliarity of the plays so I thought I'd at least sift it for that reason alone.

If enough people think it's overkill to have this video I'll kill it--no problems to be had .

Seriously, what is wrong with the guy. I'm glad he has a coach and training team that genuinely seem to be trying to stop him from doing these "no-brainers" type of mistakes now in Denver. The look on the face during those plays of the Wizards coach did have to make you laugh though...

Javale McGee, Weirdest NBA Player Ever

Sorry but I don't get this. Are these his only faults? That would be fucking impressive.
And if not and he does them time and time again. Is he playing because of the entertainment factor?
The more I think of it the less of a point this video has.
Also: Where is number 7 and what is redicioulus supposed to mean?

The original submitter on youtube was pretending Javale himself was the creator of this video, hence the odd misspellings and the lack of '7'.

It's stupid I know lol

Javale McGee, Weirdest NBA Player Ever

shang says...

McGee is really one of the strangest in the game, he don't know difference between offense and defense and when they are down you don't do that. It's why he's not a star and is the laughing stock of the nba really.

He shouldn't even be playing the game, he's a moron at it.

Unreal Engine 3: "Under The Hood" technology trailer

Sylvester_Ink says...

Westy hits on some good points. The reason so many games end up looking so similar is that the developers are constrained by the code and examples of work they see done with engines like this and as a result they don't explore the engine further to make the game their own. There are some exceptions. The Quake engine was notable for powering games like American McGee's Alice (which looks great to this day), the Star Trek: Elite Forces games, and the Star Wars: Dark Forces/Jedi Knight games. So developers can definitely come up with some unique looking games, but the have to spend time learning and understanding the engine they're using, and with all the extensive stuff in modern game engines, it could end up being a lot more work than just writing your own game engine (even if it doesn't look quite as fantastic.)

Deus Ex, which is my favorite game of all time, displays the weaknesses of this method. Because the developers were so reliant on another team's engine, they had to hack a lot of the stuff into the game to get the results they wanted. As a result, the game sometimes felt a tad clunky. (But it's still the best game evar!)

But the most important thing is that graphics like this don't make a game better. I was recently talking to a buddy and comparing the original Unreal Tournament from 1999 to UT3. While UT3 is a gorgeous game, it's just nowhere near as fun. It's distracting in fact. To me the old graphics are more appealing because I can see what I'm doing.

The point of all this is that while a tool like this can be a boon to developers in some areas of game creation, there are just as many detriments that can have a negative effect on a game that could be better done by the developers writing the engine from scratch.

Um, I wasn't talking about Cenk. Even Tits McGee's audio is terrible. Also, bandwidth? What bandwitdth are they paying for? Last I checked, Youtube was free. >> ^BoneyD:

God, I hate TYT. Why the fuck is their audio recording so shitty? My cell phone has better clarity than these morons' set-up.
Also, why the fuck can't I just watch a newsclip?

Because Cenk is in New York, talking via PolyCom back to their Los-Angeles studio. Previously, they were using Skype while he was over there, which was just a god-awful experience; constantly breaking up or cutting out.
Why isn't it better? Well... I guess despite TYT turning over $1 million a year from member fees, advertising and YouTube partnership, their 11 employees and bandwidth costs must be expensive. The stream from the LA studio itself has improved over what it was a couple of years ago and the YouTube clips are generally much higher quality.
I dunno. For a non-corporate media outlet, I think they do okay.

They broadcast their whole 2 hour show on the site, looping 24 hours a day. Statsholic shows ~45k unique visitors a day and similar from freewebsitereport. How much data they actually use, I have no idea; but I didn't suggest that bandwidth was their sole expense.

BTW, I had watched this segemnt from the live stream. When I went back and watched this YT clip, it was WAY clearer. Is it 1080p? No. But does it really, really need to be that good?

Re: "Barret, a prominent racist and homophobe was murdered after soliciting sex from Vincent McGee, AN AFRICAN-AMERICAN man. Could it be any more ironic, folks?"

The video summary is factually incorrect. (It asserts certainty for a statement that is very uncertain.) A murderer telling a story that's in his best interest and his defense attorney being 'kind of sure' doesn't = fact.

Science, it works.

New Alice in Wonderland Full-Length Trailer

MilkmanDan says...

Are they paying royalties to American McGee? I had heard that a movie was being created based on his dark videogame take on the story, but it seemed like that was falling through at every turn. And I didn't see his name anywhere in the credits here.

Unfortunately, I tend to think that Disney is the absolute worst outfit to have their tentacles hands on this project. The last "good" original idea Disney had was to buy Pixar and then slowly take over the branding of Pixar's movies to pretend that they are creatively responsible for them.
