Shootout in Parliament Building

Payback says...

Well, historically, he's armed with a big ass club (mace) that he's supposed to bash heads with should a fight break out. I was just surprised he was "packin' heat".

I always knew he was in charge of Parliament security, but a lot of positions that are 100s of years old tend to be completely ceremonial, like the Speaker of the House.

It's like finding out the British "Beefeaters" (Yeoman Warders, the Royal bodyguards) actually have UZI machine guns under their hats and silenced Glocks stuck in their waistcoats when all they ever do is really conduct tours.

Well, would he still be at arms if he wasn't armed?

A restored WWII fighter with operational machine guns

I agree; I was just startled that someone could even do this; and for purposes of the Sift, to see the 6 machine guns actually firing---that's sort of amazing. In terms of rounds fired, 6 together would be the equivalent of one Gatling gun now, I think. (6X500 rounds per minute = roughly equal to a burst from a GE minigun?)

The P-51 is one of the most beautiful machines ever built, IMHO.

While there's no arguing that its cause was just, its job was still an ugly one. I'd much rather see it fly than fire its guns.

Insurance scam doesn't go as planned

Wow yourself.

Those are mostly really horrible examples and gross misinterpretation of things that've been said here.

Most of the things you're talking about are not even closely related to someone putting themselves into a position of imminent danger.

Smokers, second-hand smoking, addiction, extreme sporting, and *anyone* who does *anything* *potentially* dangerous? Say what? Your nonsensical examples have no relation whatsoever to what I've been discussing.

Laying under a moving car or playing Russian roulette or climbing into an alligator pit or shooting at cops with machine guns... Yes, those kinds of things are exactly the same as someone with a lifetime of addiction or who uses safety gear and expertise with a reasonable expectation they'll walk away from their sporting activity unharmed. Right? Pshaw.

You're either doing a really bad job of trolling or just a really bad masterdebater.

Wow.

So, smokers who get lung cancer can go fuck themselves? Same for people who live with smokers? No sympathy for those assholes. They should've known better. Having said that, Amy Winehouse can go fuck herself as well, everbody knows the risks of alcoholism. And no sympathy for Paul Walker either. Speeding, really? And those idiots dying in parachuting accidents deserve what's coming to them as well. Should've stayed on the ground. Same with every somewhat dangerous sport. Applies to you too, Michael Schuhmacher.
Fuck all those people who did something potentially dangerous and got seriously hurt or killed because of it. Empathy is for pussies anyways.
This is especially valid for people who cause others financial harm as they deserve death the most. Preferably by having the head crushed under a tire.

Cliven Bundy Shares Some Peculiar Views

I both agree and disagree.
Cops should try do de-escalate when possible, but also should not allow felonies to continue unabated and/or felons to just walk away from the violent crimes they just committed in front of officers, as they did.

Like you said, if Wesley Snipes had called out the crips and bloods (not to be racist, it's an extreme example) to protect his right to not pay taxes, the cops would almost certainly NOT have 'backed off'...I would like equal treatment across the board. They didn't back down in Waco, or Boston, or Pakistan, or Afghanistan, or Iraq....why start now to 'save lives', especially the lives of admitted traitors to the USA? (if you proclaim your readiness and willingness to fight an armed battle against the federal government that you publicly denounce, and ask others to join your armed insurgency, you ARE a traitor to the USA, period, in my opinion...look up "the whiskey rebellion" for historical context.)
EDIT: I think they should have called the national guard to restore order, since the local officers were so outmatched. A couple of heavy armored vehicles and a few hundred machine guns and/or a few attack helicopters buzzing about would have made them think twice about advancing, unlike the smattering of officers with pistols that backed away and allowed the theft (and killing) of confiscated cattle.

Some human lives need to end. :-) In this situation it's not about putting one person away, it's about upholding the rule of law, which is being publicly broken not only by one jackhole, but by all the armed 'terrorists' that have proclaimed 'war' on the federal government with him, and therefore on the USA.

It does 'blow a hole' in that 'tyrannical state' argument, but that argument was so full of holes to begin with it didn't need another to prove it wrong. He doesn't even believe in the federal 'state', so how can it be tyrannical? :-)

I'm also certain this isn't over, the first time he or his wife go to town without their private army they'll likely be going to the pokey. I also assume their accounts have been frozen (I hope so anyway) and the title to their family land has a federal lien on it. I also hope all federal welfare support for his family has dried up, along with his mail service and any other federal program(s) they take advantage of. He has no right to federal services, he's a tax cheat and felon.

I see it differently I'm glad the BLM decided to back off and figure this situation out. If this guy and his followers aren't going to be sensible someone should if only to protect human lives. It's something that always bothered me about how Cops operate, there's no reason to go crazy because someone broke a minor law and risk lives. You back off and you figure it out, you don't need to shoot up a street corner and risk the lives of many people to put one away.

It also blows a hole in the side of the argument that the Tyrannical State will stop at nothing to destroy so called Patriots who are fighting for justice. They obviously didn't, they acted rationally in my view. I'm certain this isn't over they're looking at other options and perhaps waiting till they can create a dialog or something. This won't just be set aside forever and they know that.

Bill Burr Questions Blind Guy In The Audience

I've watched quite a lot of Bill Burr and also listened to his Monday Morning Podcast and there's nothing better than when he laughs for reals: it's that sort of high-pitched giggly machine gun type laugh. Cracks my shit up.

Amazing. My parents lived in West Berlin from 1966-68, just before I was born, and witnessed this kind of thing first-hand. These people were very lucky. People were machine-gunned in similar situations. In some cases they weren't even trying to escape, but just found themselves on the wrong side of a buoy.

5 Gun Myths We Believe b/c of Movies

coolhund says...

Also no mention of subsonic ammunition which makes silenced guns even more silent.
They dont know the different between a machine gun and an assault rifle either.
But to be fair, an AK47 (not a machine gun) can burst into flames. Well kinda at least. The heat will be so big that the wood will catch fire. But not after only a few shots fired as suggest in this video. That will take several hundred bullets to happen, if not over a thousand.

If the people who made this knew anything about guns it would probably be better.

No, your barrel will not burst into flames.

When I was in the Army, some guys hooked up five belts to a MG with an old worn out barrel that was to be thrown away, just to see what would happen. It shot cleanly all the way to the end of the 1,000 round belt without stopping, jams or misfires. The barrel was just starting to glow a bit by the end.

What happens is you burn out the threads if you fire repetitively for a long time, but actually melting the barrel is pretty much impossible (and metal doesn't burn morons).

Works pretty well, not as quiet as the movie, but not excessively loud.

I'm not going to watch further, because this video is spreading as many lies as it clears up.

I have to agree...they don't seem to know what they're talking about....but
What might happen is the plastic/wood in direct contact with the barrel could burst into flames. I would guess that's why most (all?) true machine guns are all metal construction, but some idiots convert semi-auto guns with wood and plastic parts to full auto...asking for trouble.
And yes, while some 'silencers' don't do much, others drastically reduce both noise and muzzle flash. The mouse fart is overdoing it, but so is the demonstration shown where is seems there's almost no reduction.
What they missed is the idea that you can install a 'silencer' with 3/4 turn in 1/4 of a second. A real 'silencer' that's removable (really called a suppressor, because that's what they do) will have fine machine threads and need 5-10 full turns to be seated. Most movie 'silencers' would fly off with the first shot, silencing nothing and probably damaging the gun.

There's your analogous scenario.
