Dock Ellis and the LSD No-No

That Time Dock Ellis Took LSD And Pitched A No-Hitter

Your Brain On Ayahuasca: The Hallucinogenic Drug

shagen454 says...

I took ayahuasca with a brazillian religion called Santo Diame... in the US, we would call them a cult. And cult-like it was! I've smoked DMT many times and I fully encourage "explorers" to start small and smoke it instead of ingesting ayahuasca. It's all very difficult to figure out scientifically, but one of the interesting aspects of ayahuasca to me, was that you could close your eyes and be in another dimension, open them up and basically feel drunk and know everything was OK, get up and walk around.

However, the visions that I had were absolutely violent, with archetypes of the day of the dead and greek mythology emerging while people puked and cried while I was attached to their sound and energies, brains exploding, the power of life telling me it was going to get me, I could fight it all I wanted (I just smiled the whole time), but it was going to get me - and then it let me slide, eventually. DMT has a known effect, that is of "ego-death" or "near death experience"... and I definitely fought it off, having experienced it before. It was a deranged, somewhat fun, somewhat enlightening, traumatic experience that I would recommend to no one. And I can see that it's definitely not a lone man/woman mission as in to dose yourself with this stuff because it's definitely more intense than LSD or mushrooms and the mixture, though simple - would require a bit of practicing and knowledge about it.

I just find smoking DMT to be way better, shorter and much safer, but also WAY more intense and awesome. But, it's certainly not for everyone, it's like unlocking the unknown/impossible laws of the Universe, it's impossible to understand but you understand it while you are there as it is communicated to you; might be just in your brain but somehow nature provided this (bizarre/impossible) experience for you to be able to have.... ---- do not understand

How LSD and Shrooms could help w/ Mental Health disorders

shagen454 says...

I've never really found LSD that useful in any way to be honest. Shrooms (psilocybin) are a form of DMT (4-HO-DMT). For both experience and medical reasons, DMT or ayahuasca & Iboga are the two that are the most promising. Both ayahuasca & iboga have been used to overcome addictions and mental disorders and the experiences they contain are nearly in a whole other ballpark from all other types of "drugs". It'll probably take another 50 years for the establishments to admit to their health benefits or that they should be studying how they interact with the brain. Anyone who has experienced them knows it's going to take science a long fucking time into the future to only sort of understand.

New Rule – For the Love of Bud

shagen454 says...

My opinion is any natural "drug" should be legal. Any substance that is found in nature, with minimal processing should be absolutely 100% legal, no doubt about it.

The irony of this is that there are still great legal natural "drugs" out there. They still allow San Pedro (mescaline), you can still easily buy Morning Glory (LSA similar to LSD), you can still buy plants to create ayahuasca and extract DMT, you can still buy Yopo seeds and snort that shit (5 MEO DMT) and obviously everyone knows about Salvia.

The only reason I can think of that these haven't been scheduled is due to the fact that they never became very popular/rampant in popular culture.

And now they have more to deal with - due to the banning of weed and stuff people want like MDMA - everyday dangerous new analogs (far more dangerous than the real stuff) come out which are "legal" until banned. They ought to just let people do what they want to do and let the "free market" sort it out like the capitalist bullshit they propagate everywhere else. There are successful working models out there to guide the little boy blue.

The Most Satisfying Video Ever Made

It's alright. I got bored. Forwarded through a bit and the baseball smash was super like totally wow cool. Smashing a baseball. I think I did that with an electric vice. Used to smash shit all day smoking pot, whiskeyed out, at least 6 beers into an LSD trip.
Was there music then? Not sure. Might have been real.
Anyway, what is reality these days? I think it's
4 hours of sleep, 6 hours of driving, 12 hours
of working, and 2 hours for divided by all
the entertainment leading to such a
density of complexity the grey

Here me out: LSD aaaand a coffee-alprazolam-bourbon. Maybe throw in a bong toke. Why does your office smell like incense all the time? Because I practice tantric yoga with the company hooker every morning.

Maybe. I think I'm more 'once bitten, twice shy', and just trying to help some people not get bitten.
Some people were totally open about their LSD experiences in the 60's-70's, and claimed it helped them in their fields. I can't find when Francis Crick is said to have admitted it, but it sounds like it was in the 70's if not earlier. As I see it, LSD was seen back then in near the same light DMT is today...relatively unstudied and often miss-used as an illicit hardcore 'recreational' drug.

FBI? Fairly Bothered by Intoxicants? Certainly not! Just extra wary of certain ones. ;-)

I'd say your attitude towards it is not all that different than the majority of society. For most of American society (at least), they haven't even heard of this thing and then when they've researched it a little bit they will, understandably, think it sounds absolutely insane.

The difference being - the people who took LSD later attributed their research or creations to it after they became famous and rich and LSD had already become apart of the cultural apparatus, DMT is still fringe and will probably remain fringe for how insane it actually is lol

Are you FBI? lol

It would be astonishing to me to find that many people had developed advances in technology thanks to this drug, but for some reason 100% of them keep quiet about it. As you mentioned, other illicit drugs have been publicly given credit for inspiring useful discoveries. Given that, why might this one drug be considered something to hide so universally, especially if it's potential usefulness is so great?
Art is a different thing, and it often benefits more from injurious experiences rather than beneficial ones, so it's not a good measure of a drugs overall merit.

How to DMT

shagen454 says...

I'm sure there are people out there that have come up with software/technology from the influence of DMT, they just haven't come forth. I'd say that it has recognizably influenced ideas & thought - especially in the area of frequencies, energy, reality is a hologram sort of shit like that because the DMT experience is the frequency, mandala portal experience, lol! It's certainly influenced great art, look at Alex Grey. I've learned a lot of things that seem to not apply to this reality and the last time I took it, the only thing I learned was "GOOGLE", lol.

LSD on the otherhand has definitely influenced technology and science. My favorite LSD thought experiment become reality was Francis Crick's discovery of the DNA strand while on it.

"I'm still waiting for the insightful invention someone comes up with after one of these amazing 'conversations' with non-human beings. If this drug really did what those into it claim, you would expect most users to be incredible 'outside the box' inventors advancing science in ways normal people would never consider...but I have not heard of even a single instance of that kind of useful insight coming from DMT."

Personal experience. I've heard that from other people too about how they feel when coming down.

I'd say this is pretty on point: https://www.reddit.com/r/LSD/comments/ugcc4/what_is_the_lsd_comedown_like_first_timer_here/

I didn't mean for that to sound negative, it's more like a "I should correct that ______ in my life." kind of feeling.

A look through your comments explains why you sound so much like a douche here.

Trancecoach said:

That sounds a whole lot like some kind of absurd "Reefer Madness" kind of "thinking."

On what are you basing that "feeling?" Leaving aside that serotonin is involved with mood (and not meaning or motivation) and that LSD's binding to the receptor sites increases not decreases the amount of serotonin available in the synaptic cleft (performing the same effect as any other SSRI like Zoloft, Paxil, or Prozac), there is actually no reason why any of the hundreds of successful professionals that I know who have taken LSD multiple times would express such a feeling on the basis of taking LSD.

If anything, your comment reveals a fear of your own mind and, having read your comments, I can't say I blame you.

Is the lack of serotonin what gives the user the "Urgh, what am I doing with my life? I need to get my shit together!" feeling ?
