My Daughter and I went to a Halloween Party dressed as the Power Loader from "Aliens." I love Halloween, and I wanted to create a costume that my daughter and I could share. She was amazingly content the whole night, and enjoyed looking at everybody else's costumes!I built this robot suit in two nights and a day out of cardboard boxes and hot glue. My baby girl rides comfortably in a Baby Bjorn with the roll cage protecting her. The entire costume only weighs about ten pounds, plus baby.My highest priority was keeping my little girl safe, so the costume was designed for mobility and quick exit in case of emergency. The boots are basically cardboard slippers that could pop right off. With a shrug of my shoulders, I could pop the arms right off. What you can't see from the video is that there are no bottoms on the robot arms, so my human arms were completely free and unimpeded. I could leave the claws hanging idle from the shoulder joints while I could address any of my girl's needs. I would have had to take the suit off to changer her diaper, though!The internet has been amazingly kind and positive about this outfit. Thank you for all of the amazing comments and compliments you have posted about my little girl!

That's a front-end loader, not a bulldozer. I know my constructacons.

I don't see why they couldn't build a construction loader like the one Ripley used in Aliens.

I thought this "mech" is a nice accomplishment, and the video is very tongue-in-cheek - and real depends on your perspective. If some rich mecha fan wants to buy it, that's great - I'm sure it would get ticketed an impounded if he drove on the streets. I certainly hope any military weapons procurement expert would simply laugh at this video... or at least smile.

I'm a collector as well - right now I still have 5-600 (may be an over-exaggeration) star wars figs still in package and tons more out of package. Everyone who knows me always asks about value, what are they worth? I can't even put a price on them because I don't care - I like'em and I'm not selling. I collect because I like the stuff. Not so I can walk around and say, "my stuff is worth a lot, that's why I collect it".

I have comics & trading cards. I have the full complete set of the Dark Crystal trading cards - I don't care what they are worth - I like em! Star Wars, Marvel, Boris, Olivia, fantasy, baseball trading cards 1000s of them...

I regret ever having to sell the stuff - there was a time with my first child when I had to choose between toys or formula & diapers. I made the right choice but I wish I had found a different way to come up with the cash. Especially now that I have two kids who would have loved to have that stuff.

I've replaced some of the vintage star wars stuff and I have tone of the new star wars figs from the past 15 years. I also have an almost complete set of Aliens vs. predator figs (minus the loader - I sold that off as well)

Had to drive a loader onto a raised flatbed once, with each wheel hanging over about three inches on each side. That was pretty nerve-wracking.

Well, being as I'm gay, I have a porn addiction, as well as drugs also. One of the best things to happen to me as I got outa high school, a XXX video store opened up not far from me. I still have tons of copied VHS tapes and over 200 gigs of vids on my computer thanks to torrents and flash video down loader for my browser. The upside, I no longer have the need to steal porn mags from my local convenience store like I did when I was in middle school.

Maybe he did sleep under a bridge, I don't know. None of us here do. Maybe he was a regular free-loader on the train. Again we don't know. Maybe he bought a ticket at this station and got on the next train. Again none of us know. I expect the worst he would reasonably be expected to suffer is the shame of having to call his parents and get a lift.

But if you sit there, caught in a lie, continuing to lie to the face of the conductor, don't expect too much sympathy from him or anyone else within earshot.

That said you're a more compassionate person than me, I would say.

Also: Speaking from experience, spending a night huddled in a bus shelter in freezing weather can do wonders for imparting life lessons. Those lessons are generally worth a hell of a lot more than a night's discomfort.

Fridges built in the 1950s still work just fine and look fantastic. Does that mean we should all be using them? Of course not. They weighed a ton more, used 'environmentally unfriendly' coolant, and were much less efficient. So even though the old timey 1950s fridge is not 'obsolete' in the sense that it is still functional, it very much IS obsolete in the sense that modern options are far superior.

This concept that every product ever made should be some sort of immortal, immutable Jungian archetype is just some person's idiotic fantasy. I've had the same fridge, microwave, dryer and dishwasher for over 14 years. Our clothes washer was also that old and was still working like a champ, but I got a new front-loader because they are more efficient. As my life goes on, I will replace these older 1990s appliances with newer ones that are better. And I will not feel either (A) guilty about it or (B) ripped off as if I was somehow being gypped.
